Throughout Last Hearth, various fires have been lit, a practice going back hundreds of years. The idea is that the fires ward off the evil spirits of winter but also have a meaning of bringing those of this region together. During this festival, people will gather around fires enjoying the company of each other, often times talking about their wishes for the new year and their adventures of the past.

“Vani! Hi! I just uh, wanted to give this to you b-before you left one your Royal Knight m-mission!”
“Oscar? Oh, you didn’t have to give this to me now, you always could have waited til I came back-”
“B-But I couldn’t wait til then! I, uh, wanted to give it to you now!”
“Well, alright. Hm, I wonder what it is? Oh? It’s beautiful! This necklace… These gems? Black? Obsidian? You made it yourself didn’t you? I love it, here, help me put it on.”
Oscar O’Malley set his hands in his pockets, watching his breathe exit in clouds of white from his mouth. He was standing a little ways off from the giant bonfire set up. The crowd and festivities that surrounded the place seemed all in a good and festive mood, though Oscar himself seemed rather aloof despite the festive mood.
Vanilla had already left for her mission. A Royal Knight, that was what his cousin was. One of the most elite mages in the entire kingdom, and instead of warming by the fire, she was off fighting for the sake of them all. The festival of fire was something that he and his cousin had actually been to before, he could still remember the two of them making and eating smores together. His parents had offered to go with him that night, but he declined, saying that it was their tradition to have the house to themself while he and Vanilla were away.
But this year, his cousin wasn’t there.
It hadn’t really come to his mind to invite anyone with him from his squad. He still knew so few people in it and no one really cared to pay attention to the commoner. He sighed, letting himself stand up straight to his slightly above six foot stature. This was exactly the kind of thing he didn’t want to let himself get all muddled about, he wasn’t just ‘cousin of a noble’ he was Oscar O’Malley and he could do things all on his own. He had gotten into the Golden Dawn all on his own right? And he knew that Vanilla wouldn’t want him all down in the dumps just because she wasn’t there.
And so he would have fun!
Going off on his own, the young brunette went off to find a smores stand where he could find roasting sticks, marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers. Thanking the stand attendee, the youth then went off to find a relatively less crowded bonfire and sat at the small log-bench set near it. Humming a holiday tune to himself, he set up his marshmallow on the roasting stick and held it near the fire to warm it up. Sitting there, he looked around to see that other small children and families doing the very same thing and having fun on their own. It did make him smile, and seeing their laughter… it reminded Oscar the reason why he became a Magic Knight. It was because he wanted to protect smiles like those.
It was weird to think that so long ago… maybe his cousin had thought the same of him.
Of course, as he was distracted by watching others, he suddenly realized that his marshmallow had caught fire. “Uh! Whoa!” Panicking a bit, the young man waved his stick wildly in the air before sticking the thing down in the snow. “Phew… Somehow this was a lot easier when I was younger.” He sighed to himself, before laughing out loud. It was a bit funny, maybe just a bit silly. But nonetheless, he realized that yes, he was still having a good time.

“Hope is the magic carpet that transports us from the present moment into the realm of infinite possibilities.”
It was the time of year to have fun while celebrating the holidays with friends, family, and loved ones. Her parents wanted to have alone time together, so she was off by herself to the festival of fire where people from all over the country gather to make smores and curl up by the fire to relax and keep themselves warm. It also seemed that families with kids and people with significant others were putting their marshmallows by the fire and keeping themselves warm. Incidentally, she would look over to where the stand with the necessary equipment was. Sticks along with marshmallows plus the graham crackers and chocolate were lined up in a row and a friendly attendee spoke up. "Hello! You're here for the festival, right? Here you go." Said person gave her the stick along with a marshmallow, she was on her way.
With the warmth of the fire, she was feeling pretty comfortable as she tried to find a seat first. Since there was a chance that some bonfires were crowded, the girl went off to find a less crowded one. She remembered going to the festival with her father last year when he wasn't as busy as they talked with each other about the future. Ah, how she missed the company of her father and mother, but she knew that they needed some time together too. After a while, she found someone sitting near a small set of log benches, a tall young man seemed to be enjoying himself near the bonfire.
She figured that she should help make smores for the other people who came near this way to eat. Amaryllis sat down, just a bit away from the young man with glasses. Sticking her marshmallow on the top of her stick, she began roasting it. It didn't feel right to be silent most of the time, so she tried striking a conversation with him. "Are you enjoying the holidays as well? I sure am. My father is not with me this year, but I will be fine."
