Shapes! Colours! Oh! The music and the noise! It was often times fascinating as to how beauty could exist in loud areas such as these cities - Concrete roads, marbled walls and prestige worn upon the perfectly ironed outfits that many wore; Everything in this grand city simply hummed with an indescribable babble of sounds, harmonious yet dissonant all at once. Ignoring the odd stares and dirty glares thrown in her general direction, Llna would have carried on, bare feet pattering against the cobbled streets as her unruly hair flowed right after her. Was there a particular reason for her excitement on this very day? Other than the fact that she was allowed to explore the jumble of life that was Raque and its inhabitants, there really weren’t many things that could have contributed to the brimming joy that hummed in her chest.
Well, other than the ocean, that is.
Rushing up to the parapet that would separate the main city from the glistening waters, Llna would have let out a small squeal of happiness, soaking in the warm rays of sunshine as she stilled herself in that very moment. The sea breeze was an intoxicating, chilly breath; Each inhale heavy laden with the scent of salt as the earth sang a low countermelody to the song of the crashing waves. Despite her obligations to the Clover Kingdom, her duties as a magic knight really didn’t seem like something she paid much attention to, especially with how her voice was easily drowned under the weight of her social status and upbringing. But all sour feelings placed aside, it was also important to take a break every now and then, to escape from the ever tiring race that was being responsible for things other than her continued survival!
Ah, but she supposed there were still some benefits in at least managing to don the mantle that proved her affiliation with her magic knight squad. Primarily that the judgemental looks and comments wouldn’t further escalate into situations where she’d be forced to throw hands or escape from an angry mob of elitists. Plus, there was a comfy hood! Who in the world didn’t like comfy hoods? There were only two kinds of people that existed in the world when it came to comfy hoods, those who liked them and those who were liars!
”My oh my at the time that has pasted since I’ve been here.” A cheerful tone came out as he spoke to himself when the beautiful sight of the beach hit his eyes. “Looks like I might be able to get a day in at the beach.” Saying to himself once more before turning to head into town. The town of Raque was a great place along one town that has so many memories to the Young Blake. When he was young his parents would take him to the beach every once and a while as a treat for his good behavior. It was always fun, especially when Ronald would always get attacked by crabs or the local birds. The funny part about it all was as soon as they hit the beach the birds knew exactly who he was. That would always be a laugh to the young noble every time he would think about it. Though, when there are memories, there is always a place where everyone would always go to.
When coming into town it always seem to Naxel that this town is split into two different groups. In one hand you have the amazingly nice locals who always welcomes people. On the other you have a small group of locals who hate everyone along with most of the tourist being jerks. Despite being a noble this kingdom would always be odd to him. Nevertheless, Naxel made it into town to search for an old place that his parents would take him whenever they first arrived. It was always the place to go, and take your kids along with you. Even though being a young adult now, the nostalgic feeling of going to this place will never fade to him. The place was a small ice cream type store that was placed right by the beach. Most people who come always say that it was the hottest place in town. “Hopefully the place isn’t too packed today.” Thinking to himself while letting out a soft laugh.
By the time he had made it through town you could see the small building right by the beach. There were few people coming and going, so Naxel took that as the place was open. Excitement started to run through his body that could barley be withheld. Sprinting the last little bit of the way, he opened the door up and went inside. “Hey there old man! Remember me?” The man smiled as he watched the young noble enter his establishment. He nodded his head, and then started to scoop some frozen ice into a bowl. The man obviously, somehow, remembered him, because when he lifted up his hand it was a bowl of his favorite. Naxel grabbed the bowl following with a hand full of coins. He smiled afterwards when the man bought had a heart attack from the amount he was paid. To Naxel, it was always good to give a little extra to those places you always loved to visit.
After he obtained his favorite beach snack, it was time for him to hit the beach! Naxel ran outside of the side door of the building which led straight to the sand. When his feet touched it, it felt like the sun was massaging his feet with happiness. “Finally I am able to make it back here.” Thinking to himself before he had noticed someone not too far from him. The person looked kinda familiar to him, but wasn’t sure. It had been a long time since he has been here, so it could be almost anyone. Thankfully, he already was in his swimming pants along with his Mantle. He wasn’t sure why he hadn’t taken it off yet, but it didn’t matter due to the attachment that it caused for him. Naxel then walked over to the girl, and lifted his hand up as if he was waving. “Hello there! I am sorry to bother you, but you look quite familiar to me.” Saying with a soft and welcoming voice, before he came up close to her.
How odd it must have been to be called out by a stranger, or could she truly have called them an unfamiliar face? Tilting her head slightly at the approaching figure, Llna would have squinted at them, attempting to sort through her infinite memories of faces, passing names that would have failed to stick as she mused through the list. After a moment, she could only have concluded that she remembered nothing about this passerby! Except perhaps, the azure mantle he happened to have draped over his shoulder?
That silver crest that rested within ocean blue folds, that undeniable fluffiness at the trimmed edges of the cloak - Though the blonde would have paused for a second to question the combination of swimming pants and magic knight mantle, there would have been a soft smile that broke the confusion, happiness simply brimming from her tiny presence.
