ΩIt was just before twelve o' clock and Ivar had already fallen into lazy action. A late start to the morning was followed by not getting dressed as he felt it was pointless, a swift breakfast was made next, and then hopping into the family's nearby pond, leaping high into the air when leaping from the wooden dock. Though a pond it was abnormally deep, being at least over twenty feet despite being about twenty five foot in diameter.
Not exactly swimming, but rather wading in the water Ivar would eventually and lazily drift on over to the mud covered grassy edge.
Humming an eerie tune to himself with additional notes found through some light whistling he'd lay there, eyes closed, with his arms crossed behind his head, the palms of his hands cupping into one another as a rest for his head. Running his tongue over his the scarred flesh of his lower jaw before flicking the tip of it off of one of the the staple like jewelry pieces found all over the border of his burned and unharmed flesh. His mind could be found, as usual, drifting into the scene of the Giovanna compound before his attack and after, walking away wounded, but ending their bloodline while leaving the home to burn in his wake. He couldn't recall though, which had been louder, the cries of the dying, or the raging flames of the fire?
Smiling from ear to ear at the idea Ivar would let out a half laugh, which in itself was a subconscious attempt at hiding the mental damage he retained. Blinking for a moment he'd never truly keep his eyes wide open, the blinding light of the Sun only seen for a glimpse before he shut his scarred eyelids again.
This time his mind wandering to when he had met James Tiberius, the only man to have been truthful to him in his entire life, the man that had offered him a real family. Even if in the end Ivar was a bit antagonistic towards such "kin" like he was with his Brother Ramzes.
This thought brought Ivar to where he was presently however.
James had woken up early in the morning. Most of the time, he was up around five, and today was no exception. For the staff, this meant to be up around four to make sure there was food, a clean house and clothing for him and his family. They had four hours off during the afternoon, between one and five, and whilst the cook made sure there was food during the afternoon, most of them chose to be asleep unless they had business elsewhere. After all, James now and then had the tendency to be up during the night at the weirdest hours and his personal butler and the head of staff were up when he was up.
After he had a kingsmeal as breakfast he had seated himself within his study. The large chair stood before the fire place, another thing that was always lit whilst the curtains were always closed. Easy to say, it was a dark room, but James felt free there. He had seated himself properly within his chair with an ash tray that would be emptied after every cigarette by the head of staff. He wasn't in a cigarette mood however and instead reached for his private stash of cigars and started to contemplate his next move.
His boys, his men... his cousins, their training was starting to take shape. Of course Ramzes had years of training by the families combat instructor and the head of staff for etiquette. But Ivar wasn't letting him down either, even though it had only been half a year. It was easy to see that the two were both rivals and best friends. It would only be a matter of time and the two would be racing towards his own skill level. Of course he knew that it was going to be a hard thing to do for them. In all honesty, he was currently a good four times, if not five times, as strong as them and when they were at his level, he would have doubled his own level as well.
That didn't matter though. It was good for the two to have a strong figure in their life. It was very clear how different the two had taken his offer and the way they stood in relation to each other. James had been very clear from the start, and as someone without much feeling he had tried to keep it that way for as long as possible but couldn't blame the boys to give their own twist to it. For him, they were cousins that had a purpose. Of course he was fair to them, and after the death of his brother, they were the first to actually make him feel love and loved again. Truly, they were there to follow him without hesitation. Not without question, but without hesitation. Every action had a purpose, and whilst they were encouraged to have their own opinion, when things had to happen, they happened.
For Ivar however, James, Jonathan and Ramzes were his brothers. Of course, James was the eldest and the head of the family, but it was clear that there was more of a brotherly love, something that he and Jonathan once had when he was still alive. For Ramzes however, it was even more complicated. James knew he was looked at as father figure, whilst Ramzes looked at Ivar as a brother. All and all it was rather a weird triangle of family in the House of Tiberius, but in the end it didn't matter in James his opinion. What mattered was that everything was in place to get started. The boys had their respective magic knight squads. They were getting stronger, and last but not least, their bond was growing.
