Almost immediately after Emily defended Vulf from Aster’s nasty attitude, the boy retaliated, yelling almost twice as fast and loud as he initially did. The girl had to admit, despite not getting the story from Vulf or Silas themselves, she truly believed the man didn’t do anything wrong. As targeted and serious as Aster’s words seemed to be, especially with the part about him and his father killing their squad mates, Emily was trying her best not to take anything he was saying to heart. Luckily the encounter didn’t last for very long. Vulf also was taking his usual chance to take a shot at the girl, to which Emily squinted an annoyance at the man. Forrest intervened and requested that the two of them listen to her. The wood mage had activated a reinforcement spell and delivered a powerful blow to Aster’s shoulder, knocking him to the ground. Emily blinked a few times in shock at the lack of hesitation that Forrest displayed while diffusing the issue. Additionally, it didn’t seem like her and Forrest were the only ones trying to calm the situation down anymore at this point. Though Silas stepped in and began to use his own method of problem solving, Aster still seemed to be intent on pushing his point across. Even though Silas’ methods, in comparison to the other members, were a bit abrasive, they were probably for the best given the situation. However, the girl was snapped out of her confusion as Forrest began to speak to her again, seemingly joking along with her about the plan to run the members into the ground with exhausting drills. Though, then again, Forrest was only half joking. He proposed a race for the group, no magic of course. Emily knew that eventually she was going to have to accept the race regardless of her not really wanting to participate. Otherwise she’d be facing scrutiny from her squad mates. Quickly, one by one, the lions began to agree to the race. Obviously, the first to jump on the chance was Aster, talking about racing Silas. Uziah was also quick to follow. “Yeah I guess we could go… running.” the girl said, reluctantly of course. [break][break] Emily felt a familiar mana coming towards them. “Well, looks like the whole party is here now.” she mentioned quietly as Rem was finally out of her room. She didn’t seem too happy to see them, but then again, Emily hadn’t ever really seem Rem happy in her presence so that wasn’t saying much. Then again, it wasn’t like they mortally hated each other or whatever, it was just more of an antagonizing relationship than anything else. However, her focus on Rem would soon switch to that of a more beastly target. Before she had realized it, the Captain of the Crimson Lion Kings, Ardere Kasai, had landed before them. Although the man was usually in the base, it was still terrifying to feel his magical power up close. He never made any gesture nor did he have any intention of hiding just how truly terrifying it was. Maybe that was just the way the captain operated. It went without saying that anyone to pick a fight with him had a death wish, so it didn’t really matter all that much whether he hid his power or not. From the way he appeared, the girl figured he had a plan of sorts. Come to think of it, Silas had been looking for the captain earlier, so did this have something to do with that? Much to her surprise, he was interested in the drills. Emily blinked, “Ah crap. Me and my big mouth.” she thought nervously, shooting a glance over towards Forrest. After all, that’s how the whole drill thing got started anyway. Then again, that didn’t seem to be the only thing the Captain had to say. His absolute order was that there would be no discrimination against Vulf, and that if there was any, the offender would have to answer to him. Emily had already understood this much, but hearing it straight from Ardere was still scary. She nodded her head. “Yes Captain.” she said. In that very instance, all that pressure from before seemed to have vanished as the captain returned his interest to the drills. Emily blinked and gulped down some air. “Uh… yeah, sure. We were just about to run some laps around the base with no magic. Three laps I think.” Emily said. [break][break] That’s when Vulf brought up something about a huge detail that the crew of lions seemed to be missing. Emily was intrigued to hear how big of a detail it actually could’ve been. Either that or she was trying to figure out how incredibly dumb they all how to be to miss it when Vulf didn’t. She was waiting to ‘hear him out’ as instructed by the Terell himself. However, when he actually got to speaking again, Emily realized that he probably should’ve never opened his mouth in the first place. “Are...you...kidding me!?” she shouted. “I thought you were being serious for a second you dumbass!” the girl shouted, waving her arms for emphasis. She thought about hitting him, but the captain was there, and besides, she was sure there’d be plenty of opportunities to punch him later. Additionally, it seemed that the man had moved on to provoking Silas as well, so that was even more of a reason to just wait until a better opportunity popped up. [break][break] Surprisingly enough, even in the face of Vulf’s taunts, Silas didn’t take any action. “Geez his patience is unusually high today. Wonder what’s got him so worked up.” she thought to herself. She was sure Silas would’ve been all over these guys on any normal day, but maybe she was right about before, something was different. Her suspicions were only confirmed by what the mage was asking their captain. “A test? Wait you mean you’re gonna fight him right here and right now!?” she asked. It was sure to be an interesting experience for sure, but she wasn’t so sure that Ardere letting loose and getting crazy while any of them was even on the base premises wasn’t all too good of an idea. The girl remembered not too long ago feeling unbelievable power from both Captain Lysander and Ardere while they were fighting. Would this be just like then?