“You seem familiar too! Probably because we’re both on the same squad and all!” Returning the warm and welcoming vibes he had emanated, Llna would have immediately noticed the stark height difference that they faced. Oh, how he towered over like how Willow did with ease but she wouldn’t have paid much mind to that detail unless he brought it up right then and there. “I’m Llna! I don’t hang around the base a lot since I’m always out completing tasks out in the wild! But we’ve probably walked past one another at some point!”
Gosh, there really was something refreshing about talking to someone other than herself and her indecipherable mess of internal thoughts. Perhaps, it was the fact that she wasn’t the one thinking up the responses of both sides to her own whimsical answers? Two heads were always better than one! Or so her mother had often said…
“The sea seems really happy today!” Homesickness was not something she wanted to deal with at the moment, an emotion easily suppressed by drowning herself in the song of the sea. Humming along to a rhythm no one else could catch but her alone, the girl would have tuned out momentarily, allowing herself to feel the pulsing melody of the beach as crustaceans and other aquatic life lazily made their way across the sand. “It’s all calm but still lively… you can hear its pretty music if you just listen!”
While eating his ice cream he noticed that the girl was examining him after he greeting. He didn’t find this weird due to he always enjoying meeting new, or old, people. Though this girl looked quite familiar to him as if he had seen her not that long ago somewhere. It’s strange though, because it would had to of been either at the base or within one of the towns from a recent mission. The frustration started to slowly build within him from not remembering who this young lady could be. It wasn’t until she responded when he finally remembered.
Within his mind he was beating himself over the rudeness that had quickly consumed him. The young girl before him was a fellow member of his own squad, and he didn’t even know. “Who else is apart of our squad that I’ve just casually, unknowingly, ignored or didn’t know.” He thought to himself as he started to cry imaginary tears within his head. Naxel would then snap out of his train of thought when he went on to introduce herself, and explain why they really haven’t been able to meet before now. It all made sense. She was one of the members who went out into the kingdom to do odd end jobs that most nobility wouldn’t care to do. When she finished speaking he could only feel happiness to be in a squad with such an awesome squad mate.
“My name is Naxel Blake. I have been a member for a while, but I kinda went missing for a year.” Giving Llna his along with a brief history of his time within the squad. “But that is a story for another time. We should enjoy the beach together if that would be alright with you?” He said to the fellow Azure Deer with a soft and warm smile on his face. Then, without even noticing, he realized that he had stopped eating his snack. It had started to melt over the sides of the bowl and onto his hand. He felt embarrassed when he realized it, and then started to eat his snack once again to get some of it to stop spilling.
After he managed to get his ice cream from stop spilling over the sides of his bowl he heard her mention the sea was happy today. Naxel would then look out towards the ocean to notice that it looked amazing. The sun was at a perfect height in the sky along with the waves hitting the shore as if it had a tempo. Llna would then continue to say that the ocean sounded like music. Naxel would then give her a confused look, but remembered that his squad was filled with odd, yet awesome, people from all over the kingdom. Then, with a gentle motion, he would place his hand on top of her head. “Why don’t we go for a swim, and enjoy the beach while we seem to have a day off from work today?” Taking his mantle off after asking his question. Naxel would then place his things at a close by wooden beach chair before heading to the water.
Her brain would freeze up no sooner than his name had left his mouth, a sudden silence clawing at her tongue as she momentarily forgot what it meant to speak. Fingers would fumble at the hem of her crumpled clothes, brain screaming at her to stop acting so awkwardly as her nerves continuously pulsed with a soft sense of anxiety. How did people talk to others older than them? There had to be a ton of courage that went into such a relaxed state of conversation, or perhaps, a great lack of concern for how one presented themselves. Either way, she find herself in a rather odd predicament of having to respond to his offer, blood rushing to her cheeks as her brain struggled to process an answer. Her palms would find themselves softly slapping against her cheeks, her gaze quickly averted in an attempt to save her sanity from being ripped to shreds.
"I- It's fine!" How she wished that the cat hadn't sunk its claws into her tongue, embarrassment bursting in nervous sparks all around her body as she twitched. And oh, would his gentle head pat have served no other purpose than to exacerbate the problem, a soft squeak escaping her lips as she sharply flinched from the contact. "I- I don't know how to swim either!"
Surely, that must have counted as good enough of a reason for her to avoid spending more time than she needed in making a fool of herself in front of another squad member! Besides, despite the stringent love and care she showed for nature, the sheer vastness and depth of the ocean still majorly scared her - What if a wave swallowed her up? Or some marine creature took hold of her and wished to drag her underwater? Not being able to breathe properly already sucked as it did on land, so what about a huge basin of salt water where she wouldn't even be able to open her eyes? Irrationality clouded her decisions, a silent creature bred by a fear for the unknown and what lay beyond.
"B- but you... Still... Enjoy! Beach day!" Meaningless flails of her arms would accompany a rather panicked voice, the girl anxiously hopping from one foot to another as if burnt by the sun-soaked ground. "Uhm! Duty! Stuff! Important! Bye!"
Faster than Naxel could have possibly processed it, Llna was already booking it, the figure of a silent scream ghosting her lips as she clumsily dove back into the crowded streets of Raque. She had to get out of there and get out fast, the blonde desperately ignoring the dirty looks of people she'd accidentally shoved past in her grand escape. Perhaps, her hasty farewell could have been taken as an act of rudeness, but there really was no space in her flustered mind to even consider such a thought. Maybe she could try to find a new mission to take up to get her thoughts off such things? Who needed an off day anyways?!
