Saki gave a powerful, tired yawn as she stretched across an old, dusty couch in the common area of the base, bored out of her mind and fighting off the fatigue that came with not doing much of anything but staring off into the void. She was wearing a simple garb, the dirty cloak of the Green Mantis slipped around her shoulders. A bottle was in her hand - half empty - as she lounged on the couch. What was she supposed to do? She filled her quota, and her bar had to close down for the week- the new shipment of drinks and that new bartender she hired hadn’t swung around yet. With nothing else to do she had done something she hadn’t in nearly four years. Laze around. She gave a short laugh as she thought about all what had happened during the four years; the war, her uncles dying- even her display of power by killing the major crime lords of Aries Garse.
She did it under the guise of ‘punishing traitors’ who had been selling wares off to diamond- something that had somehow manage to pop up under her radar. She took an honor hit for the wholesale slaughter, but it did send a message, didn’t it? Beyond that she managed to get a hold of the deed for a bar- though that wasn’t all that difficult, given the state of the forsaken region. ‘God. Four years went by so quickly…’ Saki quietly thought to herself as she laid there on the couch. She took a sip of the drink in her hand, staring off into space. Maybe this was good for her, the taking a break thing. She didn’t really recall slowing down like this in a long while, between making her plans and running her bar it turned out to be quite busy. Busier than she’d like, even…
Giggling to himself as walked through the halls of the Mantis base, Jesse Redfield was happily whistling a tune with no melody. Stretching his hands behind his back, he interlocked his fingers behind his head.
The man had nothing really to do. Missions were done, gold was spent on liquor and booze, and his own extracurriculars were actually for once, not bothering him about anything. A nice and lazy day, he liked that idea. The man had his jacket hang loosely from his shoulders, his white tank top cut low to reveal the skin and his collarbone. On his bottom half, a pair of leather pants and boots with black leather straps. His strides were long and carefree, and of course, his Green Mantis regalia was still hung like a sash around his waste, the emblem just visible at his hip line. On the other side was his dark red leather grimoire with a chain hanging loosely from his belt on the holder.
He made his way to the common room of the castle like base, where he so found a looker of a young lady.
Jesse called out with a tease, his hands swung round to his hips as he approached the couch from the back. His arms crossed on the cushions, as he leaned over the dark haired woman freely. “Oh honey, c’mon, mind sharing a bit of booze with a friend? I know you have a bar so you get loads of the stuff all the ti~me!” His discolored eye winked at the woman below him, his words always light and without the slightest hint of inhibition. “Pretty please? I spent all my allowance this weekend already!” The grown man put on his own face of pity and begging for show, even if his dramatics were just there for extra flare.
And while it wasn’t a lie, it wasn’t really the truth. He had other ways of making money, it wasn’t so much a secret even in the Green Mantis that the man known as Redeye seemed to run his own redlight operation. Much like Saki’s own business in booze, Jesse dealt in bodies. Nonetheless, the two had become well-acquainted drinking buddies over the years and Saki would certainly be the first person to share her booze with him.

A new addition tot he Green Mantis was roaming the halls. She fit in rather well in terms of looks. But, in her mind, she didn't belong here. Sure, she acted cold and distant when associating with anyone here, but, deep down, she was nervous, anxious, and a giant dork who adored seeing new and exotic magics. It was Brier Thistlebrook, the secretive ninja of the Green Mantis. Everything about her screamed ninja, a ninja who also happened to like cosplay. Her mane of brown hair was pulled in to a pony tail with the help of a shuriken for crying out loud!
On her lower body and torso were leather wrappings. As if she was wearing some sort of leather mesh under the clothing type of wear. On her torso was a beige sweater vest and white shirt with a puffy scarf wrapped around her neck and lower face. On her legs were a plaid skirt and a pair of black leggings. SHe was dressed up like a school girl of all things. She had joined Green Mantis for her own reasons. Sure, she told everyone she was here to earn some money, but, she never gave the full story.
Today, it seemed that she would have to socialize with some of her order mates, they were alright, not as psychotic as some of those back ground characters. Instead, it was just Saki the Sadist and Jesse the Flirt. Entering the main common area, Brier tried to sneak by, like a ninja would, though, whenever she tried to get sneakier, she just made herself more conspicuous. Every large step she took was apparent, not to mention she clung to the wall with her arms out wide like some sort of funny cartoon character trying to be sneaky, in the hopes that they wouldn't be spotted!
Alfred was in the common area of the base enjoying a cup of tea. He was on a table that would be perfect for most people to use to play checkers or chess on, but because it was Green Mantis it was usually used for the 'don't stab your hand' game and it showed because the table had stab marks and dried blood spots. This didn't seem to phase Alfred as he was use to the sight of blood even before joining the Green Mantis. His family was well known as one of the worst noble families as they were publicly known to work in the black market. The only reason his family wasn't stripped of their title and thrown in jail was because they would provide info to the Magical Knights and have their family join them for a long time.
Alfred sipped his tea being careful not to spill any of the liquid on his outfit. The tea's aroma was an elegant smell and taste and was his favorite brand, he was always able to find it even in this time of war. He heard Saki's yawn but tried to ignore her. He did enjoy spending time with his squad but right now he more wanted to just relax and not worry about anything. Even though he has been part of the Squad for two years he hasn't been given much in the way of missions. This did annoy him as he joined the Magical Knights, especially the Green Mantis, because his family was part of it and has talked about a lot about it. The problem was he never really decided on what kind of missions he wanted to do and no one asked him to join them on their missions.
As he was enjoying his tea he noticed Jesse come in the room, He's known of him but doesn't know him personally. He decided to watch the conversation going on between Jesse and Saki. Out of the Corner of his eye saw Brier 'A new recruit?' Alfred thought watching her. He couldn't help watching her as she was trying to sneak but it made her seem more suspicious. 'Are you serious?' he thought giving a confused and ashamed of this girl. 'Is she really doing this?' he sighed giving her a disapproved look.