So here he was, at Last Hearth to spend some free time during the Yule Festival before being sent off on jobs from The Golden Dawn. As he arrived by broom he made sure to leave it with a man that was tagging and setting the brooms aside for pickup later. As he walked around, the smiling faces of hundreds of people enjoying the time together made him smile, nearly forgetting about the path in life he took to get there for a moment before being ushered in a direction of a stand that gave away marshmallows, chocolate and sticks perfect for roasting. With a nod, he would take the items before him and smile in thanks before nodding and making his way to the fires that was less populated.
Of course, he was noticed, he wore the Golden Dawn Magic Knights Robe with pride and people noticed as he walked by, giving his trademark smile and greeting with a handshake or nod if he was approached. The cold bit at his exposed skin, but it made him feel good as he did not usually have a chance to do this while growing up. Sitting on a flat smooth rock he placed two marshmallows on the stick and placed it in the flames as it began to cook the confections.
The pops of the firewood splitting and falling as it broke down sent embers up from time to time but it was soothing, almost like a spell was placed over the fires. He looked into the fire as the puffy treat began to melt while he placed the stick in between two rocks so that it would remain wedged to cook while he cracked a piece of chocolate in two before sandwiching the melted mallows between the chocolate causing it to begin to melt as well. After it was said and done he began to eat the s'more slowly as he looked out at the people that were around. There were not many, but he wondered if any were gonna be talkative.
The young brunette was already humming a Yule Festival carol to himself while he began roasting another marshmallow, and hopefully, this time wouldn’t suffer the same crispy fate as his last endeavor. Looking up into the night sky, Oscar caught sight of the more recognizable constellations. From the great Hero Knight to the Pegasus of the Starry Skies, Oscar wasn’t the best at picking out pictures in the sky, but there were a few of his favorites he had memorized.
Naturally, the small bonfire he was at had a few others occupying it nearby. Oscar was notably by himself, however, but as the night wore on, he found his solidarity not really that troubling as he initially would have believed. Vanilla wouldn’t want him to feel lonely. His smile remained small but rather natural. A quiet kind of peace and happiness, that’s all he really was looking for.
Maybe she didn’t really want him to feel alone either.
Without realizing it, suddenly a young blonde girl with her hair down in pigtails came and sat nearby. Like him… she seemed to be alone, well, maybe coming to these sorts of festivals by oneself wasn’t so uncommon after all. He gave her a little nod, though he wasn’t sure if she noticed him. She soon went about roasting her own marshmallow and the two simply sat in relative silence, until the other girl decided to speak up.
"Are you enjoying the holidays as well?”
Oscar blinked, adjusting his glasses with his free hand. He wasn’t sure if the girl was talking to him, but then quickly realized there wasn’t really anyone else she could have been talking to. He gave a simple nod, accompanied by a genuine smile. “Well, yeah, it’s alright I suppose, hehe. How about you?” He paused, not really certain where he was going with his words. Soon enough the girl gave her own answer.
“Oh… Um, I’m sorry about that. I,,, really do get what you mean.” Oscar gave a try at sympathetic words, giving a little shrug of his shoulders. He leaned forward, watching the fire, it was almost funny, how such a festival brought together two lonely strangers. “This year, I’m spending the holiday without someone close to me too.” He then looked up, back to the stars above, he breathed out a dreamy kind of sigh. “I like to think that they’re not so far away since when I look up to the sky, they see the same stars as I do.” And maybe, somewhere in the Fringe Region, where Vanilla had sent off to aid the front lines of the war, she actually was looking at those same stars.
The young man then quickly blushed, resting his hand on the back of his neck. “Ah, that’s kind of cheesy I know, heh.” Indeed, it was a rather cliche kind of thing to say, but there was truth to the phrase and as Oscar said it out loud, he seemed to be trying to convince himself as well that it was okay to be spending the holiday without that someone close to him. He waited a bit to see if the girl would say anything back, yet as Oscar thought about his own words, he wondered if they just seemed to sound hollow rather than genuine. It wasn’t unusual for the young Golden Dawn member to overthink things. He shook his head slightly as if trying to shake off those feelings of insecurity.
