"The endless hurt of others pains me."
Sylvester was late for breakfast but enjoyed a meal nevertheless. He had overslept a little due to the sleep deprivation from the missions he had been on the past few weeks. Some of them were fun, like the dungeon that he had enjoyed doing together with his now good friends. But others were brutal, like taking down a lot of citizens due to their rebellious nature. He knew it was what he had to do, but still, it gave him nightmares, and as he was eating his English breakfast, he contemplated his dreams and feelings. More often than not these days, the world burned before his eyes and he wasn't certain he could keep this double life that he had up. The biggest problem was that he was getting fond of where he had settled one side of his life now. It was better than a wet cave, where people weren't safe by definition. He shook away the thought and was glad there was no such thing as mind reading. One of the errand runners of the day quickly dropped off a note, and he was certain that this day was a working day again. He quickly read the note and nodded with relief.
"You have been ordered to be in the attending staff when our newest member arrives. It is your duty to show him the way through the headquarters and figure out if this member has potential. You will not do this alone, there will be other members on standby or actively joining these happenings. You have twenty minutes to arrive in the courtyard."The note said and Sylvester pushed it down again. He quickly finished his eggs and bacon before he made a quick stop at his room. Because he had been later, he was barely dressed, and he quickly fitted himself with the Golden Dawn mantle, together with his magic sword that he moved on his back. He made sure everything was well strapped on and cracked his neck a few times. He hoped that he was not the only one to stand there and that these active people were the ones that he had became so familiar with.
He checked the clock in his room whilst contemplating what he was about to do. Were they actively going to roam the halls first, or should they test him out first? Was it going to be a magical test? He wasn't certain, some members joined the Golden Dawn on sheer talent alone without much magical utility. They'd be quickly trained and readied for combat of course, and you'd already need a basis of the sorts, but whether it would be fair to assume this of the new kid, he wasn't certain. At least they were to make sure he belonged here, and perhaps some easy training exercise would be enough. He looked on the clock again as he shook his head, he had been lost in thought for way too long again and he made his way out towards the courtyard running and wheezing.
He stood there, waiting for the others and for their new arrival, now and then adjusting his attire, but for now, this was going to be good enough. The courtyard was a beautiful place, but also a useful one. It served a multi-purpose, where there were targets on one side, a beautiful fountain in the middle and wallflowers rose up on the buildings surrounding the courtyard. A place to relax, yet a place to train, and with the fountain that was made out of expensive material, the large courtyard was simply breathtaking. But now, before the entrance stood Sylvester, ready to welcome whoever came through the door.
Ezzelin looked around his small home for what seemed like the thousandth time since he had woken up. He bathed in his meager tub, brushed his teeth and sat down to a breakfast of bread, a bit of soft cheese and an apple. He was used to meager living, after all he had grown up in the poor part of a poor town. He was no stranger to eating small portions to preserve what little food there was to be had, or going hungry because he couldn’t afford a single morsel. It was a hard life, especially for a child, but that was about to change for him, today to be precise. He had been accepted as a Magic Knight into the Golden Dawn squad and he was moving in later.
He finished his breakfast and washed his few dishes before standing in the middle of the space. In a few hours he would be living in one of the lavish places he would ever see in his life. He had heard rumors of the Golden Dawn base, how it was more breathtaking than any of the others combined. The very floors were paved with gold, some would say, and when the setting sun struck it, the building sparkled like a thousand precious jewels. The information was a bit daunting, but it also left a hum of excitement under his skin. He loved nice things as many of those who were raised poor do. He wouldn’t miss this place, not really. He needed to pack. And decide what he was going to wear. So much to do, so little time.
He flit around his home, collecting items and placing them into piles of “keep” and “toss”. He was assuming his living quarters weren’t going to have as much storage space as the house, but even if they did he didn’t have enough luggage to accommodate all of the bric a brac he had laying around. He would probably wind up putting the good stuff somewhere they could be found by a person who might not be able to afford them. He may not like people all that much, but he could be a good samaritan when he wanted to be. And hour passed by as he meticulously organized and cleaned the one story abode. He went through all of his reading books and personal journals, his clothing. He got everything he was taking with him in two bags and the rest into piles. As he thought he would, he took what he wasn’t taking to an alley by his house and found that some kinds were rifling through it before he even closed his door.
Ezzelin finally got dressed, putting his night clothes away neatly in his bag. He decided to look the part of a dignified member of Golden Dawn today. He wore long white pants tailored to be slim and a white shirt. He draped his Golden Dawn mantle over his shoulders and pulled on a pair of white boots with golden trim. He pulled the whole look together with his favorite fur coat. It fell down to the middle of his calves and was made from heavenly soft arctic hare. He couldn’t help running his fingers through the material whenever he wore it. He took one last moment to look around his empty home, letting the nostalgia wash over him. It was soon overtaken by anticipation, so he simply turned on his heel and left.
