It was a bright sunny morning as Dran walked slowly through the town of Kiten after passing through the heavily guarded gates. The five year war definitely had people on edge, it was easy to be seen as Dran's feet slammed against the ground letting the his footsteps echo through the town as he let out a whistle "Wow this towns changed a lot!" Dran said calmly as his eyes gazed from house to house and then to the cracked pavement "They really should clean this place up it use to look so much prettier" Dran openly complained as he heart the sounds of hammer slamming against nails. Curious Dran took a peek and sure enough he saw construction workers beating their bodies up covered in sweat as they went at it. Hammering like real men trying to improve the capacity of citizens within the city. Dran gave a soft smile as Andomidus toned in 'Wow aren't they just perfect to slay!' he said with a cold laugh. Dran shook his head "God is that all you care about, at least check them out first" Dran complained to himself turning down a alley way running his hands across the bricks keeping the buildings up 'Well yeah Andy only thinks about death silly' Adrian teased softly 'But why are we here again?' Adrian added as Dran let out a sigh.
"We are here, well mostly because this is a gorgeous city, and well we don't have much left to do... I haven't seen Annelise in so long, and I figured I might get the chance here" Dran said softly "But it seems like my hopes were up for nothing" Dran complained as he made his way back into the bustling streets of Kiten 'It's okay Dran I'm sure she's looking for you too!' Adrian said trying to perk up Dran with his words, before Dran could speak back Andromidus spoke 'Fat chance, she only cares about using us' Andromidus said with a cold chuckle as Dran gave a sigh "So what? At least she had goals, your only goal is killing weaklings Andromidus" Dran vocalized as Andromidus growled within his head 'FINE BE THAT WAY!' Andromidus screamed inside of Dran's head as he clenched his head from pain.
"Little bastard don't throw a temper tantrum because I called you out fucking sadist" Dran complained as he walked towards a large hall made of mason stones, it was read to be known as a tavern, well it was a bit less of a cut throat like tavern, instead some how the structure itself stood with various flowers and plants climbing up the building. Although Dran was set back by the appearance he didn't mind since he was a plant mage himself. It was only natural that the place had drawn his attention, he continued his venture slowly walking inside noticing a variety of people inside, although they seemed a bit odd. There weren't many people in there to Dran surprise there was a large variety of not just alcohol, but tea, coffee, and even soft drinks. Dran gave a smile as he walked forward enjoying the view and variety. He didn't want to get drunk like normal as he sat on the bar stool in front of the counter spinning around in the seat as he saw the large variety of drinks before stopping himself. Dran noticed a red mane, and blue mane in the crowd, but he didn't speak to them as he saw the drinks the bar keep walked to him giving him a odd looked "WHAT'LL IT BE!" The bar keep asked with a loud and bright tone, his cheeks blushed like he had a few drinks too many. Dran gave a soft smile "Lets start with a cup of coffee to start with" Dran said softly not wanting to accuse the man for yelling at him as the man nodded and began to brew coffee with a bright smile on his face.
Silas woke up early in the morning not as early as his usually time but still before most of his family. He walked to the garden as he need to clear his mind before starting his training he finished faster than he normally did. As he finished his training his father walked into the garden looking for him. His father asked if he would help with somethings around the house. Silas mainly just had to move things that the servants couldn't lift but he did have to help clean some of the things. After two hours of hard work Silas was covered in sweat but he had finished everything around the house. Silas then took a shower as he planned on going out today as he hadn't left the estate for two days.
After he finished Silas picked what outfit he was going to wear today. Most of Silas's outfits were the same and some he hadn't even wore before. Silas picked out a few shirt he had just had made a few days ago it was bright orange and had a picture of a lion on the front and on the back it had his family crest. His pants were light blue as blue went with everything or so he was told. Silas then put on his magic knight mantle on it didn't cover the lion or his family crest. Well the convent Silas thought to him self. Silas would then put on his coat, gloves and boots before he left the house. He made his way to the crimson lions base to make sure he didn't have any missions to do.
Silas would get to the base and look at the job posting and saw he didn't have any missions to do. Silas then made his way to the spatial magic and asked him to take him to kiten. The mage agreed as long as he paid a small fee. Silas didn't mind paying the fee as it was more of a personal favor then a actual mission. Silas stepped in the portal and in a matter of seconds he was there Silas still wasn't use to it. Silas looked around it was a bright sunny day out and didn't look as if it was going to start snowing anytime soon. He also saw a few men working on fixing and building new houses. Silas would then spot a tavern and would walk inside. It was very busy as they were selling coffee, tea and ale. Silas took a seat next to a main with green hair Silas thought he knew him form some where but was unsure.
The inn keeper would yell asking Silas what he wanted."I'll take one green tea please."The inn keeper would then give Silas his drink and Silas would pay him the gold. As Silas was drinking his tea he was trying to remember where he had meet the green haired man before.
Dran gave a soft smile as the shop seemed to brew a fine cup of coffee as the steam left the lonely cup as Drans hand softly gripped around the hot cup letting his lips push against the rim of the cup slowly letting the warm liquid flow into his lips as he let it flow softly down his throat warming his body as he slowly placed the cup back down. The door to the tavern opened, but this time it wasn't Dran who entered, but he could hear the feet step closer, and closer as Dran pulled his scythe out leaning it against the counter so the cold hilt no longer pressed against his cloak as Dran let out a soft yawn. The coffee did nothing to energize the young man as the lion sat next to him.
Dran gave a glance at the boy, he couldn't be any older than sixteen, however Dran could have sworn he saw the purple eyes of him before, but where? Dran thought about it and pondered not speaking as the boy was served his excellent looking tea. Dran was a bit envious that the boy got such a nice cup as he heard chairs slide out from behind the two and it sounded like a small squad of people came as one spoke "Hey green head, better move or else you'll get caught up in the trashing we give the Vermillion trash" one man said as Drans blank expression turned into a devilish smile and he spun in the chair "Say that again?" Dran said softly the cup of coffee still in his hand as he glared at the man.