He contemplated a lot more, but after switching to his seventh cigar, he decided it was time to go outside and see what the boys had been up to. He put down the cigar and reached for his packet of cigarettes to start his usual habit again and relieved his head of staff from standing in cigar smoke. He pushed open the large doors of his study and left to head outside. After making his way to the garden he closed his eyes for a moment, focussing on where everyone was, vaguely based on their mana signature and approached Ramzes. "You were rather late out of bed today." He perked up an eyebrow as he took a long drag from his cigarette and continued speaking. "When your brother comes here, make sure you are both dressed and meet me in my study. Look your finest, will you."

The pain have started to subside each year, each day. The pain whic he endured for years before coming into this family. His days before were filled with agony and endless torture in different ways. His former parents would treat him as if he was a voodoo doll of life, just because they hated life and its surprises for them. It was a difficult time, his childhood but he was fortunate enough to have been blessed with an escape. An escape he did not and could not foresee but is grateful that it happened. So many events have unfolded since then. He has grown to be a polite yet sinister, friendly yet deadly. He has been groomed by the best of the best and have seen countless of goodness unfold with the perfect balance of seeing amounts of blood dropped. Of course, he has played his part and trained until he became as strong as he is today but he is aware that it does not stop there as he would want to be one of the strongest, if not the strongest for himself, Ivar, and James.
Yawning, he would look outside his window as the sun greeted him good morning. He woke up later than usual in which he might get a warning from James because of. Nevertheless, he rubbed his eyes as he slowly made his way towards his bathroom and got ready for the day. Ramzes did his usual routine; showering, brushing his teeth, and then fixing his hair. Hygiene is a big thing for him and would not want to be with anyone with poor hygiene so he would make sure to keep his hygiene good and well. He would continue to dress up with his usual look, a padded coat over a white polo and a tie with dark green pants and brown shoes. He is proud of the way he dresses, he thinks as if he looks better than most, looks more modern in their time than most.
The weather seemed better today. The sun watched over the house and the whole clover kingdom as people went on their days, some just starting to sleep and some already up and grinding. Ramzes was not one to complain about the weather but he prefers the sun rather than a sea of clouds with rain pouring down. He would exit his room and proceed to the dining table, preparing and cooking five eggs, toast, and orange juice. He would not take his time as he would quickly eat them and proceed to the garden with the purpose of relaxing and meditating. Ramzes would sit on the grass in an indian seat position and look at the sky with his eyes closed. It was a pleasure having the sun grace him and his skin this morning. Many things could be done after breakfast but on some days when the weather is participating he would rather take his time and meditate in their garden before doing his magic knight duties. As he would think about what his family James and Ivar were doing. Strangely enough, he would just notice Ivar in the garden as he stopped for awhile.
"I see you're dressed well." He told Ivar as he stood up from the grass and looked at him from head to toe. His brother was not the type to dress flashy like him. Nevertheless, he meant to say those words in a complimenting-ish vibe but it would depend on how his brother would see and react to what he said. "How have you been?" He later asked as he walked around the garden whistling. It was not as if he was not seeing his brother often, he was actually curious on how Ivar has been since they have both joined the magic knights though in different squads. "Also, have you seen James lately? I have not heard from father in awhile. I hope he's not smoking too much." Saying, showing affection and care in his words. James and Ivar were the only people that he truly cared about. Sure he appreciates those who trained and groomed him growing up such as their butlers in the house but when it comes to being sincere and genuine they were all poured on Ivar and James, his newfound family from the age of 16.
ΩEventually Ivar would let his laziness take over once more, drifting into a short lived nap before foot steps against dry grass stirred him awake. The next thing he heard was his older Brother's voice and from the first word Ivar already knew he was to be tasked with one thing or another. Eyes flickering open slowly Ivar would watch his Brother from his still laying down position, putting James inside an upside down frame of view.
" I snooze, I lose, I know. Hmph, sorry Big Bro'. I'll go find the little guy now and go get dressed asap. "
Popping his neck from side to side before pushing off from the shore and diving back into the pond before swimming back to the dock. Moving across the way he'd watch James approach the house once more with his peripheral vision, though Ivar's eyes took him elsewhere. Soon he was to find his little Brother in the garden elsewhere. Before Ivar could speak he found himself losing the race to Ramzes this time, his younger sibling's words causing the scarred Mage to yawn loudly until he chose to give his own reply.
" Finest swimming trunks in all of the land, save for maybe James' I'm sure... "
A loud sigh would then slip from out of his lungs, the fact that Ramzes considered James to be their Father drove Ivar insane and yet he was sure that his younger sibling innocently forgot this fact. Or was Ramzes more spiteful than Ivar gave him credit for?