The walk through Kikka, where he had lived for about three years now, to the Noble region was at the same time extremely long and yet not long enough. He loved walking, it let him clear his head and the burn in his legs was sobering. He also loved watching the people and scenery as he passed. Things could be fascinating when you watched from the sidelines, he often found. But not long he was in the Royal Capitol, the palace closer than he had ever seen it before. He had been given directions to the Golden Dawn’s base and had committed it to memory.
When Ezzelin found his way to his new home, it was like time had come to a near standstill. He took in the guild building in awe, his mouth agape in a small ‘o’. His cerulean orbs zipped this way and that as he took in the gold of the building. The perfect craftsmanship, the wonderful design. It would definitely be the most extravagant place he had ever stepped foot in, let alone lived in. As he walked through into the courtyard and his eyes were drawn immediately to the fountain at the center. Everything was so...beautiful, it thoroughly shocked him “I feel like I would spoil anything I touched here...I wonder if other nobles live in such extravagant spaces...” That put a sour taste in his mouth almost immediately “Hmph. Not the time. I wonder where I go from here…"
He heard the knock on his door, and he bolted awake. Vulkan wasn't fond of staying within the Golden Dawn base, but during the week he had to, and he spent the weekends at home with his mother, and Alphonse. Well when he was able to stay with him he did, if there was important missions, or something he wasn't able to, but he had to admit no place felt quite like home. Opening his door with just his shorts on he was handed a letter. Reading it he quickly looked at the messenger, and then at himself, and then without so much as a word he slammed the door shut, and began trying to get ready. Hastily he threw on his pants, and his normal black shirt. Finding his robe on the back of his chair he threw that over his shoulders, and bolted out of his room going at full speed. He had no clue when this person was arriving, or if they had already arrived.
If he was late he was sure that the captain would have his head, probably not literally, but Captain Arthurius was someone that he didn't want to particularly upset. He had seen potential in Vulkan, and he was gonna do his best to live up that potential. Sprinting all full he rounded the corner, and then without meaning to slammed into someone hard. The force was enough to knock him on his butt, and he looked to see who he had just hit. It was a boy who seemed around his age, wearing long white pants, and some kind of fur coat. Vulkan didn't recognize them at a glance, and after getting back up he extended a hand to the stranger that he had just knocked over. A bit embarrassed he his face was incredibly red.
"Er sorry...I didn't mean to run into you like that. I'm just late for some kind of meeting, and wasn't paying attention. I guess we're getting a newbie today, and the Captain wants me, and some others to check them out. Were you heading over to the courtyard to?" he said politely to the stranger. He had been going out on so many missions lately that it was no surprise he didn't recognize this person, he really only could recognize Sylvester, and Zaven at a glance. But he also spent a ton of time with, not to mention he had to invite them over to his other home this weekend. Hopefully his mom would like them, and then he would tell them who he really was.
"Well hey, let's hurry up, I don't like disappointing the captain, he can be kinda scary." Vulkan chuckled a bit nervously, and then after helping the stranger up if they accepted his hand, he'd lead them down to the courtyard where he saw Sylvester waiting for them, along with a few other people that had probably gotten the same order they did. "Oh Sylvester! You're here! Thank goodness...I'm not super late then! Is Zaven gonna be here as well?" he questioned the blood mage wondering if the last member of their Golden Trio was gonna be present. "Oh yeah I bumped into another straggler on the way here, er well...More like I ran into them full speed, but I think they are here to greet the new guy as well." he smiled politely completely oblivious to the fact that the person he had bumped into was the newbie.
No knock this time, just a simple note slid under his door as footsteps could be heard walking away in a hurry. "Light-footed, maybe a female...carrying herself in a hurried fashion heading to someplace, maybe it was the mail girl..." He said as he laid in his bed, Zaven was not particularly fond of laying up between jobs, but the week had been quiet and he was not about to go get in trouble at the kitchen again, he did not think Head Chef Romero appreciated his antics last time. Regardless he got out of his bed as he grabbed the note and opened it, reading it quietly to himself as he chuckled quietly to himself as he folded it back up and laid it on his end table to the side of the bed. He had to report in the courtyard in about twenty minutes, and as he gazed at the clock he saw he had about fifteen if he just went dressed as he currently was. With a sigh, though he dressed in his noble clothes, the suit he wore to the Gala and the Knight's Mantle before heading off with about seven minutes to spare.
When he arrived he saw that Sylvester was already waiting as he walked out and gave a simple wave to announce his presence before walking out into the sun. "So I hear we got a new one to add huh? Did the captain say he was joining us today or is this a guided tour from us?" He asked with a yawn.
Eli laid lazily in bed, as was usual. His long right leg and arm hanging off the large bed. His blanket barely covering his tall fairly muscled body. His dark green hair was a mess, and a puddle of drool had formed on Eli's pillow. Breathing heavily as he was lost in his lazy slumber. Eli didn't have an excuse like most of the other members. It wasn't because he was working harder than normal. He hadn't been up training. No, Eli was simply lazy. He always had been, It drove his parents crazy. How could the son of the noble house Mason be such a lazy slob? Eli didn't care enough to answer such a question. But to be fair Eli had been away for a while. On some what of a mission himself. Something between work and personal.