"This Vermillion trash needs to be taught a less-" was all the man could say as Dran splashed his face with his scolding hot coffee as another man came towards him grabbing his shirt as Dran smashed his coffee cup against the mans head roughly as chunks of glass embedded themselves in the mans skull sending him crying to the floor as three men were left "So... You think you'll touch the boy then?" Dran said softly as he raised his brow letting his right hand slam the first mans face into the dirt floor crushing his burned face against the tiles upon the floor. "You must not respect him, or perhaps you're envious of his position in life?" Dran questioned softly as he glanced towards the boy.
"It's not my place Lord Vermillion, however if you'd like I can take out the trash before you finish your tea" Dran said softly "I owe you family a rather large debt, and I'd rather my life in general" Dran said standing up on the mans head before lifting his foot and kicking the man towards his group "Of course I'm sure your Vermillion blood is boiling, so if you'd like I can watch as you take care of the ill minded bastards" Dran offered softly. He hadn't realized he was within the presence of his old masters descendant, and Dran wasn't willing to let Lynals good will go unrewarded, and he'd wait for the Vermillions decision on the matter.
It was a rather sunny morning, but the winter weather hadn't quite passed over the Clover Kingdom just yet. Emily, however, was fine with the cold simply because the sun was still shining. More specifically, it just meant that she didn't have to dress in so many layers that it made her look and feel like a flaming snowball. She walked down the street in a more lax manner, able to finally enjoy the more lively side of the shop keepers in the kingdom now that they didn't have to worry about freezing to death while trying to sell their goods. It sent out a good vibe and she could really pick up on it. Emily was wearing a simple orange T-shirt, covered by her white jacket. She was wearing a black skirt and a pair of sandals. The mage was looking at a trinket shop to see what looked interesting. Ever since Forrest gave her a Crimson Lion trinket on that day during the Royal Knights exam she'd kinda gotten obsessed with them.
After looking at trinkets the girl got sidetracked by a shiny ring that effectively grabbed her attention. Emily felt like she could stare at it for hours, but she didn't realistically want to be there for that long...obviously. The Vermillion moved along through the shops in an orderly pattern. After deciding that she was done looking for the time being, Emily wanted to head over to the Lions Base to look for something to do. That's when something really unusual happened. The Vermillion could've sworn that she just spotted her brother Silas walking into what looked like a bar or a tavern from the outside.
"What's he doing going in there? Not like he should be drinking." the girl said in a tone of slight disapproval. At that point, the only logical course of action that she could come up with was to follow him to make sure he wasn't doing anything stupid. Silas was probably...(emphasis on probably) her favorite brother, and she would prefer if he didn't go out and get himself hospitalized or killed. The young magic knight walked over to the large hall that Silas had entered.
Emily knew she had made a mistake as soon as she took a peek inside the establishment. It was kinda crowded, and the place was filled with people who looked a little too rough to be walking the streets of the capital. Emily gulped, "Girl, Vermillion, Kid." she said to herself. "That's the triad of words that tells me that going in there could not possibly end well for me in any way shape or form." she told herself. The girl then tilted her head to the side, "Well if that's the case then why is Silas in there?" she asked herself.
All of a sudden Emily's eyes went wide as she witnessed a man at the bar splash searing hot coffee on another man's face. The girl covered her mouth with her hand in disbelief. Then, a second man had the coffee cup smashed on his head. Emily was even more surprised to see Silas of all people sitting right next to this man. Despite all of the obvious signs of why it would be a bad idea for Emily to go in there, she did it anyways. The girl quickly entered the hall and crossed the room to get to her brother as soon as she possibly could. "Silas what are you doing here? How do you know this guy?" Emily asked, pointing over at the man. As soon as she did, she noticed that it was the same man from the dungeon that she went in with Oscar. "And what are YOU doing here?" Emily asked the multi-personality man.
The inn keeper gave Silas his tea and told him to enjoy it. Silas looked at the tea it looked like the best tea he had ever seen. As he took a drink from it he knew this was the best tea he had ever had. It had the perfect balance of sweeties and bitterness. Tea truly is good for the soul he would say to himself. Silas began to look around the room taking in the scene the man next to him was enjoying his coffee Silas never cared for coffee but to each their own. Silas would then notice a few commoners were looking at him in distaste Silas chose to ignore them for the moment. The inn was fairly crowed but it seemed like the inn keeper was able to keep the drinks coming out in time.
Silas could already see a few people were drunk but that wasn't his problem. He turned back to the inn keeper telling him the this was the best tea he had ever had. Silas would ask the man how he made it but the inn keeper said it was a family secret so Silas didn't press the man to tell him more. The commoners walked over to Dran and told him to move before he got beat up like Silas was going to. Silas was surprised when the Dran poured his coffee in the first mans face and the broke the cup over another ones head. Dran would then ask them what they said and then he would turn to Silas asking if Silas wanted to deal with them himself or let Dran take care of it. He would then say that Silas' Vermilion blood must be boiling. Silas' blood was boiling but he choose to ignore them. Then as Silas was taking another drink he nearly spit it out as his Emily walked into the tavern over to him. She would then ask what Silas was doing here."Well i was walking around town and wanted something to drink so i stopped here. Now its my turn to ask what you are doing here."
Silas' question was put on hold as the other three men would then gain there bravery back as they noticed Emily was also a Vermilion. Silas would step in front of her as they spoke. "It looks like this girl is a Vermilion was well lets deal with her first." Silas could handle them threatening him but no one was going to hurt his sister. Silas then finished drinking his tea and stepped forward.
