"Oh, I managed to talk a spatial mage in to doing it. Basically, it's like a miniature storehouse in here. And I get to put all the spare items that I have here. While working on finding a means of enchanting even the most simple of items. If I can, I will be able to patent the best possible thing in the world, magical item creation! Not just having to find them in dungeons, I could streamline the process. I could make a fortune I coul-- Sorry! SOrry. I get a little carried away!" She said while rubbing the back of her head, having embarrassed herself a little bit.
Motioning to some of the pockets, one had torn completely and a shield rested on the ground. SHe lifted it up slowly and from her side, emanating darkness engulfed her and a majority of the walkway behind her, masking her presence, and from the front, a bright light shined, a blinding bright light. Yelping in surprise, she tossed it up in tot he air, where it would turn off the magic, and she caught it with both hands like a plate. "Sorry! Sorry! That's the Duality of Day. It's kind of a very weird shield, that, unless you know how to use darkness or light, you cannot wield properly, otherwise both sides activate and make it borderline useless. I'm saving it for special customers. But, I need it's storage pocket fixed. If you wouldn't mind starting with that one."
Did she have a name and a story for all of these items in here? There were five other pockets to really focus on fixing.

Cyrus listened intently as Fibi briefly explained the history of the mysterious chest within which the two currently resided, utterly fascinated that somebody could do something like this. Spatial magic, huh? Such a rare form of magic used for such a mundane yet useful purpose! She started to go into detail about her idea to corner the market on magical item creation, but came to a stop suddenly; with a sheepish gesture that the sap wizard found quite familiar, she apologized for rambling on a bit, but the apology was met with a smile and a shake of his head. "Nah, it's alright Fibi! I actually think it's really interesting! I'd love to hear more, if you're up for it!"
The shopkeeper then indicated some of the pockets that she had asked him to help her with, only to produce a strange shield that released a blinding light in his direction while shrouding the area behind its face in darkness. She apologized again as she frantically deactivated the magic, explaining how it worked as she did so. Cyrus couldn't help but laugh at the display, finding her frazzled reaction to the shield going off to be cute. "Well I can definitely see why you wouldn't want that thing stored insecurely, heh!" He joked, walking over to the pocket where it was stowed. He looked at the material that made up the pocket, searching for any breaks or weak spots and making a mental note of them. "Alright, let's have a go at this!"
Cyrus' grimoire opened up, and he placed his hands on the edge of the pocket's seam. With a quiet hum, he began to produce a thin layer of sap along the surface, strengthening and reinforcing the pocket's sides and weaknesses as it hardened into amber. But before it hardened, he decided to do something a little extra; rather than simply leave it at as a nondescript sealing, he instead expanded the sap to the center of the pocket, forming it into a shield shape with an emblem of sorts left out; the shape of a sun and crescent moon overlapping. It wouldn't hinder the pocket's functionality, but did a fair job at concealing the frays and tears, if Cyrus did say so himself.
Satisfied with his handiwork, Cyrus stepped back and made a little "voila" gesture. "How does that look?" He asked, hoping the added decoration wouldn't be too much of a problem. "I can tone it back some if you like. But I thought this could make it look nice while also making sure you know what's what!" As he awaited her answer, he looked around at the other damaged pockets, curious as to which would be next.

She clapped her hands together with Cyrus forming the seal around the shield, "Oh that's wonderful! Thank you so much! Come on! To the next one!" She declared, holding on to his wrist and running on ahead to the next one, this one was more like a lunch box, contained within finely knit chain mail, enough that it looked more like metal scales. Running her hand up along the side and over the top, they would unfold, exposing the box within. Taking a hold of it, she would open it up.
"Cutler's Cutlery. You simply reach in, and can pull out any sort of cooking utensil, and it will always match the food you are preparing. I have something that can go perfectly with this, but, it's on the bookshelf, so it doesn't need any special storage. It's a book that can give you the recipe of anything you have on hand."
SHe would lead him further down, after he handled that. Next was a bow and quiver. The quiver was like it was made out of canvas. The bow was a nice ornate piece of wood, both ends tipped with brushes. "Maestro de la Artiste. It's a bow that can form any kind of arrow of any kind of element. As a paint artifact, it has the benefit of being an all rounder, with nothing too special about it, other than anyone can wield it, because it can attune to anyone." She really did have a lot of stuff here! How did these storage pockets get damaged and these items fell out though? There had to be a story behind that.