" Can you not? He's our Big Brother, not our Father. Fathers leave their children to fend for themselves, Brothers are there for you for a life time. "
Rolling his eyes he'd nonetheless pop his neck once more before waving Ramzes on toward the direction of the house.
" Anyways Big Bro' is in the study, he said to meet him there when you're ready. I'll be last to join, obviously he doesn't want me in trunks for the meeting, even if it I am indeed dressed well, hahaha. "
Mocking his Brother a little this time Ivar would then begin to strut his own way back to the house. Happening upon his bedroom in due time he'd switch out his trunks for proper attire, skipping out on underwear per usual. Throwing on his usual attire, which was clothing made up of common/worn down appearing pieces, but were made with some of the most expensive materials and by some of the most expensive tailors around.
Moving then toward the study of the house Ivar would arrive somewhat fashionably late to the meeting. Closing the doors slowly behind him after having stepped inside the room Ivar then would move to pour himself a glass of red wine off to the distant side of the study.
" I hope you didn't start without me my dear Brothers. "
The study was poorly lit, as it was always. The curtains were closed, a fire was burning in the fireplace and the air was almost blue from the smoke that was not allowed to leave the room. On all walls, large bookcases were erected filled to the brim with grimoires on illusion magic and transformation magic, special potions and things a like. A huge part of it were a few books that looked rather macabre. Snakes and death was a huge part of the book spines and whilst it was important to note that most of it was very old, there was a top layer that seemed to be rather new. The books had a black cover and the only thing that could indicate anything were golden letters J and T on their spines.
In the back of the study, there was a large terrarium with just some generic flora in there. But upon closer inspection, and in the amount of smoke that was in the room you had to stand almost on top of it, you'd be able to see snake that was around one meter in length. It seemed peaceful and didn't seem to lash out, and especially seemed endearing to James. Back to the middle of the room, in front of the large fireplace was a big chair with a small table besides it. Next to it was a stool that would commonly be used when James had to berate staff or his family members, but most of the time it was never used.
Towards the windows, that were hidden with curtains, stood a huge desk, with behind it another large chair that. On the top of the desk, there was a large ash tray that was completely clean, boxes of cigarettes and cigars were ordered on color and type. Matchboxes were stacked, and in the middle of all the tobacco order, was an open book with no content, whilst a magic quill was beside it. In front of the desk were two average chairs, and next to the large desk stood the chief of staff, James' personal butler that periodically emptied the ash-tray to keep the desk look organized at all time.
Behind the desk sat James, a large cigar in his hand that was burning, whilst he was blowing out smoke in the form of large O's. He had waited for his two cousins to enter the study and as everyone was in, James waved the chief of staff away. The man bowed towards the three and left whilst closing the door behind him. James looked at the two before him as he motioned them to take a seat. It was not really a request but it was a polite command. He took a large drag from his cigar before sliding the cigar inbetween his fingers.
"It's time to start talking about your respective branches and your goals here in Tiberius. I hope you have something prepared."
The three of them were situated inside of James' study. A room filled with a calm atmosphere yet a mysterious one, well lit from the light above them and the fire ignited in the fireplace, and shrouded with James' cigar smoke. This was where James spends most of his time. Books that were owned by James were also situated here with the initials "JT" written on the spine. World class, this study is. This belongs to what Ramzes considers as his new father, one of the greatest men in the world, James Tiberius. In the Purple Orca mages' eyes this man is his savior in most things. James have saved both Ivar and Ramzes in situations such as their past life and the most recent, battling someone like Lorenzo. Day by day his respect and admiration towards James grows acting as gasoline to the fire inside him created by James. Anywhere this family goes, Ramzes goes. Any situation that he is in need of he will drop everything to be present. There are no hesitations and doubts, just wide eyed following and 'love'. The boy around the room inspecting everything that's in it. He would slowly walk past Ivar and James' chair to observe what seems to be a snake hidden in smoke. Interesting. It has always been there so it is no surprise that it is tame around his masters. 'I'd like to have a pet of my own someday too.' Ramzes thought to himself as he smiled, jogging back to the chair in front of James' desk where he is supposed to be seated.