He looked at the first man you could see the anger in his eyes."You three are not going to lay a finger on my sister."Before the man could speak Silas would break the cup over the first ones head. Silas fallowed it up by two punches the man dropped to the floor knocked out. Silas would then step over him as the the two stepped back Silas was going to show them the power of a lion. The second man would try to punch Silas but he dodged to the left and counter with two quick hits to the face breaking the mans noise. Now it was just the third man left. He tired to run but Silas grasping the back of his shirt before pulling the man down. Silas would then hit the man a few times before that one also lost conciseness. Silas would then look at the man with a broken noise."If you ever threaten my sister again i will kill you."Silas would then walk back to Emily and Dran. Emily are you okay and thank you for the help sir."
Dran took not of the mans nobility, of which he himself was proud to be honored with the presence. The Vermillion nobles weren't like the others to Dran, they were more of the rebel like nobles if you could call them that. It seemed as though this particular man wasn't the type to lay down on his back showing his belly to his enemies like a sheep would do a wolf. It was like Annelise said all those years ago 'Are you a sheep or a wolf' the words themselves haunted Dran, however this was only the beginning, he knew if the Vermillion showed off his fangs Dran may grow to care for him, more so than he already did, but a familiar face came through the doors as the man readied himself to defend his honor.
The face was familiar due to his short meeting within the Caverns of a dungeon. He realized quickly the flaming mane of the lioness who entered the establishment, and instantly knew that his actions would go punished by the young Vermillion ' Ohhhh Dran's gonna be in the dog house' Adrian said with a laugh inside the mind as Dran gave a soft smile 'Wrong you'll get us out of this wont you Adrian' Dran thought back to his inner personality, before Adrian could argue he felt himself come into control of the body clenching his hands "Coward" Adrian muttered under his breath to himself as bother Dran and Andromidus chuckled within his head expecting him to try charming the young Vermillion.
As Adrian came into control the Vermillion girl would speak to him, but he heard the tone of the men and gave a soft look towards Emily taking her hand into his as he softly gaze into her eyes "My dearest Lion" Adrian said softly with a bright smile as Silas began to defend her honor. "These men meant to harm your family, the Vermillions mean the world to me I hope you can understand that it was never my attention to draw the young man into this fight" Adrian said softly falling to his knees gazing upwards towards her "The fault none the less lays with me in the situation, I never intended you to see a sight like this you deserved so much better than the actions leading up to this" Adrian said softly "All I can ask if your forgiveness since the actions have already transpired" Adrian said calmly as a cold thud came the counter top as Adrian's eyes gazed towards the you Vermillion male as his hand slowly slid off hers and he stood up promptly.
Silas came back to them as Adrian gave a glance to his actions " I was expecting flames, but you seem pretty handy with the claws that were given" Adrian said with a soft tone as his hands moved and rubbed against both the Vermillions heads "I've missed the company of Vermillions, I hope you'll give me a bit of your time, I'd like to see how the young descendants of my master act and perhaps I'll tell you both a fine story" Adrian spoke softly a hint of sadness lingered on his voice as he glanced towards the Vermillion boy "You don't need to thank me, I'm deeply indebted to the Vermillions, and I'd also like to inform you. My name is Dran. Dran Vesper" Adrian explained giving them Drans name instead of his own to avoid confusing the two. Although he knew the girl name Emily knew that he went by a different name within the dungeon he'd find a way to tell her alone what the circumstances were for him concealing the details. Adrian gave a smile "One moment please" he said softly moving from the two as he walked towards the men knocked out and began dragging them outside to cool off before walking back in.
Walking towards the counter Adrian dropped twenty gold coins onto the table, and then another ten "I'll need a bottle of your rum please" he said softly as he received his bottle and the barkeep said nothing of the event most likely in fear of the Vermillions status. Without a moment of hesitation Adrian sat upon his original seat throwing ten more gold on the table for the barkeep "Two more cups of tea as well please" Adrian spoke softly as he glanced at the two with a soft glance "I wont be upset if you'd rather leave, but I enjoyed your company even if for such a short time" Adrian said softly as he opened his bottle. "There aren't a lot of emotions a bit of alcohol can't cure you see" Adrian said softly this time a lot more sad as he quickly swigged a large amount of alcohol into his mouth letting the liquid burn his throat down to his stomach as he placed the bottle on the counter top with a soft glance as he mentioned one more thing " Young man, if you wouldn't mind, might I get your name if you do decide to depart?" Adrian said softly wanting to know at least that much from the brave boy.
The Vermillion had been so caring enough as to go against every natural instinct of danger that she had and go into a tavern to find her brother, whom she was concerned for, and he had the audacity to ask what SHE was doing there? Emily widened her eyes, dumbfounded. "What am I doing here Silas? You seriously can't figure that out for yourself?" she asked, gesturing to him just chilling in the tavern drinking some tea with all the commotion going on in the building. Not to mention being completely still after Adrian dumped boiling water on a man and smashed his cup on another man's head.
Just as Emily was prepared to give Silas another piece of her mind, she froze up as she noticed three men approaching from behind her and Silas. The girl knew that going into the bar in the first place would end up being a mistake, but she didn't exactly expect to be right about it so quickly. Emily made some very timid pointing gestures towards the men as Silas seemed to be finishing the last of his tea. "Uh...Silas." Emily spoke, very timidly, as the men approached the two lion cubs. Emily took a few steps back as the men began to point out that she was also a Vermillion and that they would take care of her first. However, this is when Silas got up and stood in front of her. He told the men that he wouldn't let them lay a finger on his sister.
Emily was immediately shocked as Silas smashed his cup against the first guy's head just as the other man had done. As Emily tried to stop him, she felt something grab her hand. She immediately snapped her head in the direction of concern, fearing that it was another group of man who had come from a different side. However, the Vermillon was surprised to see that it was that Adrian guy from the dungeon. The man just began talking and so Emily just listened to him. She kept moving her head back and forth between him and Silas, obviously still interested in the fact that her brother was literally beating the crap out of those thugs.