Eli's deep slumber was interrupted by a loud knock... then another. Most people were accustomed to having to be louder to get Eli's attention out of slumber. Eli's tall body shot up as he choked on a bit of his saliva and wiped his face. "Huh? Who?... WHAT?!" Eli shouted out still in a bit of a tired daze. He noticed the note sliding under the door and lazily pulled himself out of bed and read the letter. "Hm... Looks like I'll actually be here to welcome this one... Maybe I'll meet some of the others too.." Eli had gotten to know some of the members during the war.. But since then he has kept to himself mostly, as well as going out and meeting commoners.
Eli pulled his clothes off the floor and threw them on. A Pair of blue slacks, a white shirt with a loose black tie, and a blue sport's coat. It was obvious the clothing was higher end, but... Was covered in wrinkles and even lazily thrown on. Though the clothes were nice, the manner Eli wore them made him out to be a bit of a slob. Eli took his time, brushing his teeth, but not giving the same treatment to his hair. His dark green hair still in a messy 'bed head' fashion on his head. Eli Let out a loud yawn as he pulled out a cigarette and left his room. His black shoes were covered in scuff marks.
Eli placed the unlit cigarette between his lips and shoved his hands into his pockets as he walked. Stopping to talk to some of the maids and butlers along the way. Eli often got in trouble around here. His laziness being the largest factor. That and he seemed to care more for people, especially commoners, than actual missions. In fact that was the very reason Eli didn't know many of the people in his group. Though he had been a part of the group for some time. Eli hated nobility, even though he was a part of it. Eli dissociated with it entirely. Though around those who know the more 'noble houses' Eli's last name tended to get him noticed. Mason, a well known noble family famous for the extravagant taste and fine tailoring skills. Though Eli was more of a black sheep. In fact the only reason he had returned from living as a commoner was because of his sister's passing. He decided that he would come back and fill her shoes in the Golden Dawn, which she was a member of when she passed. His father was also a member of the Golden Dawn before he retired to become a Taylor. And Eli.... Eli had left his home in search of a more simple life.Yet here he was...
Eli had to shield his eyes as he opened the door and walked out to the courtyard. "Hell..." The male's deep groggy voice muttered as he looked around at the Golden Dawn members that had arrived to welcome the new person. Eli didn't walk up and greet any of them, he simply leaned up against a pillar and closed his eyes, beginning to drift back off to sleep. Eli wasn't even wearing his Golden Dawn Cloak, which was pretty usual of him.

"The endless hurt of others pains me."
Sylvester was the first one to show up so it seemed, but he wasn't alone there for long. The first one to join him was Zaven and he gave him a friendly nod. He was a little jealous of the noble clothing that Zaven had dressed himself in, but in the end, he knew that the clothing he wore didn't matter. No, he was pretty confident with his new sword and within his magical robes of the Golden Dawn Squad. He wondered how well this new person would be and it wouldn't be much longer or that was the case. But before they came in, Sylvester noted another presence in the courtyard. He looked over his shoulder only to see Eli standing there smoking a cigarette and trying to wake up. He gave him a wave with two of his fingers, as to at least acknowledge the man in the courtyard. He probably was summoned to, but judging to the character he wasn't really in the mood or came out of bed five seconds ago.
There came in Vulkan with their new Squadmate. Sylvester didn't really count on Vulkan being with the man already, but he shrugged as he offered Vulkan a smile. He shrugged as he looked to the stranger in question and started to smile even wider. "I think you just ran into the one we are supposed to meet here." A soft chuckle would come as he said the words and moved nodded towards their latest addition and saluted him with the Magic Knight salute. "My name is Sylvester Vista, one of the Golden Dawn Magic knights you will serve with." He paused for a moment before trying to read the magic of the man. It was strangely familiar and although there was a great deal of difference between him and his own magic, he couldn't help but notice a slight aura that held some similarities to his own. Nevertheless, he didn't comment on it. He just wondered what his new squadmate would say.
His red eyes flashed for a moment as his traumatized mind went back to the place that he hated most. The fire started before his eyes. The bed that did nothing but make a good seat that he was in, the heat that crumbled everything around him. At last, the screams came in, of his mother, his father, his siblings and every worker that slept on their farm that night. He shook off the thought quickly and kept smiling at the new guy before looking around the group. Two of what had become his best friends were with him, he felt at home and he was happy. Yet there were the Wardens to think off. Was he truly ready to let that go when the time would come along? He wasn't certain, and when he thought of it his heart sunk in his shoe's from unhappiness. He bit his lip for a moment as he looked over his shoulder again, looking at the smoker behind him, he wondered if he had been here before him and if he was an older member of the Golden Dawn. Hopefully, he'd approach sooner than later. He looked back at Ezzelin as he spoke one more sentence. "Please do tell us, what is your name?"