It was soon then that Oscar noticed another loner had come by the bonfire, and he quickly recognized the cape of the Golden Dawn. Oscar wore his Golden Dawn cape as well, but it was underneath his winter cloak so it was only barely seen unless he moved at the right angle. “Sir Zaven! Hi!” Oscar called out to the young man with a wave and a laugh. Zaven was a member of House Blake, Vanilla’s noble house. To an extent, Zaven was like family to Oscar, but since Oscar was still a commoner and in general, he wasn’t too familiar or too popular among most other House Blake members, he still referred to the man rather formally. It could be said though, that as the two young men were now members of the Golden Dawn, they were slowly getting to know each other better.
Oscar noticed that Zaven was by himself, it seemed like everyone didn’t have somebody on that particular holiday night. “Huh, no other Blakes with you tonight?” Oscar’s big mouth decided to be curious without him really thinking about it, he immediately wondered if he should’ve taken back the statement. There were so many things complicated about nobility, and especially his cousin’s noble house. Vanilla often just told him not to worry about it and she and her father would make sure that no unsavory family members would come by his way. As far as he knew, Zaven wasn’t one of the ‘unsavory’ or ‘difficult types,’ after all they were comrades in the same squad.
“Uh, I m-mean that’s cool too! I usually come to the Embers festival with Vani, but since she’s out on a mission I-I’m kinda here by myself too.” Attempting to save his own stumblings words, the young brunette didn’t even realize that his own marshmallow had been roasting in the fire so long it suddenly decided to take light itself. “Ah, ah!” Oscar pulled his stick from the fire, attempting to blow out the burning thing. He succeeded, only to find that his marshmallow was now a burnt black lump of sugar.
“A-Ah… Totally not good at this.” Admitting his defeat out loud, at least Oscar was able to smile about it, even if it was kind of embarrassing for it to happen in front a stranger and a fellow Golden Dawn member.

Chikao was making his way to the Dying Ember Festival and shivering as his clothes, hair and skin were wet from the snow and he was just walking there. His clothes even had a bit of fost as they were freezing a little and even his hair had grown small patches of ice. Chikao had yet to get a broom and the best way to get somewhere without paying, which Chikao did not have a lot of cash on him at the moment, was to walk. "W-W-What I wouldn't g-g-g-give for a broom right about n-n-n-n-now" He said shuddering his words as he was shivering. Every breath that came out from Chikao's mouth came out as a white puff due to the fridges air and temperature. His teeth were chattering with every second as he made his way. Chikao knew he was close to the area as he could see the light of big bonfire near him.
He remembered the last time he came to the festival was when he was the year before Chikao left his village to try to become a knight and was still training under his teacher. His teacher choose a less busy area and make his own fire, Chikao had no idea why his teacher chose to be away from people but that's just how he was. His teacher would also grab some marshmallows and everything else to make s'mores but so the two didn't get sick on eating sweets his mater would bring stuff like vegetables and a small meat to cook. To Chikao the festive was more like a camping trip for the two, his teacher was a decent cook as he brought few flasks of different alcohol to cook the meat in and sometimes use it to make soup, but a majority of the flasks were his teacher's drinks. His teacher would offer him a drink Chikao would try it, because he would forget that he hated the taste of alcohol especially his teacher's strong stuff. After tasting it Chikao would immediately regret it and spit it out which made his teacher laugh hysterically. Chikao did miss the times with his teacher.
Recently, Chikao had written a letter to his teacher asking if he would be coming to the festive this year. He had gotten a letter from his teacher rather fast and it read 'Dear Chikao, Unfortunately I am unable to join you this year, the village is having a bit more trouble with bandits popping up this time of year and I'm busy training the other villagers to use their magic to protect themselves against the bandits when i'm no longer able to. After all I'm not going to be around forever. I'm sorry to disappoint you, but maybe I could come next year. Until then, try to enjoy yourself and work hard to becoming the knight who can protect everyone.'