"Why's he being so sincere all of a sudden? This guy was literally finding a way to murder snow creatures in cold blood back in the cavern." the lioness thought to herself. A mix of confusion and fear was running through her veins as she was listening to what the man had to say, but she was also scared of what she'd seen him do. Then again, considering none of the men here had huge gashes or fountains of blood pouring from their bodies, it was safe to say that he never went that far with any of them. All of a sudden, the man dropped to his knees and Emily blinked a few times. "H-H-Hey what are you doing?" she started to say, but was cut off as the man continued talking to her.
Despite the situation and the actions he took, he seemed pretty genuine in his words. He said that the men were trying to harm the Vermillion family, and that he had no intention of dragging Silas into the battle as well. He was even on his knees sincerely asking for her forgiveness. Emily steadied her breathing and looked away from the man, closing her eyes. "Okay I believe you. I can forgive you for this....but only this one time." she said, turning back to face the man when telling him this was the only time she would forgive actions like this. Regardless of the situation, she still didn't like seeing her brother and this man taking part in such barbaric actions.
The man said his name was Dran...which was weird because back at the cavern he said his name was Adrian. However, the Vermillion just shrugged it off as maybe it was a nickname. Besides, Silas was returning from his altercation so her attention went immediately back to him. There were some interesting things mentioned by the man though. Something about the descendants of his master and how he's indebted to the Vermillion family.
The second Dran got up to praise Silas and take the men outside is when Emily let her brother have it. "You idiot!" she scolded, socking Silas in the side of the head. "You can't just go around trying to seriously injure people. What if someone actually got really hurt?" she asked, a lot more calmly this time. "I know they were trying to hurt us, but there probably was another way to deal with it..." she said, her voice trailing off.
Dran re-entered the bar and sat down, ordering some rum and two more cups of tea. He stated that he would enjoy the Vermillion's company a little more. Emily took a deep breath and figured that Silas didn't have any plans on leaving. She looked at her brother, "Come on Silas I guess we'd better not leave this guy alone. He might end up actually hurting someone." she stated. It wasn't to take shots at the man in any way, it was just the fact that she observed from the dungeon that still kinda scared her. However, after hearing the things that he said regarding their family name, she became very interested in Dran.
Emily was in fact okay but she was less than pleased with Silas' actions. As Emily started to lecture him about why he shouldn't have done what he did. Silas would grab a towel that was on the counter and started to wipe the blood of his hands none of it was his of course. He would look back at Emily a she was still speaking to him she would then hit him in the side of the head its wasn't more than a little less than half her strength. Silas was a little surprised by the hit but he knew it wasn't meant to actually hurt him she was just upset at his actions."I'm sorry Emily i probably shouldn't have acted that way but i refuse to someone i care about not again."Silas knew it wasn't his fault that Blaire died but he still blamed himself he always thought that maybe if he had tried harder to find a cure for her sickness or never left her side in the first place that she would still be here.
Silas would look over at Dran as he started to speak to Silas saying the he expected Silas to use his magic instead of his claws. Dran also mentioned that Silas didn't need to thank his as he owed a debt to Silas' Family. Then he gave Silas his name and Silas finally remember that Dran was the one who threw up on misty's family at the winter gala. Silas would began to wounder what kind of debt Dran owed his family. Silas noticed Dran walked over to the bar keep and gave the man some gold as he ordered two green teas and a bottle of rum. Dran would also ask Silas his name and if they would care to join him. Before Silas could speak Emily said they should join him Silas didn't object he planned on joining the man after all. As Emily and Silas sat down he would give the bar keep some old to replace the ones he and Dran had broke in the fight. My name is Silas Vermilion and its a good thing i didn't use my magic or someone most likely would have died. I don't use fire like most of our family i have lava magic so its not the best for holding back with. If you don't mind me asking you said the you are in debt to are family how did that come to be?As he was waiting for to see what Dran would say he would look at the tea unsure if the man had got them for Emily and Silas.
Adrian gritted his teeth. Although he knew that the female lion Emily was only doing what she thought would protect the young boy, whose name was apparently Silas he still couldn't understand her anger. He hadn't done anything rash up to that point, what did she expect? Did she want him to lay in a fetal position whilst they beat him to a pulp? Adrian shook his head as Andromidus spoke in his head 'She need seasoning in the art of war...' even Andromidus held compassion for the Vermillion children so Adrian had to speak. "Emily my dearest lion. Let me explain to you that protecting the ones you love is the most noble of deeds" Adrian explained looking her in the eye "What would you have done if the men had found you on the streets? Alone and almost defenseless" Adrian explained raising his right hand caressing under her chin softly "These men sought to defile your chastity you brother thinks the world of you I hope you realize that" Adrian explained letting his hand fall to his side after he reasoned with her.
Adrian nodded his head at the lions response. Silas was definitely a noble Vermillion one of which chosed to keep the men instead of sending them to an early grave, he could only find respect in that, much like his late teacher. It was then that it dawned on him that the Vermillion spoke of his late teacher "I'll explain... Just give me a moment" Adrian said with a soft but sad tone downing his shot before pulling his silver flask out taking a large sip of his Sosshi rum to ease his nerves. He'd told not a soul his origins, however as they were Vermillions he though it was right that they heard of his teacher.
"I'll start from the beginning then" Adrian said with a cold chilling voice as if the soul in his body had left "As a child I was sold off from my father as a black smith to a local noble.. Feeling betrayed beyond belief due to that suffering I though my life was meaningless, I hated everyone and everything on this earth" Adrian said softly "You see I was enslaved crafting weaponry for a noble force day in and day out my hands were beaten and scarred from the use of flames and steel" Adrian spoke softly once more downing some more rum "Even then I made a friend, a boy whom I thought would be able to stay with me forever... However that wasn't the case... When we made our escape the noble wardens found out, and as it stands I was the only one to make it out.. It was a breaking point for me" Adrian spoke softly a single tear escaped his eye, but he mustered the courage to continue.