Rem sighs as she watched the group listinen as the mucking about continued with the Vulf guy going on running his mouth like his life depended on it, not seeming to justs tick with one conversation and stop, jeez he was loud as she silently grumbled to herself, but then to make matters worse Ardere dropped in out of nowhere giving his normal superhero landing of an entrance, show off. Shouting about how we should not insult Vulf for whatever reason, though she would still be treating him like any other lion if she did yell at him, so Rem would be sure to give him her best hello.
Further to the point the vice captain asked about drills to witch she of course grumbled in light complaint considering she is already sore all over, but before she could really bring about a verbal complaint the ‘vulf’ guy would address her question on the fuck was going on, apparently a race, how original, but that did not tick her off, what did however was what in her tired sore state of mind perceived as an insult, though in truth the other lion had only mentioned the fact her hair was a mess due to now getting it combed after rolling out of bed. Even so, the crystal flame went off. “Excuse you the fuck?! Oh just because I did not have the time to go and brush my hair before coming down to find out what this mess was all about and now suddenly im ‘bed head’ fuck you, at least I dont walk around with a rats nest on my head at all times as that is obviously the style choice you seem to have gone for!” she at this point had realized her slight mistake in thinking it an insult, that fact showing on her face for a second, before she doubled down. “So yeah I think I will join in your fucking race even though sore and pissed off, because im ticked off and want to see you suffer for it.” with that she took a breath moving on to other matters that need slight assessment.
So she moved on away from Vulf and closer to Emily with a light wave, her face back to the resting bitch tone with the slightest hint of ‘I hope nobody notices that I went off for no reason, let us pretend that was right for me to do’ as she moved over to the lion she had the most meetings with, though those meetings where all rather loud for the most part, but still, Rem did not hate the girl, just found them to be annoying if not infuriating at times, but other times where alright. “Yo. So you are doing this race thing also, cool.” Rem was cooling off at this point as she spoke further, “How have things been, had not seen you for awhile. We should go an a mission again at some point” she did her best at a tired smile as she looked to the other vermillion trying to get into a brawl with the vice captain, oh god why are people so daft, the vice was on another level from anyone in the room, but even still the other guy tried to request a battle, this should be fun to watch.

Mengxia sighed as she stepped out of her room, finally finished getting ready and dressed for the day ahead. There were a lot of things she had to have gotten used to since she had joined up with the Lion, the lack of servants doing most of the work for her being one of them. There was a large part of her that was outraged at this, such things were beneath her after all, but the more dominant side of her personality found some pleasure in being able to decide for herself on what to do and how to do it.
As she walked along the corridor, she briefly stood in front of a mirror long enough to fix the mantle that adorned her shoulders; the mantle of the squad she was now a part of, the crest of the Crimson Lion displayed proudly on the front. Satisfaction filled her as she looked at herself in the mirror. 'The Crimson Lion are merely the first step. Now I must make sure I shine brighter than all the others. That should prove to my family my worthiness.' Mengxia thought bitterly to herself. It didn't take her long to find her way onto the training grounds, to which she was met with a large group of people. Some she knew of, though never had been formally introduced to. Others were unfamiliar.
Right, so much for the quiet training she was originally planning to do. "Good Morning, Everyone." Mengxia spoke with a nod. "If you don't mind my asking, what is with all of the noise?" She asked politely. It was different from the regular racket she had become accustomed to, as much as she disliked the fact that she was even able to tell that difference.
"Throw me to the wolves, tomorrow I will come back leader of the whole pack."
Silas was ballsy. Ardere could not help but burst into laughter. Cocking one of his eyebrows, he stared the Vermillion down. The boy was serious. He had to admit, the lion was his top candidate for Vice captain now. They had been through a lot together. As much as he wanted it to be Forrest, his closest friend would never accept. Therefore he had to pick the person who exemplified the most pride in being a Lion. Someone people could look up to and cling to, like they had once clung to him. Being a Captain was different, but for the first time he felt like he had the right decision in mind. There was only one way to prove it though; he had to test the young man. Alright Silas. I suppose I do owe it to you after all this time. If you really think you've got what it takes, then I'll fight you. One on one. Removing his Crimson Lion cape, the Kasai tossed it over to one of the wooden benches. This is a conditional fight though.