Ramzes sat down and crossed both his legs and arms. His leg swaying from front to back as he listened to James speak to them about their goals and respective branches in the family. The boy was aware that he was going to be in charge of one. He was just waiting for James to set up a meeting about the topic to talk. This was it, and the perfect timing. "I've given it much thought." Ramzes spoke, looking directly at James' eyes as it is disrespectful to talk to someone without looking at them. "I'll be your hands, father. I will do whatever deed is needed of and from you so that you won't get yours dirty. May it be as little as delivering hand written letters of information risky for ravens to bring or killing of people and disposing of bodies, I will be your man. I will need some people, but I'll take care of that. You can expect nothing more and less, James." Ending his sentence with a firm look on his face. Yes, the military branch. However rough the situation may come physically Ramzes is keen to be the one to handle that without discrediting his brother Ivar. His wraith magic user relative is capable of doing so as well, but Ramzes believes that there are things he can't do that Ivar can, such as detecting enemy presence or research.
With belief and without doubts, the brown haired boy spoke again to assure James that he will not fail at this job. "I have honed my skills with the help of others, most especially ones in the Tiberius household, to be capable of doing such a job and would never suggest something that I cannot do." As his turn to speak was done, he crossed his arms and legs again and looked down with his eyes closed as he listened as he went into a deep thought. 'In order for me to do this successfully, I need to get stronger... as strong as James... no, even stronger. Blood on my hands is what I'll expect and should get used to. I'll be better than who I am today. Watch me dominate.'
[attr="class","ivarscroll"]" Blehh, that stinking tobacco...what a drag. "
The thought would cross Ivar's mind as he and Ramzes entered the study, the blue smog in the room nearly making him nauseous despite his own act of smoking herbal and rose hip blend cigarettes. Popping his neck to the left in an eerie fashion he'd find himself then taking a seat before even being motioned to do so, or rather just moments before. Sitting in his chair in an odd and informal fashion, Ivar's rear would find itself on top of the back of the chair while his clean shoes rested on the seat of the chair itself. Ivar did this in part due to his annoyance of being in the tobacco filled room as well as his innate fear of the snake James kept in the study.
Ivar hated serpents.
" You've got that snake kept up right James?...Heh "
Taking the time then to retrieve his own cigarette box he would light up one of his joints, inhaling deeply while focusing on it's different scent opposed to the smell of James' cigar. Soon enough though James would come to explain why they had been brought to the study, James being direct and to the point as usual. Following the short and sweet explanation Ramzes would speak first, opting to be James "Hands" though the explanation of such seemed to interfere with Ivar's own concept of what he wanted to achieve, being James' "Eyes & Ears" which would involve all things espionage.
" Ahem, if I may...
If you're going to be the Hands my dear Ramzes, then might you be more physical, more...uh...direct? I'd say a sort of militarized sub-group?
I say this because I seek to be the family, James', Eyes and Ears, this of course would entail spying, sending secret information to and fro, all that sort of jazz, yeah?
Long term goal would be to take over the criminal underworld with myself on top of it's throne, tell me that wouldn't be a great resource to the family, no?!
Beyond this, we can share any assassination jobs Ramzes? The Hands can work with the Eyes and Ears sometimes, right? "
Chuckling lightly to himself Ivar would take another pull from his joint before holding in his inhale, his eyes shifting from Ramzes to James and then back, exhaling only when he sought to continue speaking again.
" When I'm starting up, I might request The Hands to help push...or rather enforce my group's efforts as not everyone can be persuaded with words and until I have the numbers, well yeah...What do you say Ramzes, sound like a plan? "
Feeling as if more of the adoptive family tended to side toward Ramzes or James, Ivar knew/figured he'd have to work twice as hard and with fewer individuals at his side, with their numbers only slowly increasing as opposed to the others.
" Long live the Emperor, James Tiberius, huhuhu. "
Though Ivar would laugh as he finished speaking it clearly wasn't meant to be disrespectful, or rather a boast as he would do whatever it took to ensure not only his own goals, but James' as well.
James looked at the two before him. He had asked a simple question in his eyes. At least simple enough for them to answer in tandem, but apparently it wasn't as worked out yet as he had hoped. First he had something else to adress however. "The serpent stays in there for now, but soon it will be too big to be in the terarrium. So it will be the moment where I keep him with me at all times. Do not worry however, it only bites when you threaten me, so that ensures your safety at all times." He says with a light smile on his face. He reached for his desk as he took out another ash-tray and slid in front of Ivar without any question and sat back in his chair as he heard the two speak of their plans.