"I was only twelve, I had no source of gold, no source of talent aside from being able to craft items to serve the nobles... It was then that I found a soul different from all the nobles I had known, and his name was Lynal Vermillion" Adrian spoke softly "It was great for three years I had learned that humans could be different, I knew that there was a chance to continue with my life you see... However fate is a fickle mistress" Adrian said coldly sipping more rum as a red tint over came his cheeks, the voices within his head began to sob in loving memory of Lynal, but he knew that the pain must be overcome eventually, and he mustered the courage to continue.
"You see I worked as a black smith under him, and we had been friends the entire time, I dreamed of coming upon fire as my element of magic, however that was a dream that'd never happen. I got a copper grimoire with plants as my element, I believed that it was a trial that I could overcome, and I wanted to Lynal of the achievement in my life, however upon coming back to the work shop I was met with a bloody sight. Lynal... All of the workers they were killed, murdered in cold blood, going as far as the pin his body upon my wall for some sort of fucking show" Adrian said slamming his hand against the wooden counter as blood lust filled the room "I'll never forget the last gift Lynal left, A small snake, and even my own sir name of Vesper, he had given it to me against the will of all the other workers in an attempt to make me is future head crafter... That will was gone" Adrian spoke as softly as he could as another tear streamed down his face as he struggled to not cry in front of the two. "My actions from there was filled with unlawful wrath..." Adrian spoke with a colder tone than ever.
"When I left the workshop... I found the lone survivor, and fate would have it... The last was my father claiming that the whole three year ordeal was a ploy set upon me, a fake Vermillion who disobeyed them by allowing me to take the magic exams for my grimoire... Fake Vermillion or not the man was the only person who wept with me and showed me care... I couldn't let my fathers misdeeds go unpunished... So I took the closest blade... Lodging it into his body draining the final ounce of life from his body, and tearing my heart asunder as I was once again alone with nobody to cry to... It was... The darkest moment of my pathetic life don't you think?" Adrian said fighting back the tears more and more "...Was there ever a Vermillion known as Lynal, or was I truly taken as a fool thinking that someone wouldn't lie to me?" Adrian spoke softly as his forced face finally broke and the tears began to stream from every personality questioning the truth once more as they had done so many years in the past. Adrian's soft sods filled the tavern, not as a man of strength, not a man who put fear into hearts, but as a man who just admitted to the lost of every soul he claimed to love.
Emily nodded in agreement at the fact that Silas decided not to use his magic. Even she knew that lava was not something to be played with. The men wouldn't have even been around to feel sorry for themselves for trying to attack the Vermillions in the first place. As planned, the lion cubs sat down with Dran at the bar and each had a cup of tea. Despite the fact that those men just tried to beat up a couple of kids, the atmosphere began to calm down once again. Now Emily was completely sure that after seeing Dran and Silas do what they did, no one would try something like that for the remainder of their time there so that was a plus.
It was then that Dran began to go into what seemed like a lecture about Silas' actions. He was basically justifying them in saying that defending the ones he loved was the most noble thing he could've done or something like that. Emily nodded along with the man. She knew that Silas was trying to protect her, that much was obvious. It's just that she didn't like to see people get hurt seriously like that over nothing. "I know..." Emily responded to him like a kid who had been listening to the same lecture for many years over. He then went on to a more scary topic regarding her being alone and defenseless. She knew as well as he did that without Silas there things wouldn't have turned out too well for her. The girl dropped her head a little bit, the thought of the scenario was almost enough to make her cry. If the word chastity meant what she thought it meant, then she didn't want to experience anything like what Dran described, ever. Emily continued to nod on, agreeing with the things that Dran was saying. "Yeah...I know." she said. The girl leaned over and wrapped her arms around her brother. "Thank you Silas." she simply said. She even felt bad for hitting her brother in the head after saving her from death...or worse.
After Emily had released her brother, Dran seemed to be ready to move on into his story...
Right from the start the story was something that was obviously weighing heavy on the man's heart. With how much she learned from just the first sentence no wonder why Dran always seemed so messed up in the head. Emily immediately had to choke back a tear. She knew all too well the feeling of one's birth parents discarding them like trash. At least in the Vermillion's case, she was given to a church with a very nice woman taking care of her, despite the bratty kids that picked on her all the time and basically fostered the development of all the self-esteem issues she had up til this day. "He didn't even get that much. Sold away to slavery as a child. Being overworked by a noble no less." Emily thought to herself. What's up with that? She always knew that the nobles liked to look down on commoners...obviously. It was just the way things worked. However, the girl didn't know how she felt knowing that nobles actually kept commoners as slaves. That right there seemed a little overboard. It was at that moment that Emily glanced at Silas, remembering his attitude towards the commoners. "I even criticized you for being around them...was I even standing on any sort of basis?" she thought to herself once again.
Dran went on to explain that even in the darkness of the situation, he had a friend. However, that happiness was short lived as the two of them had planned an escape from the nobles. They were found out and Dran's friend didn't seem to be so lucky. Emily was finally able to utter a few words given the gravity of the story. "Dran...that's so horrible." she said, completely empathetic. Normally, there'd be no way that Emily Vermillion could be so sympathetic towards a commoner like Dran. However, after saving her along with her brother, and talking to her, Emily began to see that he wasn't so bad. Even now, hearing his story the girl was able to find a small way to relate to him...to relate to someone. The empathy she had for the man's situation was unrivaled at that moment.
This is when he came to the name of Lynal Vermillion. Lost in the dark with absolutely nothing and nowhere to go, Dran came across Lynal. Somewhere in the back of Emily's mind, a switch flipped. "Lynal? Where have I heard that name before?" she asked herself as Dran continued speaking. The girl was able to smile just a little bit at a turning point in the man's story. He had finally found someone to take care of him. A Vermillion who gave a good name to the nobles of the kingdom. At least that's what it sounded like.
