The Slaughtered Lamb Tavern, a local pub that boasted some of the best, if not the best local stew as well as earned it's name for being one of the shadier joints in Sosshi.
Because of these lone facts it was no surprise that when not at the Black Bull Magic Knight Squad's base, Griffith Pendrake could be found at the establishment, lotting himself in with the rest of the unsavory kind. Chowing down on his more than fair portion of stew along with oil and peppered bread, he'd wash it down with a flagon of wine before then going on to sew seeds of evil. In this Griffith shifted from his lone corner in the tavern and would make his way to some familiar faces, a small bandit group that often sold him information and the like upon request.
" Anything new Brick Gang? Some peculiar spoils? Some heavy words worth their weight? I've got the coin to match any information you guys got, y'know I'll match and top whatever some Green Mantis offers you, yeah? Just spill the beans boys. "
Watching the tattooed, scarred, all bald group of shortish men Griffith would retain a lazy gaze, their shifting gazes, devlish smiles, and sneers of glee at the thought of gold coins stirring an unbothered sigh from his lungs. When the whispers died down the burliest of the group would take forward position, meeting Griff ahead of the others then, finally giving his reply.
It was Brick.
" Yeah, man, yeah. But, y'know since last time the price has gone up by twenty-three percent, those Mantis' don't like you scalpers, haha, not one bit! I mean...we haven't sold you out or anything, neutral parties and all, but you best watch who's watchin' you, y'know?! We'll even give you that tid bit for free, hahahaha! "
Rolling his eyes, lazily, Griffith would merely nod, slightly clapping his hands and thanking the musty group of bandits.
" Well done, thank you for informing me of the increased cost of your product free of charge, much gratitude, but ahem...Onto more important things, because insects do not inspire worry in a dragon, have you heard anything about the border to Diamond Kingdom? Any soldiers seen crossing the way? On either side....? "
As he spoke his last words Griffith would whisper, moving in close to Brick so only he could hear before pulling back, his own eyes then moving about the room to ensure privacy was afforded. This was due to the meaning of his words, asking about potential scouting parties from either Diamond or Clover Kingdom, proving that the youth's loyalties to his home were questionable, at least when compared to the bond with his family...which was non existent sine his exilement had taken effect and he had taken the Pendrake name, reviving the lost bastardized surname of the Pendragons.
" Haha, hmmm. Y'know it's a bit too hostile for us to go anywhere near the border, we've been sticking to picking up pirate scraps on small fishing towns lately. Best we could tell you is that most of the bigger crews haven't been at port in a while, meaning their still raiding, or they're coming back...But, since the towns are still popping they're easy...fish, hahahaha, so I'm not sure the ol' sea dogs are coming home anytime soon. Might mean a mission or two could show up on some boards here soon, hunt down some Pirate goons ay'? You call us if you do, we're not about to go out of our way to fight em', but if you're paying, y'know. Hahaha, uh, anyways that's it really kid, sorry the weights light on our end this time around boyo', but the cost is still gonna' getcha'. Haha! "
Already having gathered the coin into a small bag by time Brick had finished speaking Griffith would annoyingly slap it into the bandit's hands before turning away, shifting back over into his lone corner to lurk the entire tavern from his shadowed position.
" Fucking bald headed bastards, they get worse every meeting, I'm beginning to question their usefulness...Still...Taking down some pirates? Sounds easy and fun too, hmmm.... "