Chikao gave a sigh as this was going to be his first time coming to the festival without his teacher which made him sad. But he knew his teacher wouldn't want him to be so he tried to carry a smile as he made it up. Chikao got to the festival and was still shivering as he tried to find a bonfire that wasn't to crowded as he needed to get close and warm up. He looked around and saw one with what seemed to be two people around it. A tall young man and a young blond girl with pig tails, he then also saw someone who looked familiar and recognized the pony tail as Zaven as he worked with him during the exam. He walked over to the male and girl "Excuse m-m-me?" Chikao said to the two trying to get their attention. his clothes partly frozen, he's lucky he didn't get frost bitten from his wet clothes skin and hair, and his hair as now forming small icicles on the ends "May I p-p-please join you?" he said completely cold
Oscar couldn’t really explain why he was so bad at roasting marshmallows this time around, he didn’t really ever remember not being so incapable of doing a supposedly simple task. Whenever he was with Vanilla, he remembered that she was always able to warm the marshmallow just right to create the gooey and chocolatey s’more.
It suddenly came to his mind that Vanilla was the one who often reminded him to watch over his stick, rather than caught up in conversation or looking at stars. Oscar felt her absence once again, the empty feeling of his closest family member and friend not there… He never realized how much he relied on her, even for simple things. When he was little, she wouldn’t even let him hold his own stick over the fire. A mix of a mom and a best friend… he truly hoped that she was somewhere safe while the holiday continued.
He supposed that… maybe it wasn’t so bad to be alone. There was a surprising number of other people who seemed to come to the Embers festival by themselves as well. He smiled to himself, already starting on a third marshmallow to roast for the fire as he sat with the two others, making general conversation.
Suddenly the small group was approached by another young man, Oscar lifted his head to see that it was a very cold young man as well. “Of course! Here, warm yourself up, no one should be cold with all these bonfires around.” Oscar gave the young man a warm smile, quickly inviting him to take a seat. Perhaps it was a bit funny to see the young man practically had icicles on his skin, but Oscar kept his laughter on the inside for the most part.
Working on his third marshmallow, Oscar was quite focused on making sure this one wouldn’t burn up and turn into a lump of burnt and gooey sugar. Soon enough, Oscar was satisfied with his white puff and then took it back, with a graham cracker and chocolate pieces ready. He held two pieces of graham cracker with chocolate layered in between, grabbing the marshmallow at the end and sandwiching it between the pieces to pull it off. And just like that, the young man had his perfect s’more, he had remembered the way to do it from what his cousin had taught him. Without waiting ahead, Oscar took a big bite, having the delicious gooey marshmallow flood with mouth with pieces of chocolate and crunchy graham cracker. As he took his bite, the cracker crumbled in his hand, causing crumbs to fall everywhere, but he didn’t really care as the s’more was delightful! “Haha! No matter how old I get, s’mores will always be delicious.” Laughing aloud, the young man was finally happy to have a s’more, the traditional fair of the Dying Embers Festival.
Sitting back and finishing off his snack, Oscar licked the sticky marshmallow that remained on his fingers. “I’m Oscar by the way, it’s nice to meet you!” Realizing that he hadn’t introduced himself, he waved to both the twin tails girl and the newcomer to the group. “Heh, y’know they say the tradition of the festival is to light fires to keep demons and evil spirits away. Everyone still gathers around the fire to reflect on what’s happened in the past year and make wishes for the new year to come.” The young man spoke his thoughts aloud, not talking to any of the teens present in particular, but simply speaking of the legends that were the Dying Embers Festival. He smiled again, happy to just be in the presence of others who would listen to him and make some conversation. It wasn’t the same as hanging out with his cousin, but… perhaps it was something the young man could get used to anyway and still make some fun out of it.
So here he was again with Oscar. The man that he had seen only briefly before then, he hung around before Zaven really did not know better. Of course, he was relatively harmless, even if Zaven did not see how he made it into the squad, he welcomed the company as he was asked if any of the Blake family would be joining him, a simple shake of his head before a shrug would be a simple answer he would give as he was still eating his first treat so he had to swallow before speaking. Once done he looked at Oscar with the same grin he gave everyone, Chikao soon showed up looking like a man longing for death's cold embrace...not too far from it either...
"Yes you can join us Chikao...though I do not know why you did not dress for the cooler weather, and don't blame it on training either...that's nonsense. To answer you Oscar...sorry on that by the way, no other Blake family will be joining me presently as I have just moved to our headquarters so my half-brothers and the rest of the...clan as it were are nowhere to be found, scattered in the wind for a moment." He said with a pause as he sighed and prepared another marshmallow to begin melting in the fire.