Walking over towards the center of the training area where most of the spars occurred, he began to stretch. We can't really go all out with magic here in the base, plus I've seen what you can do. So let's make this a test of strength and endurance. We'll do fisticuffs, until you can either land a solid hit on me or you yield. Sound fair enough? Cracking his neck, the Captain's muscles began to pulsate. His natural strength and speed were higher than Silas' but he knew the lava mage was no pushover. If he could land a solid hit, he would acknowledge the man. The rest of you are more than welcome to watch while you run drills, but make sure to stay out of the way. Don't want one of you guys catching a stray hit while you're training. Taking slow, deep breaths the brown haired man maneuvered himself into a fighting stance. He was quite the hulk of a fighter, but he never made the mistake of underestimating anyone. Lion's fangs came out when they were pushed into a corner. So that is what he would have to do to Silas; push him into a corner. He had a lot of potential strength. It was time to see how much of it he could draw out. So. You gonna make the first move? A wild smirk crossed the Captain's lips.
As he lied on the ground, Vulf, the traitor mage, would ask him if he was okay. Aster didn’t know if the man had provoked on purpose or being sincere, but he was leaning on the former – and his innocently worded, softly patronizing question only made the young lion angrier. Furious, he’d stand up, prepared to throw another barrage of insults at Vulf against the advise of his superiors and his better judgement. Before he could do so, Aster saw a glimpse of Silas, a Silas he had never seen before: an angry Silas. He felt the guy’s fist on his face as he flied back to the ground. It didn’t hurt as much as his lava spell, but could leave some slight bruising. As Silas began to explain, enraged, that Vulf’s only crime was being in the wrong place at the wrong time with some bad company and healing a Coral Peacock mage Tetsuya had nearly killed, Aster felt a little bit bad. Not because what he was saying rang true, but because he had managed to bring down the wrath of a man he looked up to upon himself.
The blonde lion did not trust the traitor for a second. Even with the ”full story”, there were gaping holes in Vulf’s defense. How did he come to meet Tetsuya? Was this all a facade to infiltrate the Magic Knights? After all, that man was known for killing a lot of people in his day, and could have simply passed down his aspirations to his adoptive son. Aster’s track of thoughts were interrupted by the captain, who jumped out of nowhere and landed in front of them all. The blonde lion went pale from the sheer magical energy he felt emanating from this man – even though it was a different captain, that had picked Aster to the squad, and the two had never met, Ardere’s presence made it very clear who he was. The fire mage immediately stood up from the ground upon being indirectly addressed. ”Yes, sir!” He would yell as loudly as he could, to make sure he had taken this great warrior’s words to heart and would cherish them for the rest of his life.
Aster was pumped at Emily’s proposal. A race sounded like a lot of fun. He glanced over to Vulf, who seemed to be making fun of the red-haired girl. Aster had no idea who she was, but apparently she was high-ranked enough to earn the informal title of an ice queen. Her smile quickly disappeared from her face after Vulf pointed it out. Much to Aster’s shock, Vulf would go on and make a snarky remark about Silas’ silence, asking if he was going to chicken out of the race. The blonde lion’s eyes widened and he covered his eyes, waiting for the moment a lava spear appeared out of the man’s grimoire and obliterated Vulf from existence. Huh? Silas responded with a warning, nothing more. Aster seemed confused for a moment, before he decided it was an honor only granted to a select few to get to be Silas’ aiming target, an honor which Vulf did not deserve.
There was the other guy, who remained stoic and quiet most of the time, only responding to questions briefly and dryly. And a new girl with a messy white hair, whose sentences were basically made out of curses and seemed to have a bone to pick with Vulf, after the man said something about her ’bed-hair’. Aster was more than ready to start running a few more laps, taking the stance, while everyone else was just standing around, waiting for further details. Silas quit his brooding and instead of a race, he suggested something else. If the blonde lion was right, he was taking about that test. The vice captain test. A fight with the captain? Aster started coughing hysterically and got back up, with his eyes shining like the brightest suns: was he going to witness an epic fight between Silas Vermillion and Ardere Kasai?