Dran moved on to the next tragedy of the story. A complete murder of the entire shop, and Lynal's body was even pinned to the wall as a cruel taunt. Emily blinked a couple of times to take in what she'd just heard. These kinds of things always made her emotional. Now along with Dran, she too had a tear moving down her face. However, unlike Dran who would probably be able to tough it out, Emily was not as mentally strong. The tears just kept coming as the girl listened to him speak. She was able to keep herself silent, but she was having to continually wipe her face due to the tears. For a second time in his life, he'd lost everything. Lynal had even left Dran a gift in hopes that he would become the next head craftsmen, but Dran wasn't headed towards that path. Who could blame him? Twice in his life, he'd lost everything he loved, tricked into a false sense of happiness just before he lost it all on several occasions.
As if everything Dran had said up until hadn't been enough, the last survivor of the incident was his father. As a last ditch attempt to most likely hurt him, Dran's father told him that Lynal was a fake Vermillion and the entire thing was a plan for something. She didn't quite understand the explanation fully. It was more or less another major deception for the boy to deal with. At the end of it all, Dran killed his father. The girl didn't think that doing that was entirely okay...to her at least. At the same time however, Dran probably had every right to do it for all that the man put him through in life. The entire thing was his fault anyway.
"Dran..." Emily started to say. The girl was still in tears, but she felt something tugging at the back of her mind. Emily was able to remember something that might have been very important for Dran to hear, or at least that's what she thought. Emily immediately hugged Dran, "Dran just hear me out on this one. I know we haven't really been on great terms or anything, but let's just say it's not as big of a world out there as you might think. Especially when it comes to nobility...and let's just say I know enough to know that Lynal was a real Vermillion. Even though he isn't alive anymore...I do know that he was real." she explained, still clinging to the man.
Emily let him go and smiled a bit. "Yeah it's kind of strange. I don't remember much about it right now at least, but I do know that he had some kids. They were actually the people that ended up training me into who I am today...even though it's not much." Emily said. It was true. She didn't like the reality of it, but the fact still stood that she couldn't really do much right now in terms of strength. However, she wasn't saying this to pity herself anymore than she already did, but to help Dran in a way that she thought she could.
The girl cupped Dran's face in her hands and lifted his chin up. "Come on Dran I know it was terrible. Based on everything you just named that you went through...I'm surprised you're still around here living life everyday. You lost everything and don't really have a real reason for being here, so I'd like to think that a part of Lynal's will still lives within you somewhere. It's okay to cry...trust me I know. I was also thrown out of my home at a young age, and although I wasn't even close to being put into your situation, I'd like to think that in some ways we're the same. We weren't dealt the same hand of course, but maybe just a single card in my hand matched up with yours, and knowing that makes me feel better in a way. I want to help you feel better too." the girl explained, helping to wipe Dran's tears away.
The last time she'd been in a situation like this Forrest was the one wiping her tears away. Just like him, Emily wanted to be kind above all things. How could she pass up the opportunity to help someone who actually shared similarities with her for once in her life?
After they sat down Dran began to look at Emily and sided with Silas on the matter and told her that she means the world to Silas. Silas would shake his head in agreement as Emily looked to Silas and apologized to him as she hugged him. Silas would hug her back and then put a hand on her shoulder as he spoke."My dear sister what Dran says is true i would gladly give my life to save those i loved. I do not fear death i fear losing someone i care about when i could have saved them." After speaking Silas would take his hand of her shoulder and lesion to what Dran was about to say.
Dran began to talk about how he was sold off to nobles by his father and that the nobles kept him as a slave. Silas knew that nobles treated the commoners like trash but this was the first time he heard about them keeping people as slaves. As Silas thought about what the man had just told him Silas could feel the anger in his blood but it wasn't just anger it was also shame. Soon the anger began to flow into his magic. those close to him could see that his purple eyes began to turn darker. The tea next to Silas would begin to start boiling due to the heat he was unconsciously letting out of his body. The other people close to the three would start to look over at them to see what was going on but quickly turned around once they saw the heat was coming from the young Vermilion boy no one wanted to risk his wrath after seeing what he did to the three men that threatened his sister. Silas would notice that he was letting his anger flow out of his body so he began to take deep breaths to get his anger under control. His eyes and body heat would turn back to normal before Dran began to speak again.
Dran would then start to tell them about how he meet a friend that gave him hope but then he would go on to tell the two Vermilion's that his friend died when they tried to escape. Silas felt a deep saddens for the man all he wanted was a better life with his friend but the nobles robbed him of that and his friend of their life. Things started to look up for the young man when he met Lynal Vermillion. Silas knew who the man was talking about as Silas had met the man when he was very young so Silas knew what was to come next. Dran would explained that the day he got his grimoire he went back to the shop to find that everyone in the shop was killed and that Lynal was pinned up on the wall. Silas knew that Lynal died but his parents never told him how. Silas knew fate was a cruel mistress Lynal never deserve his fate nor did Dran. Silas would being to think that the worst part was over but he was sadly wrong as Dran went to go on and explain that one survivor came out and it was none other than his father who had sold him off as a kid. For the second time his father would ruin Dran's life by telling the man Lynal wasn't a real noble and that it was all a ploy to set Dran up the man would then kill his father.
Silas was at loss for words not because of the fact Dran killed his father but by how cruel life was to the man. Emily would then comfort Dran and tell a little about her life and that Lynal was a real Vermilion. Silas knew she wasn't his blood sister but he never knew about her past. Silas could only truly relate to Dran in the fact that he had lost someone he had loved. Silas knew he should say something but how could he even speak to them when he was unable to relate to them. It's true Lynal was a Vermilion i met him when i was younger. He didn't deserve to die like that he was truly an honorable man. I would be lieing if i said i knew the pain you both have felt. I've only truly felt the pain of losing someone i loved i cant even begin to image the hell you have been though. After Silas finished speaking a tear would roll down his face not just because he was thinking of Blaire but also because of what Dran had told him and Emily.