The devil awoke early in the morning, when night's transition into day was just starting. Annelise was always a early riser. She enjoyed the quiet that the other vagabonds didn't disturb because they were still fast asleep - wasting time away. For the most part Annelise had stayed within her room inside the Green Mantis base. She was busy studying and researching, her desire to create news spells ran hot throughout her body. She was unsure on how best to create magic that suited her. Emerald eyes studied her grimoire, each spell she ad currently was designed especially for her - fine tuned to bring out her maximum potential. Annelise would continue this well into the late morning.
"I'm still nowhere near completion. This'll take longer than anticipated..."
Getting up from the desk, she would raise her arms above her head, stretching them as far as they would yield. No doubt about this time the common area would be filled with members. It was time to go grab a bite she mused, taking off her night gown and putting on some brown pants. A light blue, baseball tee tunic would be her shirt of choice, followed by leather boots. She opted to allow her hair to remain wild and unkempt. In lovely locks it fell to her upper back, her bang shadowing her forehead. Her grimoire would float back to her thigh, holstering itself to it's home at her side. Out the door and down the winding staircase she would be lead to the main entrance, her momentum stopping as her arms crossed themselves, her eyes upon a particular ninja who's antics gave cause for Annelise to wonder why she was picked to be apart of Green Mantis - she was flabbergasted. "Ever the fool I see!" Her venomous tongue spat, her disapproving gaze fixed upon Brier sneaking along the wall. If you could even call it that, Annelise couldn't believe stupidity could take physical form. It was nonsense!
Long strides would carry Annelise past the clumsy Brier and into the area where Hades, Saki and Jesse were. Familiar faces all around, but tiresome individuals to deal with. Jesse was loud as ever, begging for alcohol from Saki. He didn't know what to do with himself when not forced to use his abilities for the Magic Knights. Annelise's commanding gaze would hover over each person as she walked through with lithe strides. Taking a seat at the opposite couch she crossed her legs and rested her arms on the arm rest part of the couch. The devil figured that a break could do her some good. She hadn't tasted alcohol in quite sometimes and her muscles were sore from training and her work that kept her ever busy. A grin would bloom upon her lips. "It'd be a shame not to treat your squad-mates to a drink, poor Jesse looks almost sober for a change! " She would say mockingly as her head would tilt back. These people were a useless ilk, but they were her useless ilk. There was something calming in the notion Annelise mused.
Just thinking about how soon, this would all be hers. Her ambition was gluttonous and it desired everything. TWC: 506

Why is it she felt like she didn't fit in? Among a bunch of people that specialized in assassinations and killing, surely a ninja would fit in? Maybe it was her clothing choice? Was it her hair? Was it her attitude? She couldn't put her finger on it. Oh wait, maybe it was the fact that she was one of the hardest to understand people in the entire country. She wasn't some mysterious emissary from another dimension, or something as interesting as a stone tablet that gave you a glimpse of the mirror world, but, she was here to steal the expensive items from every captain. She kept that part secret from everyone. It lead to her not being the most social person. But, part of her yearned for it, and knew she needed some people to rely on if she was going to be successful. Instead, she was grouped up with a bunch of sadistic freaks that enjoyed doling out the death sentence! And drunken perfects! And little girls that had an idea of the world in their palm! And a whatever Alfred was! She needed new colleagues.
Ever the fool? If only any of these killers knew. Brier was far more capable of holding her own and being a ninja. Maybe. It was up to debate depending on how she was feeling. But, the moment that Annelise came in, and called her out, Brier flinched and flailed a moment. Before she called out her grimoire and cried out, "Intonjutsu! Shroud!" SHe cried out before smacking her palms together, a large plume of mist coming out from them and filling up the small common room. The green mantis base was labyrinthine. Almost like a maze of interconnected cubic rooms. Perfectly square on all sides on the inside, so it was easy to fill up this space with enough mist of her magic to mask her appearance.
Regardless of anyone's sensory skills, she had enough time to find a hiding spot. And once the cool gentle mist passed, Brier was nowhere to be seen. Of course, if anyone were to look at the ceiling, she was attached to it, with an adhesive blanket clinging to the ceiling, acting like a tight knit hammock to keep her flush against the stony ceiling. It was somewhat obvious, given that she had laid the pattern out wrong, and wasn't blending in perfectly with the stone work of the room! Still, where the hell did she keep something like that on that schoolgirl outfit?