Lesson number one of his first day at the Golden Dawn base: things apparently happened fast. He was knocked onto his butt, yanked to his feet and introduced to a member all seemingly within a matter of a second, then he was being lead to somewhere else to meet a new recruit. He had to admit, it would be nice to meet someone else that was just as new as he was. But then it occurred to him that he was the recruit, and he had the sudden urge to kick himself. That would look sort of weird however... Okay he was definitely still in a daze from seeing the base up-close and personal. Maybe that’s why he wasn’t processing things as fast as they were happening.
Lost in his thoughts, he stood in a courtyard with four others before he knew it. He looked at each of them in turn, casually wondering which of them were nobles. At first glance he wanted to write off the one smoking as a commoner, just from the state of his dress, but then he realized the clothes looked to be of top quality. So maybe not. The rest of them could go either way really, and it set his skin to tingling. Golden Dawn was really such a place where you couldn’t tell someone’s birth for sure just by looking at them. He tried to get a read on their magic but all he could really tell was that they were stronger than him, which was to be expected as his seniors. The blond one did give off a kindred vibe, which somewhat eased his unease.
As he made a note to look into that, he introduced himself. Sylvester Vista. The name did fit him, Ezz thought. He mouthed the name almost imperceptibly and then looked around at the others, before realizing he was probably supposed to introduce himself now “Oh uhm…” He wasn’t very good at social interaction, born from a life of trying to avoid the attentions of people so that he wouldn’t have to face their ridicule, or worse, their prying eyes “My name is Ezzelin. Ezzelin Raniero. Golden Dawn... which you all could probably guess. Given that I am the new recruit you’re meeting... and I’m rambling now.” Ezz cleared his throat and adjusted the bag on his shoulder.
“I have an affinity for Blood Magic and I specialize in healing and fortifying the body. I can also create golems of varying strength with it.” Of course he didn’t mention that Blood was only his second affinity. People often had... bad reactions when they found out he could command dead bodies. The first is usually disgust, then disdain and then fear. He had learned a long time ago that it was best not to bring it up in conversation “Do you want to know anything else about me? Hobbies, interests, mother’s maiden name, father’s occupation... I’m starting to ramble again. Someone else please talk so I can stop…”
Vulkan was completely oblivious to the situation until Sylvester explained it to him, and his face sank in an almost comical manner. Of course he would be the one to literally run into the new guy, and knock him on his rear. He needed to pay more attention to details like that, and he sighed a bit as he turned to the new recruit, who was named Ezzelin apparently. Thankfully he wasn't the only one here, Zaven, and someone he wasn't to familiar with appeared, but he knew that there were other mages around him, and his friends strength. Was this guy one of them? Vulkan didn't know them, so he figured he'd ask later. Turning to Ezzelin as he began to talk about himself, he seemed so nervous, and Vulkan had to chuckle a bit as he looked over the kid, and then quirked a brow when he explained his magic affinity. Smirking a bit widely he patted Sylvester on the shoulder, and sorta pushed him forward towards Ezzelin.
"Blood Magic huh? That's actually kinda cool, you see my pal Sylvester here is a blood mage as well. In fact he has a pretty much impenetrable defense, at least at my current strength it takes way to long for me to get through it." he thought for a moment, and then looked over at Zaven. "Zaven here uses Shadow Magic, his magic hit's pretty hard too, I've not seen an opponent survive more than two hits from one of his attacks." he looked over at Eli, and stroked an imaginary beard as he thought. "I don't have a clue what kind of magic that guy has, but he's in our squad so he's probably pretty strong anyways. And then there is me, I melt things with my Lava Magic." he said simply to the boy in front of him. "So you're gonna be in good hands here, don't be so nervous. I mean the worst thing that has happened is that Sylvester got impaled once, but we were fighting an Evil Santa, but we beat him, and the goat demon in his basement. So that shouldn't happen again."
Vulkan just explained all this like it was perfectly natural, trying to make the kid feel a bit more at ease around them as he seemed super nervous for some reason. Vulkan knew that feeling when you were around strangers that you didn't know, and if you could trust them or not. In fact that was what had happened in the Kavern. He had no clue if he could trust Zaven, or Sylvester, but throughout their adventure they kept each other safe, and now Vulkan wouldn't have it any other way. They were the Golden Trio after all. The three who were aiming to be the strongest in the Golden Dawn. They all wanted to protect this place for various reasons, and Vulkan knew that they would succeed in all their endeavors. Besides now Sylvester had someone with the same magic as him, so he could probably get even stronger, and Vulkan relished that idea.