Cyrus grinned triumphantly as Fibi clapped at the sight of the sigil he had emblazoned on the Duality of Day's pocket, even thanking him for it in her enthusiasm before taking hold of his wrist once more to guide him to the next subject. The warmth of her hand reddened his face, but he was able to quash it this time without too much difficulty as she pulled out the tool to be contained in the next pocket. Cyrus admired the craftmanship of the box as the lady explained about it, noting its ability to draw forth any form of cooking equipment that one might need at the moment. It was rather situational, of course, but it certainly sounded handy for that purpose! He was a fair chef himself, though not one worth bragging about. The recipe book she mentioned also sounded intriguing.
"That sounds so useful!" He said, briefly picturing himself using it to prepare a meal. Though who he was cooking for was anyone's guess. Humming as he looked at the torn pocket, another design came to Cyrus as he got to work on fixing it. Once the stitching was repaired, he set to adding the new symbol; this one was in the shape of an open box, with a whisk and a butcher's knife sticking out of the top.
Next on the list was the curious bow and arrow she showed him, both with rather odd but interesting designs. Fibi explained that they bow, Maestro de la Artiste as she referred to it, was able to create arrows from any element imaginable thanks to being an artifact of the paint element. He smiled curiously. "That's really cool! Have you tried to use it before, yourself?" Now ready to fix the third pocket, Cyrus once again summoned his sap to reinforce the lining. Inspiration hit him, and he grinned even wider. "Ooh, how about this?!" He asked, as he created another emblem. This one resembled a painter's palette, but with an arrow sticking through the thumb hole, as though securing it to an unseen wall.
Dusting his hands off for no particular reason, Cyrus stood up and cast a curious look in Fibi's direction. "By the way Fibi," He asked, having been wondering this for a while now. "How exactly did these pockets get damaged, anyway? Doesn't seem like the sort of place most could get into, so I can't imagine it was a thief or vandal."

SHe poked her fingers together as Cyrus asked her if she tested any of this stuff out before. "W-well. I have to test out the merchandise when it's high quality. You know, for quality assurance! Yeah!" she mumbled, poking her index fingers together, mentioning something about wanting to keep anything extra juicy for herself, but, she hasn't found anything befitting a compass user just yet. Walking on ahead, they would come to the next two things that needed to be fixed up. CYrus asked her how it was she came across this chest, and scratched the side of her cheek, a nervous laugh coming out.
"W-Well I found it within the last year and, okay. Here's the thing." She would clear her throat before continuing to explain, "This was originally a mana beast. it disguised itself as a chest. And, when I went to loot it in a dungeon, it sort of, you know, ate me? Becuase the whole thing is a giant mouth. Or was. And, I found myself in here, and I had to fight my way out. And, by the time I did, it had decayed over time, and become a regular chest. And I needed a change of clothes. ANd three baths. And a lot of healing." SHe shuddered, remembering the horrendous thing.
She offered a thumbs up to every design he made for the stuff she presented to him. The next piece was a large piece of armor. It looked like a chest piece that was too too big to fit on to anyone. As she lifted it up with her arm, it melted, and molded to her arm in to a full length gauntlet. As she flexed and stretched, it went along her shoulders, and formed in to a curiass, before she tugged on it, turning it to chain mail and pulling it off, before it turned back in to that armor. "Quicksilver Sash. A hearty piece of mercury that matches the needs of the wearer."