Once the captain agreed to Silas’ suggestion, the blonde lion basically jumped up in joy. As a new girl walked in, telling everyone good morning and asking what was going on, Aster shouted at her like a madman: ”WE GET TO SEE SILAS AND CAPTAIN FIGHT!!!” Having completely forgotten about the race, he would now stare at the sparring field, waiting for the fight to start.
Seemingly out of nowhere, a Lion by the name of Rem would pop up, demanding to know what the hell was going on. Uziah honestly didn't; have anything to say, never seeing this individual before. Right away, Uziah could feel Silas's mana spike. It felt angry. There was a heat emanating from him that rivaled his own heat magic He was clearly frustrated with Aster, giving him a verbal lashing about a situation that revolved around Vulf and a "Tetsuya." Uziah didn't know who Tetsuya was but the situation as a whole was clearly complicated.
He sighed to himself a bit, almost feeling as though he wanted to isolate himself again. There was enough drama going on here to drive him away. His feelings shifted however, as he felt something quickly approach from the air before Ardere made his grand entrance, slamming into the ground. Uziah's eyes widened in surprise, he hadn't expected to see Ardere today.
He had heard that they were looking for some training and asked if he could join while cracking his hands. Uziah gave a nervous smile, as a sweat drop went down the back of his head. Ardere wasn't going to stand for any sort of exclusion or mistreatment towards Vulf, he was a Lion like the rest of them. Just like Uziah said earlier, Vulf's status would be left up to the Captain's discretion and the Captain has spoken.
Before they would continue any further, Vulf wanted to announce something that everyone here had apparently overlooked. Uziah could only ponder as to what it was that he was talking about. It was more or less a joke/observation, Emily had smiled or something. This seemed to be compiled with the fact that he had called her an ice queen earlier. Uziah wasn't sure if he should chuckle or not. He knew that women didn't like to be called "ice queen."
Turning to Silas, Vulf would address him as the "Sentinel of Retribution." Uziah wasn't sure why this man had a nickname for everyone but it was somewhat refreshing. It nearly wanted to make him raise his hand and yell: "Me next, do me next." But of course, he'd refrain from doing that. He still didn't know much of anything about Vulf, let alone anyone else here for that matter. He did know a few things about Silas, but that was because he sparred him. There was a lot to learn from someone by engaging in combat with them.
Speaking of combat, Vulf goading Silas y asking if he was a chicken or kitten was jarring to say the least. Silas simply told Vulf to be careful with his words. Something that Uziah had to agree with. Silas was ok with drills and all but he wanted to be personally tested for his VC spot. This was something that really peeked his interest.
Slowly but surely, Uziah would pick up on another mana signature. This one was different and unfamiliar to him. A girl named Mengxia would show up, asking what everyone was up to.
"I think we're about to see a spar." He said calmly towards her.
Anticipation mounted as Ardere through off his cape and walked towards the sparring area. This wouldn't be an all out brawl though, since collateral damage was probably not the best idea. Ardere would invite everyone to come and watch. He didn't have to say so twice, he was already following. Eager to see the two go at it, Uziah would stand out of the way (with the rest of the squad).
Post by Vulf Terell on Jul 21, 2019 11:53:58 GMT -5
When Emily squinted towards him after his greeting, the Terell simply shrugged as a faint smile crept on his lips. As usual, Vulf found great enjoyment in messing around, but this... peculiar trait of his was not very welcomed by all of the present lions, as the future vice-captain would make note of when the purple eyed Lightning user teased him for not agreeing to the race in the first place. The young Lion looked at him dead serious as he commented that Vulf should be more careful with his words. To be honest, Vulf was not expecting such a reaction coming from him, given he was younger and all; the redhaired boy had a much more dignified presence than him. Perhaps it was that noble upbringing, showing through? -Eh, fair enough I guess. Although if this nets me a fight with you someday, I'll be more than happy to keep at it -he'd chuckle, before seeing the events that unfolded with the rest of the group.
Forrest hadn't said much after the training drills, but at first glance the man looked like he also liked going at his own pace. In a squad where most of the members were fiery and had strong personalities, it was strange to see such a calm and somewhat delicate man. Vulf felt like the odd one out in the Lions, but the Hadley was also different from them. Maybe he'd take his time to have a few chats with him later on, given he seemed, at the very least, interesting, specially after knocking out Aster just like that.