Strong friends meant stronger opponents, and stronger opponents meant that they all got stronger faster, and soon he would be the Vice Captain, and then his last stop would be the Captain seat. Though he knew that Zaven also wanted that so he had to step up his training game so he could keep on par with his friends. They were both technically stronger than him, if he was being honest, but they each had unique strengths that complimented each other, and that was why they worked so well together. And with the addition of Eli, and Ezzelin they now had two more comrades, and together the five of them would bring glory to the Golden Dawn. Well in his head they would anyway.
The first new face that showed up did not even bother introducing himself, he leaned on a pillar and decided to light up a cigarette in light of what was going on, and it pissed Zaven off a little bit, but he just paid it no mind, even as the time drew on, all he had to do was show up for a meeting with the new member and see if the captain showed up to give some sort of official welcome. So as Sylvester seemed to perk up as the sound of shuffling began to travel in the courtyard it seemed as if whoever was approaching was doing so in a hurried manner.
Vulkan's voice filled his ears a moment later as he listened to Sylvester identify himself as well before being elaborated on by Vulkan some more as he was soon brought up Zaven smiled and walked up to the new squad member and outstretched his right hand in an attempt to shake the hand of one Ezzelin Raniero, the five foot seven inches tall male had remarkably striking blue eyes and seemed friendly enough even as Zaven was introduced.
"What our comrade here says is true, I am a shadow magic user, though I do not know about the one or two attacks taking out my opponents, I am more of a get the job done kind of guy. A pleasure to meet you, I am sure you will fit in just fine here with us." He said with a grin, and if Ezzelin shook his hand, then he would be firm and then finish it before stepping back near Sylvester. "Well, onto another matter then I guess... I should ask who you are?" He said as he turned in an about-face to face the unidentified man before looking at the man still smoking while leaning against the pillar. "So I assume you are fairly new here as well otherwise I don't see why you are here exactly.
Eli watch as the members of the golden dawn shifted their attention towards him. Usually Eli would have at least waved or something, but he was exceptionally tired at the moment. Plus, wanted to try to get a read on these newer members. He had heard that the newer members of the Golden Dawn were rather exceptional, which made sense. Why else would they have been welcomed into the Golden Dawn?
Eli's crimson eyes looked over the Blonde male. He seemed to be more formal from first glance. He was standing in the middle of the court yard waiting the new comer. He seemed to be younger, in his late teens. And there was something about this boy that Eli could just read. He didn't quite seemed like a commoner, but maybe had some type of experience in it? It was interesting. Eli was intrigued, someone who seemed to be familiar with wealth but also the lack of. But more noticeable than that to Eli was Eli could tell this boy had seen some shit. As most of them had since the war. There this part of him that Eli could sense, some deeper pain. Eli took note of this, maybe he could help with that in some way. Maybe...
Eli's eyes then shifted to the man next to him. A head full of hair pulled back into a pony tail. It was clear this male was noble of birth. The finer clothes he wore along with how he carried himself. Though, there seemed to be something different about him. Though he couldn't quite tell what. The interesting thing about this particular male was that he seemed to stand with some sort of purpose. There was something that seemed to be driving this male. He was probably only a few year younger than Eli when Eli first joined the Golden Dawn.
Eli listened to the Silver haired male speak. He seemed to be a bit, simple, or just he didn't pay attention to the minor details. But Eli couldn't blame him for that. Usually he was too lazy to pay attention himself. But this was a special occasion. He was trying to learn his new members, and since the former vice captain abandoned the Golden Dawn and the Clover Kingdom Eli was trying to be more on his toes as well as get to know people better. Maybe he could prevent such a thing. Either way this silver haired boy didn't seemed to come from a noble family. But... That silver hair... It reminded him of something... But Eli couldn't really remember what. He was always too lazy to pay attention when learning and meeting noble families, so most things like this hung in his distant memories just out of reach. The most noticeable thing Eli noticed about this boy was he seemed to have a genuine smile. A good heart, that was hard to find these days.
Eli watched as the new boy entered, golden hair was Definitely a commoner, though he had to admit the coat he wore was very impressive. Eli could just tell that he was a commoner. and this Made Eli smile. It was nice to see that there was a nice variety. But it would be nicer to see how they got along. Though Eli was quickly distracted by the magic this boy held. Not the type, but the general feel of it. This boy something else unique, there was a potential power to him that many noble's would kill to have. "Interesting..." Eli thought as he listened to the group talking, introducing each other and taking notes of each of their names.
As Sylvester spoke first he did so very formally. Maybe he was someone who was aiming to be captain, but then again. Most mages would love to be captain of the most well known Magic Knights. It seemed Sylvester, Vulkan, and Zaven were pretty close.
The new boy seemed to be pretty nervous as he introduced himself, which only made Eli smile a bit. It was part of the charm he loved about commoners. Vulkan being the first to speak up and took it upon himself to introduce the rest of them. He seemed just as excited as the new recruit, which was nice. It was revealing not to be stuck around a bunch of hard asses. Though the boy's introduction of Eli made him chuckle.