"No...I am just out alone enjoying the night for myself since the Gala became stale. I did not see you at the gala the other night, but I can assure you that the Yule Festivus this year is becoming quite the affair. I am not one to gossip too much seeing as it does not affect me, but what about you?" Zaven asked as he pulled the melting treat from the fire before blowing out the flame that had begun to blacken the marshmallow before preparing another. He passed the smore to Chikao as Oscar welcomed him to the fire as well.
There were a lot of things he could be doing right now, but traveling through the kingdom he had decided to go enjoy the festivities that were going all around. The place he figured he would ward the bad spirits that have been around him. He felt like the disappearance of his cousin was his fault even though he had nothing to do with it. He had just wished he was there when it happened because there wasn’t anybody around his household that knew what happened that day. It was why he waited until night time, so he could make his way to this festival.
He was wearing one of his many kimonos for the day. It was what he wore regularly and it was something he felt comfortable with as it was what majority of the Krane family wore. The jewelry on him was also normal and he wondered who he would meet, and what they would talk about if they were interested in allowing a conversation to go through. The young lad walked through the long path as there were signs indicating where these festivities were taking place. ”When I get there I could just imagine the warmth that is around the area. From what I could tell it’s a beautiful night.” He thought to himself as he was looking up to the sky.
The stars that he saw was beautiful, and they had shown more tonight than all the other nights. It was a magnificent sight as he could just gaze at the stars forever. It wouldn’t take long, but he would trip over a rock and soon enough fall to the ground. This would cause him to tumble and roll forward through the path. When he stopped rolling, however, he would notice something. He had made it to the area he had been walking through. He is on the ground, but he would take in the scene that was in front of him. He would see the number of fires that were being lit up around here. It wasn’t just that, but there were a lot of people here. They also seemed to have come here for similar reasons that brought him here.
He missed his family and honestly he wish he was here with them today, but that wasn’t the case. Even if he was with them he knew they wouldn’t have come to this place with him. Yuurei would get up from the floor now that he had done a lot to embarrass himself, but luckily there wasn’t a person who saw that entrance. He would pat himself all over taking off the debris that had gotten on his kimono and got them off without a problem. He walked over towards the nearest fire and noticed that there were a lot of people around this particular fire. He wasn’t sure why, but his body couldn’t help but move towards that area. Yuurei wouldn’t have heard anything that anybody had said as he had arrived late but would take a seat close by.
He felt awkward with the sudden arrival but figured that it was better to arrive late than to never arrive at all. He stood there quietly for a few seconds, but then figured that there was no better way to break his awkward silence by talking to the group that was here. The man with the glasses, the man with the teal color hair, and then the man with long hair had seemed to have been there for a while.
”Haiya, how’s everyone’s night? It seems like I can late and ya guys was talking about stuff. If you don’t mind asking what were you talking about and could I join in on the conversation?” He asked as politely as he could without coming off in being rude.

“Hope is the magic carpet that transports us from the present moment into the realm of infinite possibilities.”
More people joining? The more, the merrier! The young man that addressed her introduced himself as Oscar and he also had someone who didn't join him this year. While her father didn't join her this year because he was busy, there was people that at least joined the group for smores making. "Nice to meet you, Oscar. My name is Amaryllis Nassau, but you can call me Amy since it's shorter and easier on the tongue." And with enough time that passed, she checked on her marshmallow to make sure it did not burn itself while it was roasting by the fire itself. It obviously wouldn't make a smore taste any good if it was burnt because of her careless handling, but she could watch over it occasionally.
The heat of the fire was warming her up from the cool night air, it felt like she was sitting by a nice fireplace back home. She was quite glad to be outside which enabled her to make new friends along the journey of becoming a Magic Knight worthy of her noble house's name. Who knows, maybe next year, she might have her mother join her at the dying embers festival and they could have some mother-daughter bonding time together. The thought of it was nice, but perhaps she might need to be a bit independent without the presence of her parents.
With that being said, her goal of becoming a great Magic Knight like her great ancestor was a long term goal she was following and having someone who could probably help with that was a good idea. When the new person who joined in spoke up, she answered him. "Oh, my night has been fine mostly. We were just talking about people that are close to us and how they are not here to celebrate this year's festival with us. You are more than welcome to join us in making smores."

