“Examinee #014. Riley… Silva. You do understand that this is a… stealth mission, right?” the man asked with a bit of a concerned tone. “Your track record here doesn’t exactly lead to me believing that you’d be the most wonderful mage for the job.” he said. Riley shook his head, “I understand what I have to do.” the teen responded with a smile. Stealth was going to be a breeze this time around. It was simple really, right? He just had to go around on his tippy toes right? It was safe to say that the Silva’s idea of stealth was not most effective. However, he was still eager to take on the challenge. After all, he had to do everything he could in order to become a Magic Knight. The boy took a deep breath and stepped through the magic portal that would take him to his destination. Riley scanned the area around him briefly and felt lost for a second, but then someone appeared through the portal behind him. Riley immediately recognized him as the exam proctor and gave a confused look as to why he followed him in there. He was wearing a dumbfounded face, staring at the Silva boy while holding a letter in his hand. Riley looked down at the letter and then back up at the man. The knight simply shoved the letter against the silver-haired mage’s chest. “It’s the information you were supposed to take. You ran off so fast I didn’t get the chance to give it to you.” he said. [break][break] Riley laughed a bit awkwardly and gave the man a sheepish smile. “Oh, right. Sorry about that. But don’t worry I promise I won’t mess up again!” he said with enthusiasm. The knight sighed, “Yeah let’s hope so.” he said before stepping back through the portal, leaving the Silva to his own wits. Riley had read over the mission briefing beforehand. Apparently he had to break into someone’s home and plant the letter he was given into some box that was going to be delivered to the enemy. It was fake information that needed to be delivered behind enemy lies, which meant that he had to be completely stealthy for it to work. Something that didn’t seem too hard at first glance, but Riley knew that his idea of stealth was a bit… unconventional. Either way, failure wasn’t an option. He couldn’t afford to get caught like he did on his last mission. The water mage was thankful that it was already night time outside. This meant that his little stealth operation would be much easier. Riley approached the rat’s house and hid behind a bush. The man had golems patrolling the area, but apparently they weren’t able to sense him. “Maybe he’s not strong enough to make the golems able to sense things. Either that or I’m just lucky.” the Silva thought to himself. He took a peek above the greenery and noticed the three or four golems circling the establishment. He tried counting but he was afraid of being seen. “I have to find a way to sneak past those idiots.” the teen thought to himself, looking around for anything he could potentially use to aid him in his endeavor. The Silva took a deep breath as he prepared to formulate a plan. He was only going to have a single shot at getting into the house undetected, so he had to make it count. “There isn’t going to be a do over if I mess this up here. This has to be the most successful mission I’ve ever pulled off or I can kiss my chance with the knights goodbye.” he thought to himself, gritting his teeth with a bit of a distressed expression on his face. That’s when it hit him. The teen held out his hand, examining his palm. “Wait a minute… I’m overthinking this I hope.” the water mage thought to himself. Usually he always thought of stealth missions requiring the ability to be really good at sneaking around, but perhaps there was an unconventional method of sneaking for an unconventional mage such as himself. He took another peek above the bushes and took note of the golems still circling the house in the same pattern that they were earlier. “I bet these guys are dumb as rocks. They don’t look too bright, and if they could sense mana at its source then they would’ve found me already. I can’t hide my magical power to save my own life.” he reasoned. “If that’s the case, then using my magic as a primitive distraction should work like a charm.” the Silva thought to himself. He crouched back down behind the bushes and held his hand above the greenery. The mage fired off a random blob of water that was aimed at another bush. [break][break] The first shot was a test. After firing, he took another peek at the constructs, noticing that the sound of footsteps had ceased. “They stopped moving.” he thought to himself. He took a look at where he shot his water attack and noticed that the magical soldiers were looking at the puddle the magical water blob left behind. “Alright time to let another one loose.” the Silva said to himself quietly as he fired off another shot of water. This attack hit a bush, completely shredding the leaves off it. Just like before, in apparent confusion, the golems stopped to take a look at the water puddle. Riley took his opportunity and got up from his spot, passing the golems’ patrol route on his way into the rat’s home. Once inside, he searched around a little bit. “That package has got to be around here somewhere.” the silver-haired mage thought. He was trying to make his steps as light as possible for fear that the man who owned the home would wake up. Riley noticed a crate on the ground next to his foot. Honestly the box was so huge he was surprised he didn’t see it as soon as he walked in, even if they were in the dark. He quietly lifted the lid of the box just a little before slipping the note into it. The Silva let a smile creep onto his face as he slowly lowered the lid of the box.
