NAME: Kaihaku Aves ALIAS: "Kai" BIRTHDATE: December 21st BIRTHPLACE: In the Countryside, in a small town outside the Kingdom Proper OCCUPATION: Aspiring Magic Knight
HAIR COLOR: Light Gray EYE COLOR: Amber GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Kaihaku has long gray hair usually tied up to keep out of his way as he despises haircuts. He's just let it grow. His ponytail starts out looking almost frayed, with a spiky portion poking out just before the main, long part of his ponytail, again, tied off by a red cord.. His clothes are old fashioned, and similar to what a samurai might wear. Primarily White, Blue, Red, and Brown. He has leather gloves and shoes. His cloths are pretty baggy, and any parts that involve tying off are done do with red cord. Around his waist, draping down is a spotted doe pelt he got from his father. His body isn't built, in fact he's quite slim, but he has good tone for the most part.
Kaihaku, growing up, would sit and watch the birds for hours, he liked to watch them hop around and chatter with one another. Some of his most fond memories were of waking up to the sound of their chirping every spring. He is flighty, usually would rather do nothing at all or just watch the birds. He almost has an obsession with various Birds and recording their natures and habits. Growing up he didn't really have friends, and that's mostly his fault. He would often neglect them for his hobbies and his own personal activities, but on the other hand he never felt his friends understood him, and maybe didn't want to understand him. He decided he'd rather have no one, than have a bunch of people who didn't really understand or accept him. Sure he has his distractions, and his quirks, but deep down, he just wants to help people. He wants to protect everyone and everything he can. The world is too beautiful to just let it burn.
Kaihaku is simple. He bonds with friends, turning them into his family. Few things are more important to Kaihaku than his chosen family. Growing up he had his mother and he had a couple friends for a little bit, but he was irresponsible, fickle. He didn’t spend time with them, and that eventually drove them away. He felt like they misunderstood him. That’s what it boiled down to. During his time alone he took to watching the birds. He didn’t know why, they caught his attention. Perhaps their funny plumage or their gorgeous feather patterns. But he was drawn to them. To the point that he spent all of his free time making and filling out a book of what he wanted to, one day, contain all of the local bird species. He spent hours every day working on it. It distracted him from his studies from everything.
The more time he spent with the birds the more he thought about his connection with them. He realized that the birds don’t misunderstand him. There was nothing about him that they could understand. Except that he meant no harm, and only wanted to get close to them to see them better. They didn’t lash out at him because he wasn’t a threat. They never insulted him. They never laughed at him for falling asleep or daydreaming. They just went about their life, without giving him so much as a sideways glance. As he grew older he would continue neglecting the people around him, and spending more time with the birds.
It was January. He just turned 15. Everyone in his town was abuzz about The Ceremony. Him and all of his peers would be getting their Grimoires and then moving on to training and eventually joining a Magic Knight Squad. Kaihaku, though, had other things on his mind. He had been trying to track down. A Golden Eagle. It was the last bird in the area he didn’t have a record on. He woke at dawn and trekked out into the forest in search of the Golden Eagle’s nest the mountains. The walk took nearly four hours, it was about 11am by the time he got actually into the mountains. He stopped to eat his lunch, and started writing notes about the climate and estimated altitude of where he was in the mountains. Kaihaku took a moment to take in the scenery and appreciate the beauty of his homeland, his serenity was interrupted by the call of his target. He saw it soaring through the sky and immediately began running after it, hoping to even just catch a glimpse of its nest. Kaihaku enjoyed making sketches of the nests when he found them. He stumbled a few times and banged up his knees but he kept running after it. His heart started pounding when the Eagle started to land, he picked up his pace to try to catch up before losing it entirely. One more tumble, turned into a slide down a steep slope. He slammed into a boulder, that would leave a bruise. He looked around to get stock of his surroundings. He heard chirping. Looking up to his left, he could see it. The nest of the Golden Eagle. He positioned himself on top of the rock he had just slammed into and began his records of the Eagle and her nest.
The sun was setting now. Kaihaku got his feather, his sketches, and began making his way home. Along the path, around 3pm, he stopped to take a break. He fell asleep leaning against a tree. He woke up sometime much later. He wasn’t sure about the time, but it was dark now. The sun had just set, and the moon was full. He had a nagging feeling that he had forgotten about something, but he was tired, and his back hurt so he headed home. When he arrived he was greeted by a warm but tight embrace from his mother. She had been crying. He told him she was worried, that “no one saw him today” and she didn’t know where he was, and was worried because she knew he liked to go off on his own. Kaihaku apologized to his mother and went to bed. He was confused what she meant by “no one saw him today”. That happens a lot… He started to think about that feeling he had when he woke up in the forest. What had he forgotten? Did he make plans? No. Everything is okay.
The next morning everyone was just glad that he was okay. It was strange. He always had his book strapped to his hip. So now that everyone else had grimoires at their side, for some reason, he didn’t even think about grimoires. He just thought everyone else got hobbies like he did. It wasn’t for about another week before he heard the word “Grimoire”. He didn’t spend a lot of time around people. But when he talked to an old friend his entire world came crashing down around him. He realized his mistake. He missed the Grimoire Acceptance Ceremony Entirely. He immediately ran to the elder who oversaw the ceremony, pleading with him. Begging to get a grimoire. The elder looked at him and laughed for a moment, telling him “It’s not that simple. You’ll have to come back next year. I guess don’t go venturing into the mountain next time, Kai.” The elder continued to laugh as he went back to his duties. He had to simply bide his time until the next year before getting his grimoire. He almost missed the ceremony for that year as well.
Elemental Oddity: A quirky perk that allows ones element to naturally gain a property that is not naturally associated with that element. This does not give your element any sort of advantage or weakness over another element. It will still make them 100% the same strength/weakness as before. It is purely for flavor purposes or can add a different means of dealing damage, like adding a burning like feature to an element that would not normally have said feature. For example: water that burns like acid. When picking this oddity, please limit the effect to something that is in your element's grimoire tier and do not make it broken. Staff can at any point in time force you to change it. Elements oddity can be turned on or off depending on the spell being used. If a spell is going to utilize the oddity it should be made mention in the spell's creation!
Ancient Soul: Those with this perk start out their new character with 50% of their former stats (up to the base starting 45). They will also gain 50% of their unused Gold. They will gain 100% of their unused Spell points as well as 50% of all used Spell Points. All Items will be lost. You must make a new character and can’t use your previous Face Claim, Personality, or Magic Type. You must re-roll your Grimoire tier following the normal rolling Rules.
Mana Regen Boost Instead of the normal 10% mana pool regeneration outside of combat, your character may now regenerate 15% while out of combat and 10% of your mana pool while in combat! This is always rounded up!
Roaming Golems: Golems now are able to move 4x their sensory stat in range!
COMBAT STYLE: He fights by creating weapons, projectiles, and golems with his feather magic. Elegant patterns of feathers, and birds primarily. He likes to move fast, and strike hard. Generally operating at medium range with support of his team mates and golems. He likes to act independently, but isn't afraid to fall back on the leadership of others.
