Riley was feeling good after completing his first mission just the other day. “If i keep moving like this I’m sure to become one of the top candidates for the Magic Knights.” the teen told himself. He moved over to the mission area so that he could be transported to the mission’s specified location. The Silva last went on a combat mission, however, this was a rescue mission so the conditions would be a bit different. Just like before, upon their go, Riley entered the magical portal. He appeared in the center of what seemed like a normal town for a brief second or two. Then all of a sudden an explosion rang out from behind the teen. He turned around only to see the top of a building on fire. Another spell was fired off, but this time Riley saw it. He watched the fireball travel across the skyline and crash into another building on the other side of town. “What’s going on?!” he asked himself in a panic. He knew that as a Magic Knight they’d have to deal with enemies that threatened the safety of the kingdom, but if this was what he was signing up for, then he was starting to have second thoughts. “No… I can’t just back down. It’s not what she would do.” he thought to himself. He had to find whoever was doing this and stop them immediately. Just as the water mage was about to take off, he felt a tugging on his jacket. He looked down to see a little girl who couldn’t have been any older than eight or nine. [break][break] Just as he knelt down to her level, the Silva heard more footsteps quickly approaching. He looked up to see more people, obviously not soldiers, but regular citizens perhaps. “Are you a Magic Knight?” the little girl asked. Riley considered running for a second. Initially, he was probably just as scared as they were of the situation, but it was just something about the little girl’s expression that made him realize something. For the first time, someone else was counting on him for something, and he had zero intentions of letting her down. He stood up and shook his head, “No, I’m not a magic Knight just yet, but I will definitely get you all out of here.” Riley said. There were three groups of about five to eight villagers who all looked like they desperately needed help. None of them looked like soldiers so fighting back was not an option they had. The silver-haired boy would just have to lead them away from the attack while protecting them in the process. “Alright you guys. Follow me to safety and you’ll be okay. You’re all scared, and so am I, but I’m going to do what I can do keep you all safe.” he said to them. Could he really keep that promise, or was he just way too caught up in the moment? There would only be a single way to find out. [break][break] WC: 505|TWC: 505

Riley picked a direction and motioned for the groups to follow him. As it stood he didn’t know where in the village the attackers were stationed, but he just had to hope that they weren’t in a position to be intercepted by the wielders of such magic. If it came down to an altercation, the water mage didn’t know how well he would fair against the enemies. The teen wanted to carry out the rescue as quickly as possible, running down the street through the town. The villagers were a good distance behind him, just in case something popped out in front of Riley. He didn’t want them taking collateral damage from something that was aiming for him. The only major weakness was that he couldn’t cover their backside. However, he’d just have to work around that disadvantage when the issue presented itself. As of now, he was only focused on finding a straight shot out of the town. Just then, a wave of flames emerged from somewhere on his left, blazing a trail across the path in front of him. The Silva slid to a stop in order to avoid being burned. Immediately, Riley heard some gasps of shock from the villagers behind him. Last time he was faced with a fire it was no big deal, and he didn’t even have a grimoire at that time. However, that situation felt a lot different this one. He was dealing with actual attackers, but was overall tasked with saving the people he swore that oath of promised safety too. “For that reason, I won’t stop here.” he thought to himself as he took in a big breath of mana. “Water Creation Magic: Water Dragon’s Roar!” Riley shouted. Two jet streams of water burst from his mouth, spiraling around one another in close conjunction in order to form a pseudo-drill. [break][break] The drill crashed right into the wall of fire, and immediately, that section was extinguished. The silver-haired teen kept up his attack and narrowed the stream, increasing its pressure. He then turned his head in a horizontal fashion to target the rest of the fire wall. The Silva’s water attack was able to successfully and effectively quell the flames that threatened the group. However, now was the time to move. They got lucky this time, but maybe they wouldn’t be so lucky next time. Either way, given the situation, it was a chance Riley didn’t want to take. He quickly motioned for the villagers to keep following him and then took off again. Thankfully, spotting a way out didn’t prove to be too difficult. However, like all things that seemed too good to be true, this also was one of them. A single mage stood atop of some scaffolding near the exit. He had a clear shot on the villagers from his elevated position and was prepared to utilize it. “Flame Magic: Ignis Cleaver!” he shouted. A spiraling tomahawk ax came barreling towards the group of villagers. The Silva reacted quickly, sliding to a stop as he dove back towards the villagers, placing his body between the ax and the group. “Water Reinforcement Magic: Water Dragon’s Liquid Barrier!” the teen shouted mid-dive. A thin layer of water covered his body just before the ax slammed into his back, throwing him to the ground in an instant. “Guess… my defenses weren’t strong enough.” he mumbled as he slowly got back to his feet. [break][break] Not wasting any time, Riley quickly ran towards the scaffolding. Another axe was launched off, impaling itself into the Silva’s shoulder. The water mage cried out in pain once again as this time his defense was no help at all. Riley made one last jump for the scaffolding and reeled back his fist. “Water Reinforcement Magic: Water Dragon’s Liquid Knuckle!” he shouted. A sturdy layer of water encased the boy’s fist as he delivered a powerful punch to the weak scaffolding, causing it to collapse, dropping the man to the ground along with it. Assuming he was no more of a threat, Riley waved the rest of the villagers to run by him and get out of the town while the man was still down. Riley stayed behind to make sure he didn’t try anything else. [break][break] WC: 707|TWC: 1,212