Zaven was the next to introduce himself, but quickly turned matters to Eli, asking who he was an assuming he was newer. It was a fair statement, since Eli hand't been around too much and these three had seemed to be the most active in the group as far as locally goes. Eli pushed himself off the pillar with his shoulder. Keeping his hands tucked in his pockets and lightly moving the still unlit cigarette around in his mouth. Eli only took a few steps closer. He stood at a wooping 6'5". His crimson eyes looked around slowly between them then let out a small yawn.
"Hey..." The male said simply. His voice was deep and smooth, almost jazz like. "Name is Eli, Been a part of the Golden Dawn since before the war. So not too new no, Got the same order you did. To welcome the new kid." He said giving a welcoming nod to Ezzelin. Eli wasn't sure if they had heard about him or not. He hadn't done all too much since his time with the Golden Dawn, he liked to keep a low profile. Though during his time in the war he did get the title "The Golden Defender." That kind of spread of a mage who used magic of pure Gold to protect other and help people get away from combat situations. The title even spread to common regions. But Eli would never bring that title up himself or even refer to himself in such a way.
"I'm not that impressive, just coming to say hey and welcome to the team. If any of you need anything feel free to let me know." The male said looking to all four of the boys. Eli was 32 years old so quite a bit older than each of them. Though, because of his laziness he was probably the weakest of the bunch. "I'm back from the things I was out of town doing for a while now. So you all should see me around more often and I should be more available to help out with missions and such I suppose." The male said as his last word was almost stiffened as he began to yawn again and began to stretch out trying to wake himself up more. These men were all interesting in their own way. And he wanted to try to be a better comrade, and maybe put as much effort to helping them and working with them, as he did helping those in need.

"The endless hurt of others pains me."
Sylvester listened silently and without any expression for a short while whilst Ezzelin was rambling and wasn't certain whether he should stop him or not. The only thing, that he figured out to be appropriate, was to smile friendly as the man continued on. He was surprised to learn that this man too had blood magic. He wondered in what way he'd use that magic and hoped that it would be different from how he used it. After all, he was one of those people that worked best in a group that but he noticed that he too was a healer. Plus fortifying bodies came close to what he was doing with his defensive utility. Not much of a difference, but Sylvester decided not to ask more about it. The guy before him quickly changed the subject, however. Hobbies and other personal stuff quickly came along, but he didn't feel the need to comment and luckily Vulkan was quick to jump in.
The Volcanic wonder already spilled the beans on his magic but was friendly enough to at least elaborate on how good his skills were. He nodded his head in respect to Vulkan as his friendly smile turned into an expression of general amusement. He was glad that he was more or less introduced by someone else other than him, making it easier for all of them. Perhaps Vulkan was the most social of the three of them, although he had severe trust issues a while back. Of course, it had to be mentioned that he had been impaled but it was alright. Instinctively he reached for the area that had been sliced through by the icicle that had tormented him, but due to the magic of the dungeon, he had no scar to remind him. It was Zaven's turn now to introduce himself and he stayed humble. Something that Sylvester himself hadn't done, but his pride made sure that he didn't want to even be humble with what was being said about him.
He saw Zaven turn to the other person in the big and magnificent courtyard and joined in quickly. He too wondered who the man was and he could understand the fact that his friend was commenting on it. The tall male soon started to speak and introduced himself now as well. It appeared that he had been a member for at least four years now, but it was the first time that Sylvester had even seen him around. Not even around the place, he had not noticed him so he wondered what this man had been up to. His questions were answered however and now that everyone was introduced and accounted for it was time to do what they had come for. "Alright, everyone. Welcome to Ezzelin once more. It is now time to test your skills. Could you show us some moves? Perhaps we can even share some information on how to use our blood magic." He said as he nodded to Ezzelin with a wide smile on his face. He could only hope that something good came out of it. Something useful at least. The mana in his eyes lighted up and the bright red almost made him look like a crazy person together with his scarred face.
Blood Magic. That explained why Sylvester’s magic felt the way it did. Like attracts like or something like that. Blood was the element of his that Ezzelin was least skilled in, despite his ability to heal. He could probably learn from his senior, or at least get some tips and tricks when it comes to wielding the magic, which would be extremely helpful. Ezzelin nearly missed the mention of impalement, which was strange given the mention of friggin “Evil Santa” and a goat demon. Sylvester seemed to be fine after the ordeal, so he must have been healed fine. Then there was the Shadow and Lava Magic users, Zaven and Vulkan. There seemed to be an established dynamic between the three, so they must be good friends. Ezz thought he may get along well with Sylvester and Zaven, but he was wary of Vulkan’s high energy. Time would tell if it became too much, though.