Adrian had been within a shell of despair for his suffering in the past years. He wouldn't go on to details of the events after. He didn't exactly have words to say how much he had changed from that moment, from murdering the circus to being a monster to any living thing that laid in his wake. It was simple enough to say he had fallen off the deep end. He also didn't exactly want to speak of his meeting with the devil since up until this point she was the only one who showed she had any care for the man in any case. It was almost a sickening thought. To think that his only friend was a woman with a murderous goal, but was Adrian all that different? Had he had more information about the noble, he'd have already went after the man that enslaved him, but he was scared to bring up the notion to the two. They might criticize his reaction, possibly attempt to stop him, but that was something that he'd do regardless of other peoples feelings. Adrian's face even when Emily tried to comfort him showed a sign of Lugubrious, or a feeling of sadness that was easily show to the other occupants of the Tavern.
Emily pulled him close in an embrace when the mans mentality was weakened. They seemed as though they cared, but Adrian couldn't put his trust into anyone, but he was too weak to keep pushing people away. He physically and mentally didn't have the strength to push another Vermillon away from himself as his body quivered in sadness, his soft sobs met Emily's sleeve as she spoke a long sentence. Adrian softly pushed himself away looking at her with red eyes as he seemed to doubt her for a moment his hands rightly clenched her fabric "W...What" Adrian said as his teeth clenched tightly unsure if he could believe someone about that situation. He felt as if they would lie to him simply to make him stop showing emotions. That's why he clung to Annelise so tightly, as if her brutal honesty was the only truth that he'd ever get in his pitiful life. Adrian didn't have much to say as his head rested against her shoulder his soft tears leaking into the fabric.
He'd listen intensely through his sobbing as she spoke more. It didn't seem like she was lying, even giving a rough explanation as to how she knew of the man. He was a bit better in his emotions after her speech his tears softly dried up leaving only a sight of red eyes as his teeth gritted. The final thing his father said had been a lie. A truth that he'd been searching for, for roughly five years finally came into the light, and Adrian couldn't help but hate his father a bit more for making him question the identity of the only man whom cared for him. It was then that Dran dawned a thought within the three's mind 'What if... Lynal did it to protect us...' Dran thought as Dran's throat seemed to swell as the man sacrificed his own happiness, all for the sake of saving a suffering child, but he questioned how Lynal had even been given the opportunity, and then it dawned on him that Lynal had a study with a black leather book he recorded his life in. Hidden in the underground shop in which nobody could access due to the lack of knowledge the place existed.
It was then that Emily spoke once more. She spoke of having nothing as Adrian's head cocked to the side. He realized the girl must have gone through a darkness at one point, however it didn't seem to be at the caliber of what Adrian had gone through as the tears were wiped from his eyes. He couldn't help but give a soft smile "Emily... Thank you, and I'm sure whoever you're destined to be with in the future will be lucky to have ever met you" He said softly taking her hand into his and kissing the top of it softly to show his chivalry.
His attention would then turn towards SIlas. The man whom didn't speak much through the whole conversation, nor when Emily had spoke. A man with less words than he'd like to speak it seemed, however Silas seemed to be the more truthful one. It was true that many Vermillions lived their lives without problems or issues that many commoners had. It didn't effect Adrian as much as when he spoke that Lynal was indeed a Vermillion. Now he knew his father had lied, two Vermillions spoke and both claimed Lynal was indeed a true Vermillion. His body sank in his seat as he thought what to say to the young Lion "I'm glad" Adrian spoke softly giving a smile to match his soft tone. "I'm just glad that he hadn't lied to me, I've been told so many lies, and it's good to know that even with his decisions, Lynal didn't lie" Adrian said softly looking towards Silas "And I'm glad that you didn't have to go through the same hardships that I suffered, nobody deserves to face that level of cruelty" Adrian said softly as he took a sip from his flask once more putting it into his pocket as he glanced at the tabletop "Although... Now I guess I have a new mission that needs to be fulfilled" Adrian admitted softly as though he had came upon a new reason to be alive, leaving the two to guess the mission at hand.
Emily was shocked, but at the same time she wasn't really. She was surprised that Dran was showing this much emotion. She never knew that he was capable of something like that after seeing him in the dungeon. However, at the same time, the girl was surprised that he was able to block out that much emotion on a daily basis, given everything he'd gone through in his life. It took an entirely different kind of strength to do something like that. Having known that, as well as knowing that the two of them shared something in common, made Emily feel a bit more safe around him. Even if she was scared back then, most of those insecurities were gone for the moment.
Dran made a comment to her about whoever she would be destined to be with in the future and how lucky they would be to have met her. He then gave her a light kiss on the top of her hand. Emily blushed and couldn't help but smile a bit. "Aw that's really sweet of you to say Dran. I know you'll find happiness again in your life too. Just give it some time." she responded. Who she was meant to be with in the future. That was quite the thought. Emily hadn't thought about it much at all, but it was just kind of a truth that was always there.
Silas on the other hand, did not seem to be taking the information too well. The entire time Dran was explaining his story, the room seemed to just slowly be rising to a boiling point of some sort. Emily could only assume it was Silas' mana. She'd only seen lava magic one time before, and that was when her brother Magnus was in control of it. However, even if it was a different wielder who wasn't quite as strong as Magnus was, lava was still nothing to play around with. She had no doubt that Silas had exceptional control over his own magic, and that he could use it effectively when needed.
She wanted to say something to calm him down at the time, but she was too focused on Dran's story to divert her attention. Luckily, he was able to calm himself down sometime throughout the course of the story because otherwise they definitely would've been trying to put out a fire in the bar. A feat that wouldn't have worked out so well for the two heat mages, and Dran with his plant magic.
Dran exchanged his own words with Silas and Emily began to drink her tea before it got too cold, though Silas' boil over did slightly help with the heat...that wasn't the point though. She was surprised to hear that Silas was able to back up her information on Lynal as well. It made her happy for Dran, finally getting at least a sliver of closure it his entire ordeal. She then turned to Silas, "Don't sell yourself short either Silas. We've all been through some problems and that's just a fact." she said.