As soon as Chikao heard he could join he rushed over to be very close to the fire giving a sigh of relief as he was now in a warm area as the ice began to slowly drip off. He heard Zaven talking to him and asking why he didn't have an attire more appropriate for the season "Actually th-these are the only pair of clothes i have, it's difficult to afford more clothes when you don't have a lot of money from just getting something to drink and eat. M-Maybe I can wear something warmer when i become a Magic Knight and get payed more often" He said still shivering from the cold and wet clothes he had on.
He watched Zaven bring over a marshmallow to him "N-no thanks i'm not a sweets person, I prefer savory." He told Zaven. "Too bad my teacher couldn't come this year he would have probably brought some meat and veggies to make a nice warm stew. Every year I'd come here with him and we would basically be camping. It would be a little bit of training and relaxing since he would be teaching me to make some food, I could never cook as well as him" He said giving a goofy smile to the others as he explained the previous situations. "But he can't come this year due to training my village to fight off thieves" He said feeling a little bit depressed from it.
He watched the flames dance as it warmed his body drying off his clothes a bit faster then it would normally take. He then listen to Oscar describing the dying ember festival and looked at Oscar "If you need i can get more wood to keep the fire going." He said as the camp fire did look a bit small and could use a bit more wood to keep it going. The wood for people was kept in a tented area to keep the wood dry so the logs would burn easier
As the night wore on, it seemed that several a few more people came to join the small bonfire. Oscar was happy to welcome the new faces. Zaven responded that no, not many other family members really could be found since his induction in the Golden Dawn. “W-Well, I think it’s great that you still came to the Festival!” Oscar blurted out the statement with a genuine smile, after all, it might’ve just been a coincidence that the two ended up meeting each other here, but it was still just a happy twist of fate.
“Galas and fancy parties aren’t really my thing.” Laughing a bit more, Oscar let his hand rest behind his head. “Nobles really like to make a big deal out of stuff like that...” He trailed off a bit before realizing that he was in the presence of a noble. “Uh, I mean! Big things like that are nice and all, and I really like the free food and stuff but the atmosphere is always so tense and uppity and well, I’m kind of speaking about nobles in, like, uh, general, you and Vani are r-really cool!” Backtracking on his words, the young man was a little blush as he tried to explain himself, thinking that maybe he was describing all nobles as simply pretentious about little things. It was true to an extent, considering the other members of Golden Dawn as well, but it was actually just as true that Oscar had met many nobles were kind, genuine, and not as judgemental as so many others.
And yet, the conversation was already moving along, Oscar suddenly realizing that sticking his hand in his hair had he had gotten bits of marshmallow stuck on the back of his head. While he attempted to pick out the remaining stick bits, another stranger decided to sit with them at the fire. Oscar gave a wave hello, but it seemed the blonde girl was already welcoming the man and catching him up to speed on the conversation.
The youth caught up in hearing of Chikao’s plight, he felt for the other teen since Oscar himself came from humble origins. Ever since he had moved to the Royal Capital, Vanilla’s own noble house had supplied his small family with money and nearly everything else. Without giving it a second thought, Oscar took off his winter cloak and offered it to the other teen. As he took off his cloak, it was a bit chilly, but he still had a long sleeve shirt underneath as well as his Golden Dawn’s Magic Knight Mantle, revealing to the rest of the group that he was a member of the Magic Knights along with Zaven (if anyone hadn’t picked up that both of them were from the same squad already). “Here, you need this more than I do.” Oscar said his words with a kind smile, after all, the holidays were a time of thinking of others before oneself.
Chikao then offered to go and get some more wood for the fire, and soon Oscar was already standing up to offer his help as well. Most of the bonfires were kept up with magic, but there was a small area for people to get wood for their own gatherings. “Here, I’ll help out too!” The Golden Dawn Mage was always ready to lend a hand, and this case was no different. Besides, he also needed to get some more supplies for s’mores as well.
“I’ll grab some more roasting sticks and s’mores supplies as well.” He added with a wave as he was already on his way to the designated supplies stand and area.
Silas had just left the winter gala when he found out that there a dying embers festival taking place at Last Hearth. Silas would make his way to the Crimson Lions base to see if a spatial mage could open a portal to the festival. As Silas was getting ready to leave he asked the mage that if he saw Emily to inform her that Silas was at the dying embers festival if she wanted to join him. Silas arrived at the village and ask one of the towns people directions to where the festival was taking place as Silas had never been before. There was a light snow fall as Silas made his way to the gathering place it only took five minutes for Silas to arrive. As Silas arrived he saw the huge fire in the center that most people where gathered at. Silas didn't do well in large crowds so he deiced to avoid the center. Silas made his way past most of the crowd.