The tall one with the cigarette was a stranger to the others as well, so at least he wouldn’t be the only person they were just getting to know. Then the focus of conversation was once more on him. He thought about just asking them to return to Eli, maybe ask him a few more questions about where he was, but that wouldn’t be very social of him “Oh um...magic, yes. The thing that makes me a Magic Knight…or a normal human being rather.” He kicked himself mentally, pulling out his grimoire slowly. He flipped through a couple pages for a moment. The words on the page would look like some dark and ancient language to anyone other than Ezzelin, the ink they were etched in seemingly blood “I don’t actually have many spells with effects you can see without a person being wounded beforehand. Being a healer and all. I can, however…” His grimoire glowed a soft red, slowly gaining in intensity as he channeled the mana for the spell. He extended his hand slowly, his fingers splaying outwards and stretching taught.
“Do this. Blutsoldat.” A gash opened up across Ezzelin’s palm, the blood from the wound flooding forth and dropping heavily onto the ground. The wound slowly stitched itself closed, while the blood took a vaguely humanoid shape. It finished forming in a hunched position before standing to it’s full height of five feet. Its “face” was a blank surface of swirling blood, it’s arms ending in tapered blades. Ezzelin lowered his hand and examined his craftsmanship. He reached out and patted the golem’s head, satisfied with his work “I’ve only ever cast this spell twice since I discovered it. Three times, now.” He closed his grimoire, but still held it in his hand in case they wanted another demonstration of different spell “The soldat is a pretty basic golem, pretty balanced. It’s supposed to help me when it comes to attacking and defending, since I’m less of a combatant and more support. As you can see, it has blades for slashy slashy…” Ezzelin paused, a horrified look coming across his face “Did I just say slashy slashy? Cutting. I meant cutting…” Spells Used:
Name of Spell: Blutsoldat Elemental Type: Blood Rank & Spell Type: Junior | Golem [Balanced] Range & Speed: 2x Golem's Sensory | 7.5 meters per second Mana Cost: 10 | 5 Applicable Perks: N/A Stats Effected: N/A Description: Ezzelin's grimoire glows deep red while channeling the magic of this spell. He extends his hand as a gash opens up on his palm, the blood flowing out and taking the shape of a roughly humanoid form before him. The figure is five feet tall, with no discernible features other than it's body shape as its "face" is a completely smooth surface of shifting red much like its body. Rather than hands, its forearms taper into blades of blood, enabling it to slash a target if necessary. For every 10 Control Ezzelin has he is capable of increasing the number of golems created by this spell by one.
Vulkan watched curiously as their new recruit showed off a bit of what he could do. Apparently he could create golems with his magic, and so he watched curiously as Ezzelin explained his abilities, and told them about what his automaton could do. Vulkan was a bit impressed at his magic, and perhaps a bit envious as well because he couldn't create cool monsters out of his lava. All he could do was tear everything around him apart...It was a bit of a problem if he was being completely honest, and he had to be incredibly careful on missions with allies, but thankfully they all knew to just stay out of his range. So on top of being able to heal this kid could summon this things to fight for him. All in all that was an incredibly useful set of skills, and Vulkan was happy he had joined them.
"Well I won't lie..I'm a bit jealous that you can do that...I wish I could create stuff like that with my lava...But hey since you showed off one of your spells for us, why don't we show you some of our spells?" Vulkan said with a smile to the kid, and turned back to his friends, and the guy with the deathstick in his mouth. Though he didn't really wait to see if they had agreed or not, and he took a step back away from Ezzelin just to make sure. He had thought about using his chasm, but the Captain had forbidden him from using it within the base unless they were under attack. So he would have to show off one of his other spells for the time being. Tilting his head to the side his grimoire floated beside him, and cast it's golden light upon his form illuminating him as he channeled his magic.
"Lava Creation Magic: Volcanic Armor!" he stated the spells name, and an extreme heat surrounded him for a brief moment as glowing armor appeared on him. Not glowing because of magic, but because it was lava that was formed into armor, and adorning his frame. Two bracers adorned each arm, a simple breastplate covered his chest, and two sabatons covered his legs. Smiling at Ezzelin he crossed his arms with a quick smile curious as to what kind of reaction he'd get from the young mage. Perhaps he would think it was pretty cool, or he could think that it was boring, and not care.
"While I have this spell going, I'm almost as durable as one of Sylvesters spells, but not quite. His are still way stronger than mine, but it gets the job done. The immense heat protects the "exposed" parts that the rest of the armor doesn't cover. So it gives the illusion of vulnerability, but there really isn't one. You just have to break it apart the old fashioned way, and if it isn't completely blown apart in one go, it will just repair itself for me. This is my favorite defensive spell." Vulkan said admiring his own armor for a brief moment.
Zaven listened to his brothers in arms watching as he showed off his impressive blood magic to everyone as Zaven found himself looking between Ezzlin and Sylvester putting them as the blood mages of the squad was something great, they could possibly cover the group with defense and heals when in a dungeon. Afterwards he watched as Vulkan showed off what he could do, the lava armor...that thing was damn formidable and had saved Zaven’s ass on more than one occasion so it was impressive to show the new kid for sure, so he had to think of something on his end that could showcase his talents well. Zaven waited till Vulcan was done before stepping forward once more as he smiled.