The Drake had gotten up from Forrest attack, but due to his words he had once gain been hit, the only difference being that he was decked in the face by Silas. By that point the Terell didn't know whether to be amused or worried, given the blonde had been on the receiving end of two blows right now. Given he still shot ominous glances towards him, he decided that as much as he'd like to keep teasing him, it could get him in trouble now that the captain was also there. Besides, he was not sure of how much more Aster's body could take before he either fainted or was broken beyond repair.
As most of them prepared for the upcoming race, two newcomers had appeared. Rem Minzoa, who Vulf had already nicknamed "bed-hair" for the day, seemed to have a fuse shorter than even the Drake's own; she went on and on saying how she did not have any time to brush her hair, insulted him and went on to say that his own style resembled a rats' nest. Although other people may have been taken aback by that sudden outburst, the Terell thrived in that type of situation; he relished on it, as evidenced by the half-grin that was growing on his face with each heated word that Rem added.
-Whaaat, a rat nest? I believe I lean more towards a "preying bird nest" style. Pretty popular in the Forsaken Region! -he retorted, clearly having a great time. As the incredibly short woman stated that she would be joining the race only to see him suffer, Vulf nodded, quite satisfied, and still adding something to piss her off a bit more. -Remember, it's a race, not a tag game, so don't go trying to hit me, 'kay? I'm quite the sensitive man, you know -he joked yet again, as his eyes noticed the second newcomer, almost a foot taller than the raging Rem.
She politely greeted them and asked what was going on with that noise. Given her entrance had been much more quiet than the Minzoa's, he really didn't see anything to use as a nickname, so he simply went ahead and explained the situation. -The usual, training drills. We're about to race around here, so if you wanna join us it's three laps and no spells. What'cha say? -he was already doing a bit of stretching.
After that, when they were about to begin the race, Vulf had teased Emily in front of the whole squad yet again, calling their attention for something they had missed before pointing out that said fact was, indeed, that she had smiled. Her reaction was gold for the Terell, of course, yelling that she thought he was being serious. The well built Lightning user laughed yet again before retorting. -Come on, Emily, when have I ever been serious before? -he then returned to his stretchings before Silas asked Ardere something quite interesting, something that brought a spark of interest to the Lightning user's eyes.
He was asking him for a fight, a test for himself to prove that he was worthy of becoming Vice Captain of the Crimson Lions. Now, despite been completely focused on the upcoming race before, Vulf's interest and curiosity had completely shifted to the battle between the two of them. This was it. He was going to witness the captain and vice-captain on the Lions in battle; how they moved, how they attacked, what spells they used. All particularily important intel for later. A much different grin than his usual joking one was appearing on his lips, but it was cut short when Ardere stated that they would be using no spells to keep the damage to a minimum.
-Oh, come on! -he complained, even though he was still particularily interested. Close combat was, after all, his area of expertise. He wanted to see what the two most powerful Lions, not counting Lysander, could do in that regard. Thus, the Terell positioned himself next to Uziah, who muttered that they were about to witness a spar to the newcomer. -You bet. Does that mean we're exempt from the drills, though? -he began, until Ardere also commented that they could watch AS -keyword right there- they ran the drills. Now, Vulf wanted to check out the spar more than anything else, so perhaps he would take his time while running.
The young man would wait until they were given the "start" signal. Once they were told to begin, he'd say one simple line. -Ready or not, here I go~ -he'd chatter as yet another joke. However, despite that outer child-like display, he would purposefully keep himself at more or less the maximum speed of a normal mage, 10 meters per second. That was two thirds of his own, something he could easily maintain without overexerting or having to put great focus on the path ahead. Instead, he would use this to keep a close eye on the upcoming spar between those two monsters. Vulf wanted to see where the goal posts he aspired to run past were located, and this was the perfect chance to gain, at least, a superficial level of understanding regarding their strength and speed. He was mostly interested in the latter. If he managed to remain faster, he would had the upper hand, or so he thought.

Mengxia wasn’t pleased. The wild looking boy, the one with the spiky blond hair, had shouted madly into her ear, making her face scrunch up with displeasure. 'Is such volume truly necessary?' The woman asked herself in her head. Perhaps it was par for the course; she was a Lion after all. The Crimson Lions and the Black Bulls seemed to be the two squads that were normally the loudest. Mengxia thought on what the wild-boy had shouted at her, something about the Captain and a man named Silas about to fight. This was then confirmed by two men whose name's she didn't know, nor did Mengxia really care to at the moment.