Silas was by a group of trees when he noticed a smaller group of people gathered by a smaller fire about ten feet away from him. Silas recognized one of them at Chikao who he had meet once before in a inn in another village. Silas decided that he would wait by the trees for Emily to arrive if she deiced to show up. Silas was getting a little tried as it had been a long day for him. Silas used his mana to melt the snow around him as he leaned against one of trees. Silas figured Emily wouldn't have a hard time fining him as he was still in his outfit form the gala not to mention his fiery hair. Silas began to nod of as he waited for Emily to arrive.
Zaven watched as they came back slowly, joined by two others that seemed to take residence on a nearby log. Oscar spoke again, talking about his dislike of the gala-type events and such as he listened and nodded in agreement before finally speaking again.
"You know, I can agree with that, I did not really fit in at the gala...I never really do. I would rather blend in than stand out...unlike the magic knight exams." He said with a grin as he stared into the fire, the warmth spread through his body as he just enjoyed the moment he had of peace.
"Well, I can see more people have begun to show up...Good to see you again young man." He would say to Silas, and then he would turn to Amaryllis and extend his hand. "My name is Zaven Blake of the Golden Dawn. A pleasure to meet you." He would say before hopefully receiving a handshake, turning to the last man, giving him a nod as the man most likely heard his introduction from before. "I am doing great this evening, enjoying the warm fire and the company. He explained to the man before he sat back down on the log next to Oscar. "I am glad that you and Vanilla seem to be close, it makes being in a place I am not used to being in that much more comfortable." He said to Oscar before beginning to build another Smore.
Yuurei looked at the girl with the pigtails and pink dress as she was the one who would speak to him before anybody got the chance. When his gazed met her he could see that she was really attractive, which caused him to blush and look away for a second. He would hear her speak and he was glad that she was open but vague about what they had been talking about. He was, however, excited about making and eating smores. His eyes sparkled with excitement, for he knew that this was the first time he was doing anything like this with a group of people that weren’t from his family name.
”Thank you very much, my lady. I will gladly join you guys for some smores and a good conversation. My name is Yuurei Krane it’s nice to meet you all.” He would turn himself to look at the group of people who were here surrounding this fire camp.
He noticed a man had to wave at him, and he decided to do the same thing as he waved back at him without hesitation. Yuurei was a noble, but he was okay with anybody he would meet unless they tried to harm the kingdom, or did something bad to him, or that he has seen worse in his eyes. That was when the guy who had waved at him took off his cloak, which revealed his mantle of Golden Dawn. Yuurei’s eyes focused onto him now as that was the Squad that he wanted to, or was hoping to get himself into. The sparkle on his eyes could be seen as he was trying to contain his excitement. He also noticed that this man wasn’t the only one wearing a Golden Dawn mantle. He was about to say something to the man that waved at him, but he had soon left to get stuff for the fire and smores.
He could see that there were a few nobles around the area that he was in, which was nice to see. He didn’t mind them here and was happy that there other nobles who were out and about like he was. He had looked to a certain tree as the other man with the Golden Dawn mantle had called out to him. He looked over to see the guy with the red hair and took noticed of what family he was from his hair and attired. There were indeed more people here than he thought there would be, but that also meant that he was also going to meet a lot of new people that he could befriend.
The man’s name was Zaven Blake, and he was truly from Golden Dawn; it appalled Yuurei to hear those words and he was trying his best to hold his excitement. He heard what he had said and Yuurei smiled glad that he wasn’t the only one enjoying his time here. Yuurei noticed that he was making smores, and he figured he was going to give that to him but didn’t want to ask that out loud. His hand would move towards the fire as he could feel the warmth coming from the fireplace. It was a nice feeling on his skin, but he didn’t really feel cold. He had lived in the mountains his whole life and using cold type magic just made him feel comfortable in the cold. This was his way of trying to stop himself from asking how fun it was to enter Golden Dawn.
”That’s awesome that you are in Golden Dawn. I’m hoping to join them myself when I can of course.” He said out loud as he actually thought he was thinking about those words in his head.
It would be for all to hear and when he found what he had done, it would embarrass him, unlike anything he had ever done before.