Cyrus arched a golden eyebrow at Fibi's sudden, somewhat nervous behavior after he asked if she had tested some of the products herself. The finger twiddling gesture she did was almost sufficient to distract him from her actual response, though not quite. "That was still... really cute." He noted to himself internally, before she got into the story on how exactly she had managed to come across the chest that they were inside currently.
Needless to say, the origins were certainly... something.
"Wait a minute. A mana beast disguised as a chest... do you mean that we're inside a Mimic right now?!" He asked, his tone exuding a mixture of shock, disgust, amusement, and awe all at the same time. "I've read a lot about them in my studies! That's incredible!" He laughed, though her mention of what all she had to do and what had happened made him shudder in time with her, sympathetic to her plight. "Wow..." He said, trying to imagine what it must have been like when the creature was alive. He remembered the details of her story and his face reddened a bit, putting her "recovery" process after the encounter out of his mind. "But it was worth it, right? I mean, this place is amazing!"
He followed Fibi as she led him to the next piece of merchandise, a curious chest piece that the shopkeeper picked up. As she did, it changed into a gauntlet that secured itself around her arm. It was a fascinating process, watching it change from one shape to another as she moved. "That's so cool!" He said, enjoying himself quite a lot. In fact, the nature of the curious armor gave him the perfect idea for the next insignia. After repairing the pocket it would be stored it, Cyrus formed yet another emblem. This one seemed to just be a large splatter mark, but one corner of the mark expanded into a gauntlet, the other into a chest piece, and still another into a curiass, just as it had when Fibi wore it.
Cyrus smiled, rolling his shoulder. "One more to go, right?" He asked, walking over to the saleswoman.

"Well, yeah, I spent maybe two weeks cleaning out everything, and making sure there's as much of it I can still use. To be honest, there's a corner of this chest, do not go there, it's still alive, and, I have to come in here and fight it back by by bit. So, yeah! There's that! Moving on! I don't want to talk about how I spent three days in a monster's stomach!" When he tried to ask about this amazing place, she pointed on ahead, shouting that they were moving ahead, no more discussions ont he beast!
One item after the other, they got to them all, save for the last one. "Okay, so this last one, I am not really sure how it works. And, it seems to be something that isn't normal. It's basically a mirror, and, there's a STRONG magical aura that comes from it. I am unsure what it is, other than it seems like it's like a one way mirror. SOmetimes you see things through it. It's kind of scary."
It was a standing mirror, the type of thing you look at your outfit in. Oval shaped, one sided, the back of an immaculate wood. The golden frame around it adorned with elfish runes. And when she got close to it, nothing really happened, but, Cyrus would be able to feel it. There was something about the mirror that just stood out. Other than it gave off a magical aura, but, it couldn't quite be placed. After that mirror was put on to a safe spot, they would be done and they could head back out in to the store.

Cyrus listened intently as Fibi went into slightly further depths on how exactly she managed to transform what was once a mimic into this curious storage facility, tilting his head curiously when she noted that a portion of the chamber was actually still alive somehow. He considered asking if she knew how it was surviving or something to a similar effect, but her statement afterward about being inside the creature for three days. While he could tell it was a subject she was no longer interested in talking about, he still considered what that could possibly mean. Was that when she was first swallowed by the beast when she first discovered it? Or perhaps it was during the clean up process that she mentioned.
Either way he doubted that he would get an answer if he ventured to ask now, so he instead opted to simply follow her to the fifth and final damaged pocket he was to repair. Fibi lead him to the item in question, explaining that she was not actually entirely clear on how this particular device worked yet and sharing what she did known. He looked at the strange piece of furniture expectantly, but whatever it did seemed as though it would have to remain a mystery for another day. Once he was convinced it would do nothing, Cyrus got to work on fixing the pocket and creating his little design. In this case it was a pretty simple matter, creating an ovular shape out of sap with an outline of symbols reminiscent to the runic language that decorated the piece along the edges. In the center of the mirror he simply left a question mark shape, indicative of how little they knew about it at the moment.
Satisfied with the last of his handiwork, Cyrus helped Fibi tuck the mirror safely away and then made his way to the exit, climbing the ladder until he reached the room of the fascinating shopkeeper. He extended a hand into the mouth of the chest, offering her assistance to help her get out. "Well, I think I can safely say that this was not how I intended to spend my day off today, heh!" He joked, smiling as he let out a chuckle. He had enjoyed it all the same though, committing the entire experience within the mostly dead creature to memory. Maybe not relaxing, but still fun.