"I...see." Mengxia said as she recovered from the vocal assault. Captain Ardere and Silas...Vermillion? These were familiar names, but she only really knew of their exploits from rumors of fellow knights and her own knowledge, rather than the people those exploits belonged to. Watching them fight would be interesting; she'd get a feel for her Captain and her fellow Lion comrade, maybe see how they fought. Even though it turned out that they banned actual magic slinging, such things were unnecessary. Mengxia believed you could get a good feel for somebody by the way they fought and interacted with their opponent.
At somebodies question on whether she wanted to join the race, she shook her head. "No thank you. I think I'd much rather watch the fight." She answered politely. It wasn't that she didn't care for physical training...she had to be the best, after all; you couldn't be the best without said training, it was simply the prospect of watching how two of the premier Crimson Lions fought was much more interesting to the ambitious noblewoman.

[attr=class, lavaboymaintext]As Silas told Ardere he wanted to be tested for the vice captain spot the older lion would burst out in laughter. However it did seem that he was taking Silas seriously so that was good. Ard would go on to tell Silas that this was a conditional fight which was that they couldn't use magic as it would most likely damage the base. The fight was just going to be a normal fist fight which Silas was fine with. As the captain was removing his mantle the vermilion would walk over to his sister doing the same and handing her his mantle. "Here hold on to this for me I don't want to get my blood on it." Silas would listen as the captain told him that the fight would go until Silas either landed a solid blow or called the fight himself.
Of course the lava mage was going to go until he either got a solid hit or Ard knocked him out. The older lion would then walk over to the spar area and Silas and a few other of the lion who were suppose to be running drills would follow him. "Um guys I think that captain wanted you to still run the drills plus I get nervous when a lot of people watch me fight." Silas would then take a deep breath before taking his own fighting stance. Ardere was stronger and faster than Silas this was something both of them knew after all the main literally threw Silas at a titian during the first mission they did together. The captain would then ask if Silas would make the first move. "Damn I should have known you would say that."
The lion would start of with a basic combo that hopefully wouldn't leave him open to be countered. He would try and hit the captain with two punches one aimed at his side and the second at his chest. He would then try and follow up with a kick to knock Ard's feet out from underneath him.

"Throw me to the wolves, tomorrow I will come back leader of the whole pack."
Ardere held his arms wide open, hands and fingers curved like claws. Arching his back downwards a bit, he glared at Silas. His red eyes were shining bright with excitement. Show me what you've got, young Vermillion. In some ways, this fight was ironic. Lysander had been trained by a Vermillion who he eventually surpassed to become Captain. Now, the Kasai was doing to reverse. Though he had no idea if Silas would one day become Captain, for now he could at least hope he was ready to become a Vice. The lava mage had spent real time on the battlefield, and he was no weakling. However if he just wanted to test the man's magical strength, then this wouldn't be worth it. Right here and now, he was testing his mettle. A Lion was a mage of strength but also endurance. There was a reason they trained constantly. Their bodies were their weapons, honed to become sharp swords and durable spears. Every squad had their duty, and this was theirs. That is why they were in charge of Balgon Prison and why they were on the edge of the Capital rather than within. They were a mix of nobles and commoners, mages of strength and courage. But their new Captain had something to prove. He didn't fight for over a decade just to be the same leader as Lysander. No. He wanted to be his own man, with his own style. Some day, maybe even Nero himself would acknowledge him as an equal. But for now, he had all of these squads members to look after. He couldn't let them down.
Inhaling sharply, the lion slid his right foot back into a close fighting stance. As the two punches came, he swept his right hand to the left and his left hand to the right. This would serve as a deflection to both punches. And as the younger mage went for a sweep, he leaped into the air and delivered a hard kick right into the boy's arms. This would likely sent him tumbling backwards. If his guard was up, the kick would merely just bruise his forearms and no real damage would be dealt. It would just serve as a wake up call to how quick and efficient Ardere actually was. Assuming the kick went through he would dive in and leap up to perform a leaping round house right to the Vermillion's side, keeping his hands up just in case he needed to block. Let's see how quick you really are, Silas. Give me everything you have! His sharp teeth were showing, his crimson eyes glowing even brighter. There was a faint red aura shimmering across his body. No real magic was being used, but his physical strength was obviously enhanced more than a normal mage's. He was a beast of a man after all. It made him wonder. If his predecessor was the Ifrit, what was he? Just a thought...