Apparently there was already overlap, and overlap was not efficient. It was something he had to adress. He reached for the empty book before him and started writing down what he was being told and what the two were discussing as he looked at them with a light frown of concentration. He took another drag from his cigarette and puffed out circles whilst waiting for them to finish. Once they had both spoken he took another large drag and blew out a long line of smoke. It was apparent that he was sighing at the same time as the silence between the three had now started. He let the words come into his mind and read them again once more before he started deciding things.
"So, we have at one part, a division that wishes to be my hands, and one division that wishes to be my eyes and ears. The hands-on and the intelligence network. An interesting combination. But I also hear a certain plan on how you want to proceed and where you want to go in terms of end-goal for the eyes and ears division. Correct?" It was a rethorical question that he already knew the answer of. He had just heard it and so after taking a drag he continued. "Though I admire the plan, I wonder how far you are going. Soon we shall join up others that seek to create voids of power and claim the underground kingdom. It would only interfere with the plans of those would you actually have it. Though I'm certain that you will be able to aid them properly. Therefor it's very simple." He said as he took another drag from his cigarette. He had to make sure that what he was about to say was well formulated and he took a moment of silence to find the correct words.
"Ramzes, your plan requires but a single thing. Bodies that you can use to do the dirty jobs, the ground work. But it requires something else too, places where to do things discreetly and things alike. This means you'll have to work closely together with the eyes and ears with everything you do. If I give you an order, I need to trust you to do things exactly right. The eyes and ears will aid you to their full extent with this in terms of keeping things under the rug and everything else that is needed." He said before he took a drag from his cigarette and pushed down some ash on the ash tray before him. "That leaves the Eyes and Ears. As I have said, it's probably not possible to enact your plan without interfering with individuals that we are going to need on our side. That doesn't mean you cannot be of their assistance which translates to the following. I need you to everything in your power to lay the foundation of your plan. Contacts, friends, places, tools of thievery and war alike, and anything else that you'd need for this. Of course that means you'll have to sometimes grease some hands and make things interesting. That's why I give you a part of the houses budget to get everything in order. It also means having man-power to lay these foundations."
He had said enough in his mind, but he had one last thing to adress. The assinations thing that they were thinking of both having. "For the thing that you both share ground on, it is very adamant to choose the right man for the right target. You will have to take a look at who does what and assassinations will not be within either of your superiority. If someone dies, it goes by me unless self-defense or when we are facing opposition for our own plans. Submit your choice of assassin to me when this commences unless I'm otherwise occupied. I trust you two can make these decisions on your own when I'm busy. When there are high valued target's out of your leage, do not hesitate to ask me as the assassin. I won't do it if there are other options available, but sometimes I shall be the right man for the job. The last thing I say about this... kill at your own digression. If you are arrested, I will let you fall, unless I see the availability to get you out of the prison. Do -not- get yourself killed."
He felt like he had explained enough of what he expected from the both of them. But it would be important for them to know exactly what his branch was supposed to do. He took another drag from his cigarette as he reached over to a cigar and lit it on fire with a match that was close in his vicinity and started spewing out vanilla smoke. "I'll enlighten you what you both can expect from me. It is fairly simple. Me and my branch basically sits in here or runs errands for me whilst we plot our big plans and grand schemes. Whatever comes out of the Thinktank that we will call the main-branch shall be passed on to your branches with respective idea's and directives. Sometimes we will need intel on things so that we can do more research and make better plans, it will be something we will use the Eyes and Ears division for, or do it ourselves. What ever directive comes out of this, follow it to the letter. There is no room for error, even if the task seems only small. We make sure that everything you do has meaning for our larger plan, whatever that may be."
He looked at the two and figured that he had spoken a lot. He felt like it was time for them to speak again as he looked at the two of them. "Do you have any questions about your own branches, what you have to do, what I expect from you, and last but not least, about my own branch? Or is there anything you'd like to discuss further?" He said as he continued blowing circles into the room that smelled like sweet vanilla. He took the cigar out of his mouth to push some ash in the ash-tray and offered a cigar to Ivar.