She then was interested in what Dran said about his next mission. It was good that the man was immediately moving on to something else in his life. Though she always figured that he was just that kind of person. Despite the situation he seemed to be in, he just kept moving along through the good and bad. Certainly, it got him to this point, but did he enjoy living like that. Not ever being able to stop and enjoy the moment. Or maybe he simply just took his little moments of joy when they existed. "A new mission?" the Vermillion asked, still curious to hear what was on the man's mind, if he didn't have a problem with telling them, that was.
After Silas finished speaking he would take a drink of his tea that was hotter than it should be due to his mana heating it. As he drinking it he would pay close attention the conversation as Emily and Dran had started to talk to each other. At first it seemed like Dran didn't believe Emily when she said that Lynal was a real Vermilion. Silas didn't blame him after what the man had just told the two of them its no surprise that Dran had a little trouble trusting others. Dran did seem to believe it when he heard the young lion tell him the same thing. After Silas told him that Dran would begin to speak about how he was glad that it wasn't a lie after all the lies he had been told in his life. Silas figured that the man was talking more to himself than the two Vermilion's.
Silas began to think about how strong Dran was mentally sure he probably didn't tell them everything back the fact that after what nobles did to him and the fact that he didn't hate all nobles showed just how strong the man was. He would snap back to reality as Dran spoke to men about how he was glad the young lion didn't have to experience the same cruel fate that he did. Emily would then also speak to Silas telling him not to sell him self short as they had all felt some kind of pain. Silas knew that they all felt a deep pain but he knew that his was far less worse than the pain they had felt. Silas may have lost the closest person to him but those two had lost almost everything so no matter how the young Vermilion looked at it his pain was fair less than the pain the two of them had felt for most of there life. After thinking about that he couldn't help but think back to Dran telling Emily who ever she was destined to be with will be lucky to have found her. Dran was correct Silas' sister was a very caring person even if she had the view that she was better than commoners but that was always something that could change.
Silas would hope that fate would be kind to both of them and let them meet someone that would truly make them happy after all it was the least fate could do after making there lives a living hell for so long. Silas took a moment before he would speak."Emily my dear sister i'm not selling my self short i know i have felt a deep pain was well.No matter how i look at it my pain is no were as bad as Dran and your pain. I truly hope the two of you can find someone that makes you happy."Silas would take another drink of his tea as he thought about his own happiness. Silas would then begin to wounder if he would ever find someone special to him.
Mayhap fate a dealt him a cruel blow and he was destined to never find someone as special as Blaire again. Silas would let a few tears fall down his face before he wiped them away as Dran started to talk. Dran would say something about how he had a new mission. This interested Silas but Emily was the first one to ask him about the mission."Yes Dran please do tell us about this mission i must say i am quite interested in it."Silas would smile after he spoke if the mission was what Silas was thinking it is Emily probably wouldn't like what Dran was about to say. As Silas was waiting for Dran to speak he would hear the tavern door open. He saw that a few of the men that Dran and he had fought had come back. Silas would hope they wouldn't try and go round two with the Vermilion but the stupidity of someone people was endless. Silas knew if they tired to start something again they would have to be carried out of the tavern as he wasn't going to hold back on using his magic the next time.
Adrian was in a moment of regret. The actions Dran and Andromidus had gone and done since the loss of Lynal was unforgivable, but at this point Adrian needed to be stronger if not for just him the lions in front of him that seemed not to mind his misdeed of ending his father. He felt it a bit odd as they seemed to turn a blind eye to that issue, however he knew that not everyone was as prone to justice as they let on. It was then that Emily made her comment about finding someone special again. It really made Adrian think hard about the situation, who did he have really? He had Dran and Andromidus that was for sure, but there weren't many other names that he could think of until one image popped into his head. A small blond female with a soul as dark as a blackened nebula of hate and corruption. He hated to admit it but Annelise was the one person that he could put his faith in since she was the only one to make the body bow to her power. Adrian's lips parted "A-actually" Altair spoke with a stutter not wanting to admit it to them as he clenched his teeth roughly he knew holding in the truth would only cause further issue down the road.
"There is this one person. She's kind of short, really pushy, and an ego as big as the sky. That being said she's someone I could always rely on until I sought out self improvement" Adrian spoke softly gazing about the room as he paused his speech "A change for the sake of keeping what little fragments of me that I have left" Adrian explained softly as he began to think about the dungeon and the only person who seemed to care about him in that moment. He couldn't help but take respect in her within the few memories he held. Five years had passed where had she gone, and where had she ventures. The thoughts wandered on and on as his mind was boggled from the idea of her no longer being alive in the world he lived. Adrian wouldn't accept her death never the less since the devil never truly dies.
It was then that Emily spoke of Silas. He couldn't help but smile softly. The man was definitely able to control his movement well as he began to ponder the way the boy took care of the trash in the tavern. "I'd have to agree with young Emily on this one, you're definitely not weak, however you do have room for improvement" Adrian said softly leaving the final part to try and make the boy wonder exactly where he stood on the food chain. He was neither the top nor bottom, however that didn't mean he was exactly useless. That's something that Silas would have to figure out himself, since Adrian had been down the same road as the boy once or twice fighting others in a tavern as if it'd never back lash on him.
It was then that Silas spoke at first speaking of Adrian's future happiness. It'd be better that he not try for the girl before since at this point she might be able to take down a army by herself as if they were flies drawn to a fire. "The mission huh? Well I guess it wont matter if I tell you two or not, you're free to try and stop me, however your requests will not stop my march forward" Adrian explained softly as he softly cracked his neck. "The Noble who enslaved me, and made my life a living hell. That will be my final target as a murderer, after that my ideals for murder shall be washed from my actions" Adrian said softly as he took a sip from his flask letting the liquor to swish and burn down his throat "I'll be slaying all the nobles under him, and he'll be the main target, however my idea is to save all the slave he sells to keep his profits up" Adrian explained softly as he looked towards the two wanting to know of her opinions of his actions. Although it wouldn't change his actions he refused that turn his back on the path now.