Magic Knights Mantle, Black Lioness Blade, Lion Heart
To say the very least, Emily wasn’t surprised one bit. What did you get when you set fire to an already ticking time bomb? To make things worse, lightning would only increase that bomb’s blast radius. Rem and Vulf in the same place together for too long was dangerous for more than just the two of them. Emily wasn’t sure if anyone else was focused on what had transpired between the two of them. She didn’t know who to feel bad for. “How does he have fun doing this?” she thought to herself. It was almost as if the man had a natural talent for pissing people off. After their interaction, the girl came over towards Emily. The two of them hadn’t always had the best interactions in the past, but given everything that had happened, the Vermillion didn’t really see a reason to keep up their feud. For now, she just felt like they were in some awkward phase that involved trying to get over their past without directly apologizing to one another for anything that they said or did. Regardless, the girl shrugged. “Yeah I guess so. Not exactly what I want to be doing right now, but it is what it is right?” the girl answered, a bit reluctantly of course. “Though the mission idea sounds fun. Maybe we’ll bring Vulf along and get some revenge.” she said to the other girl, laughing a bit at her own comment. [break][break] Though another surprise arrived at the base, in the form of a person. “Another newbie?” the girl thought to herself. It had been another girl that Emily had never seen before. She looked to be about the same age as the Vermillion, but Emily couldn’t really be sure considering how much taller she was than her and Rem. Honestly, it was a bit intimidating, but still, the fact still stood than she was definitely new. “Good morning.” the lioness responded, laughing a bit at the taller woman’s next question. “Oh don’t worry about that… it’s just the lions being… well, lions.” she admitted, as Aster’s scream could be heard throughout the group in regards to the Captain and her brother fighting. Though despite how obnoxious they would seem in a group setting to everyone else, Emily wouldn’t trade it for anything. [break][break] Ardere began to explain the conditions of their battle to Silas. A no magic battle to be exact. They would just be using their physical strength to fight for the position. A part of her was glad that she wasn’t the one in her brother’s position. Battling against the new Captain was the very definition of the word ‘challenge’, not to mention that she figured he could punch really hard, so taking one of his punches to the face wasn’t exactly on her bucket list. He also made a mention of the rest of them being able to watch while they ran drills, and also gave a slight warning for them to stay out of the way. This was something that Emily felt that no one would have a problem doing. “No complaints here.” she said to herself. Vulf had made a comment about him being ‘sensitive’ and even had the nerve to respond to her the way that he did. “Ya know… I’m sure the Captain wouldn’t mind me hitting you at least a couple times.” she mumbled while squinting at the lightning mage, probably only loud enough for Rem to hear at her distance. [break][break] Emily nodded in agreement when the new girl mentioned watching the fight rather than running drills. Though, as much as she’d love to skip out on drills, she was too afraid of how Ardere would react. The man could be like a lovable child one moment, and like a monstrous warlord the next. There was really no telling with him. Before she turned away to do some drills, Silas approached her with his mantle. “Sure thing.” she said in response, taking the piece of cloth from her brother. As the two of them prepared to fight, the younger of the two fighters made a comment about getting nervous when people watched him in battle. The Vermillion girl couldn’t help but stifle a bit of a laugh. “That’s what makes him nervous?” she thought to herself. “Well, either way. You kicked my ass for this, so you’d better not even think about losing.” she thought, smiling on with nothing but admiration for her brother as he prepared to fight against the Captain. [break][break] She nodded, “Well…” she began to say before turning towards the rest of the group. She noticed that the Terell had already taken off and blinked a few times. She then began running after him, “Hey Vulf get back here! I wasn’t done telling you what a dumbass you are!” she shouted.
Before they got started, Silas would mention that everyone should still do the drills instead of watching them spar. Also, being watched by a bunch of people makes him nervous. Uziah smirked at him a bit as he nodded his head. That was fine, if he didn't want to be watched then he would respect that. As Uziah was getting ready to turn away, he saw Silas head towards Ardere with a few punches and then a kick. Both of which, would be deflected. He knew Ardere was a physical brute but was Silas?
Uziah heard and watched as Emily yelled something out at Vulf before chasing after him. He'd give chase as well, keeping up with a balanced pace.