“Very well. I can probably show you a few things I have up my sleeve.” He said as he unlatched his Grimoire and willed it to float up to the right of his head as pages flipped back and forth as he thought about what spell to use. Looking around he saw a damaged statue near the old gates that lead to the training grounds. With a grin he pointing his finger at it like a finger gun at the statue before taking a deep breath and taking aim. “Shadow Creation Magic, Eldritch Blast!” He said as a beam of shadow mana shot from the tip of his finger and like clockwork he watched the beam smash into the statue before shattering it into tiny pieces before they were blown back over the walls.
“I am a close quarters and ranged combat special specialist, this spell is probably my most useful one besides the area attacks that can make you feel like your skin is being torn apart. When the trio is together I usually focus on making sure the enemy cannot close in unless we want them to or I just take care of anything that I can see and touch that has withstood the onslaught of the lava that Vulkan can use. I can also make you slower and weaker just with a few words, so be careful of what you say to me.” He teased before stepping back in line, he looked up afterwards as he knew he had to get some other stuff done...he would wait a bit longer to see exactly what happened here though.
The attention seemed to fade away from Eli just as quickly as it came his way. Not that he was complaining. Eli wasn't one for being the center of attention, Though as a kid that's exactly what he often was. Young Eli Mason, Son of the Well know Taylor Mason, Former member of the Golden Dawn now world renown tailor. Their clothing was often times sought out by the Highest and most fashionable of the nobles. Eli was at the center of all that attention. He was supposed to follow in his father's footsteps. Become a Golden Dawn member as soon as possible, rise through the ranks, and possibly even take over the business one day. Or His sister would do that. But either way Eli was supposed to become a renowned mage. Instead he left his family and all the hope everyone had for him and became a bum. Traveling around the common region, helping out at orphanages and farms. Staying out of the spot light to have a simple life. Yet, as fate would have it here he was, back in the noble region, the capitol no less, and with the Golden Dawn. What was his purpose? Why was he here?
Eli's mind raced as he stood there, slouching slightly while bouncing the unlit cigarette between his lips. His hands tucked into his pockets. Apparently they wanted to test the new comer, Eli had almost forgot about this tradition, where everyone shows off their skills and test to see if the new comer is up to par. Eli didn't much care for it. If they were accepted into the Golden Dawn then of course they were exceptional. But then again, he was in the Golden Dawn and he felt useless. He remembered how unexcited everyone was when he first arrived and showed off the few spells he knew. He hadn't really trained since he was a kid. It was clear to Eli the only real reason he got into the Golden Dawn was because of his family connections and the fact that he had the rare Gold magic.
Eli's eyes watched as the blood poured forth form Ezzelin's hand and used his magic to from a type of Golem. Impressive, Golems were pretty sought after spell types, that including his healing would make him a great asset. Eli's eyes flickered to the others who were there. They seemed to be pretty excited by the boys talents. He gave a soft nod of acceptance himself towards the boy. Were his spells really that useful? He had yet to do any dungeons unlike most of his other comrades, and it seemed like he knew why...
The voice rang out in Eli's head, but on his face he kept a soft smile as his attention turned to Vulkan, Who made armor made out of lava, not only would that be good for defense, but could also hurt those enemies who got too close. Plus he probably had many other types of useful magic with lava. No wonder he was part of the 'Golden Trio'.
The voice haunted as it rang out again. Yet still Eli kept a calm demeanor. He was sensible, he was able to keep a calm head, even when he was feeling down. His attention turned to the next member who decided to show off some magic. Zaven, shooting a blast of shadow magic into a statue blowing it to pieces. A casualty of showing off within the Golden Dawn base. It wasn't too uncommon to have property destroyed, no one seemed to mind too much as long as it didn't happen too often. Those statues seemed easy enough to replace with the amount of money the Golden Dawn had ready at it's disposal. Either way the attack was a pretty good one, and as he said he probably had plenty more tricks up his sleeve that were quite suited for such a place. The offensive user, and a seemingly strong one.
The only two who hadn't shown off a spell yet were Sylvester and himself. Eli had been glancing at Sylvester from time to him, he could sense the hunger in his bright red eyes. This man was probably already thinking of ways the new recruit could come in handy, probably coming up with ideas and tactics. At least that was the impression Eli got. But Eli wasn't one to show off, pulling his hands out of his pockets he clapped them lightly. "Very impressive, You all seem very strong." His deep voice said chipperly as he smiled towards Sylvester. "Did you want to show the recruit some of your magic? You two might be able to learn from each other." He said with a friendly smile. Eli was pretty good at adverting attention away from himself and making others feel better. So this was simply a natural response.
The way Eli saw it, he could give up now, and be a failure. Fail continuing the dream of his belated sister. Or he could use this as inspiration to get stronger, to continue living out his sister's dream to be a powerful magic knight and help as many people as possible. Giving up, wasn't an option... Was it?...