As they got through it all, they would be leaving the chest, and Cyrus was the first to come out, and turning back to offer a hand to help her up and out. As he grasped her and she tried to find her footing ont eh ladder, she was slipping, needing to be pulled up and over the cusp of the chest!
This would have gone one of two ways, either they fell back in to the chest, down on to the floor, where she would have Cyrus land on top of her, and the lid would slam shut! Or, she would be pulled out, and she would fall over on top of him, with the lid slamming shut. Either way, there was a bright red hue to her face in either position, and her eyes locked on his before she would have a minor freak out.
At this point of the story, it was up to Cyrus if he could pull her out in time and save them from having an episode inside the chest of getting back out to freedom. it could be an interesting story no?
"I Uh, it's good that um, you know, no one is here to see us, you know, like this. Us, you know, uh, we can move now." She would say, in either case of the situation.
Post by Cyrus Elwood on Jan 25, 2020 11:19:05 GMT -5
Cyrus smiled as Fibi took his hand, face reddening a bit at the contact as he began to help pull her up. As she was climbing the last few rungs of the ladder, however, Fibi suddenly seemed to lose her footing and stumbled, beginning to fall backwards. Catching this, and her by extension, Cyrus made sure he had a firm hold of her hand before he began pulling a bit harder. "I gotcha Fibi! Hold on!" He assured her, finally giving it one final tug to help her breach the exit of the mimic. The effort proved successful as Fibi emerged... though he may have pulled a little bit too hard, as she fell onto him and the two crashed to the ground. Luckily there was a pillow from the girl's bed thrown on the floor, which was able too prevent him from taking any serious damage.
Cyrus slowly opened his eyes as he settled down a bit, feeling a weight on top of him. And much to his shock, there was Fibi, looking right back at him with a face he could only imagine was the same vivid shade of red as his own probably was right now. He opened his mouth to speak, but couldn't manage words for a few moments in his state of surprise. Fibi nervously stammered her relief that nobody was around before suggesting that they move, and he slowly nodded. "Uh, r-right! Moving, yeah. U-um... hold on a sec." Now a bit more gathered, Cyrus slowly slid out from under her and stood up, helping the shopkeeper to her feet. He looked outside the nearby window, and his eyes widened. "Oh wow... it's getting to be dark outside." He noted. Just as he said, the sun was beginning to set over the horizon.
Before he could say anything else, Cyrus' stomach growled rather loudly, bringing the red shade back to his face. He placed a hand on his stomach as if to tell it to be quiet. He had been meaning to go out to eat after he went shopping and totally lost track of time as he was helping Fibi. A thought occurred in his mind, one that he wasn't quite sure came to be, but he spoke it nevertheless.
"H-hey, Fibi?" He started, clearing his throat before he tried to speak again. "Are you... hungry? I um, I brought a little extra money with me when I left the base today. See, I was gonna go out to eat after I checked out your shop. And, well... since what I bought was so cheap, I have a lot left over. Do you wanna... maybe go grab something? With me? I understand if you need to man the shop, or-or if you just aren't up for it! Just thought I might ask, you know?"
Would she accept? The invitation was rather spur of the moment, and they were basically strangers. Still, he thought it might be a nice way to repay her for both the useful product he bought and for the interesting afternoon they spent together. Either way he would be going out to eat after he left...
Though he would certainly enjoy the meal more if she said yes.

After everything embarrassing happened they were able to separate and quickly collect themselves, brushing her hair out of her face and over her ear, she cleared her throat before trying to get a more level head about this all. "Um, thanks by the way, you know, for, helping me out of that chest." She said while keeping her eyes from meeting his for the moment. When he suggested that they get something to eat, she piped up.
"Well normally I would eat in the chest, I have this food magic picnic basket, it prepares food easily for you for the cost of your mana, and, you can enjoy simple and warm meals, nothing too serious, and, I'm talking about my products again, aren't I?" She asked before going in to another room to get changed. "So. Where do you want to go? I'm happy to go anywhere."
"I can close up the shop for the evening and get some free time, the benefit of being my own boss, unlike you knights, huh?" She joked with him while happy to take some time just to get something to eat. As she walked out with him from the shop, she turned the open sign to closed, and a sheen of magic washed over it, locking it in the process, how much did she have that was magical? That was a story for another day.