Rem Was just focusing on Emily for the most part ignoring any further jeering from Vulf as she talked with the girl in a rough manor, but rough was better than explosive and the best Rem could do right now because of being pissed off fully from yelling at that other lion cunt, but still she did her best to keep it together, but hell why was she like this at all times, that was not even anything worth blowing up about to most people. Still Rem just replied simply "Ill pick out a mission for us and I think it would be best to not take him with for everyone's sake, I do not particularly like being a blast zone the entire time, and I doubt the people we would be helping would like it much either." as she said simply moving with a wave to head back inside. "Im gonna get it set up, you have fun in the race, if you lose to that cunt ill punch you." As Rem walked away back to go inside the base where she would end up getting a mission picked out, before going back to bed for a good nap.

Mingxia hummed as she listened to her vice captain mention something about performance anxiety. She didn’t really get it but decided to walk away from the fight regardless. She’d likely get some other chance to see him fight, it didn’t have to be today. As she glanced over towards the track, her lips curled up into a grimace. Running didn’t sound pleasant to her. She came down to investigate the racket, and had investigated it, thus her business here was concluded. She could come back down to train when it wasn’t as crowded. With that in mind she bid her fellow knights farewell and went back upstairs, likely to the library to pass the time. Getting to know the squads history in a quiet place was a much better idea than pushing her way through to a spot to quietly train.

Of course, when Emily mentioned that both her and Rem could go for a mission and bring Vulf with them together, as some sort of revenge. Only whatever god or gods existed knew what the two moody girls would have in store for him, but of course, he would turn the situation into something funner for his own amusement, gladly accepting to go with them if they wanted him to. -I'd definitely tag along for that. Someone's gotta brighten up the mood, specially if you and bedhair are going to go together! -he chuckled, looking at both of them intermittently.
Silas and the captain were already preparing to battle. However, as Silas revealed a small detail about himself, the Terell's eyes opened wide for a split second. The twenty year old mage was not expecting those words to come out of his mouth, that was for sure. -"What? He gets nervous when other people see him fighting?" -Vulf could not help it, and an amused half-grin formed on his lips. He was in dire need of some material to pester his dearest vice-captain with, and he had just gotten somehting that could serve that purpose.
Regardless, the purple eyed young man would not make use of it at that moment, since he had other things to tend to, like Emily saying that Ardere probably would not mind hitting him a couple of times in retaliation to one of his previous comments. As expected, his reaction was near instantaneous, turning to the Kasai and faking the same voice tone a young child would use to complain to his father.
-Caaptaaain, Emily is being mean to me, what do I dooo -he pouted, although he was trying his hardest not to laugh. After that, the Lightning user would begin doing his stretchings to prepare for the upcoming race. However, something unexpected happened when Rem Minzoa decided to retire, something that of course he would not allow to slip by unnoticed, not after getting cheeky. Thus, he did not lose the chance to tease her about it; it was on his nature to jump at those opportunities.
-Whaat, quitting so soon? -he asked as he pouted again, though this time his smile was far more prominent. He moved to continue with some torso extensions, with an eye closed. -And after you promised to crush me in the race? That's such a pity~ -he said as he left them behind, taking the headstart for the race. -I guess Emily will end up racing for you both! -were the last words that came out of his mouth.
In the meantime, Silas and Ardere had began taking a swing at each other. The captain had masterfully avoided the Vermillion's initial assault, blocking his punches and jumping over the sweep while attempting a knee strike. -"As expected of the captain. His reactions are on point" -the young man nodded as he comfortably ran at an average mage's speed. However, he would soon have to avert his eyes from the fight, as the Lioness noticed he was gone, and darted off behind him followed by Uziah.
Emily yelled at him, saying she was not done yet, causing him to comfortably turn around so that he would be facing his pursuers. Now, running backwards, Vulf would retort to her question, hoping not to slam against a wall. Since he was going at ten meters per second, well below his maximum speed, he could do that while keeping the pace with no trouble at all. With his hands pocketed and a wink, the young man called her out on her logic.
-And you really thought saying that would make me want to wait for you? -he laughed, obviously enjoying himself. Giving them both one last glance before turning around, he would say something else before fully focusing on the race and drills, all while keeping an eye on the sparring between the two most powerful Crimson Lions.
-No way, let's make this fun, Emi, Uziah! Catch me if you can, kitties! -with that said, he decided to finally give it his all, and as he turned around, he maximized his speed at fifteen meters per second, which was more than enough to leave both Uziah and Emily behind, at least for the time being. He was lucky to have done so, because he almost went straight into the wall. Taking a sharp turn, however, Vulf would keep running, hopefully holding the first position for the remaining part of the race.
